For us, the Kieler Kaufmann is the undisputed number 1 in Kiel and the surrounding area. The hotel is beautifully located, the staff are extremely courteous and friendly, the gastronomic offering is outstanding and the rooms are tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. A true oasis of peace and enjoyment at a high level. A huge compliment to the entire team!

A great hotel with rough edges. The rooms are, depending on the category, from to. Our room was on the second floor with a view of the fjord. Easily accessible via stairs or the elevator. The high bathtub will not please everyone, this should be checked in advance. I did not visit the spa area and will skip the review. I must highlight the breakfast, there is almost nothing that is not available, great. We could have skipped dinner, apart from being expensive, it was simply nothing. We were not allowed a nightcap in the lobby either, after waiting for the barman for over half an hour, we went to bed. Apart from the stressed barman, the rest of the staff were super friendly and accommodating. You expect a little more from a hotel in this category.

Very nice, well-kept room. Spacious and clean bathroom. Comfortable mattresses. Breakfast was good and sufficient. Unfortunately, some guests did not understand that you should not drink the juice glasses that were already filled and put them back! The bar had a very good selection of drinks and the cocktails were very good. Too few open wines, could be improved. Dinner in the grocery store: All the dishes tasted perfect. What a pity. The hotel doesn't live up to its expectations. We have never looked around so much in a hotel as we did in this one. A lot of things are very nice, but on second glance they are completely unacceptable for the price. The duvets and pillows were all clumped together, there were no radio stations. No information folder in the room, no descriptions of where breakfast is or where the wellness area is. Still the unspeakable plastic toothbrush cups wrapped in foil and, worst of all, urine scale under the toilet lid. We don't recommend it to anyone.

Location: Great with a view of the fjord. Great room, great swimming pool. No WiFi in the bar??? Cleanliness of the glasses and cups (tea) was not so good, when we complained we were given a new cup without an apology. Breakfast was not special although it was advertised as excellent. Scrambled eggs, bacon and Nuremberg sausages were only lukewarm, the cheese and sausage were not exactly FRESH either. A shame for a 4 star hotel.
