Recently under new ownership, 15 of us decided to have Sunday lunch (a mix of adults and children). A number of the party are what I would definitely class as “foodies”, including myself. Unanimously we all thought the food that was turned out was absolutely superb! Roast potatoes, Yorkshires, crackling and gravy to die for (proper gravy that takes days to make). The vegetables were beautifully cooked, not over done like a lot of places. The pork and beef had real flavour – an absolute credit to the chef. Staff were extremely attentive and couldn’t do more to help. Front of house was immaculate including toilets etc. Thanks for a superb afternoon and keep up the good work – we will definitely be back!

My partner had booked here for a 2 night stay for my birthday as we were going to do a hot air balloon ride locally. We had a fantastic stay! My partner wanted to sort balloons/decs in the room before I arrived which he had arranged with family members. The host was able to accommodate that and let the family members check in for us. We were also asked if we wanted to upgrade to a bigger room but we had a room with a patio which suited us so we kept our room. The room was very clean and really cosy! We slept so so well, didn’t want to wake up in the mornings! The bed was very comfortable and we had a relaxing stay. The area is very quiet even as a local pub we didn’t hear any noise from the pub. The breakfast was great! Really tasty and lots of options with cereals, yoghurts & fruit and of course a full English and option for a veggie full English! I cannot fault the host. Couldn’t have done more for us. So welcoming and really friendly, lovely lady! (So sorry I didn’t get your name). One of the evenings we went out and there was a local tractor festival and they do a pub crawl. The host rang our room to see if we wanted to have a look etc but we were out for dinner. I thought this was a really nice gesture so we could take in some local atmosphere. We would definitely visit again!

Friendly warm welcome, Great food of excellent quality, good portion size and reasonably price. Service was good and friendly. Would eat there again and highly recommend. Probably worth booking as inside restaurant is not that big.

Very pleasantly surprised at this little gem tucked away in a leafy lane, great breakfast to top it off , very polite host and restaurant was very clean , limited menu but that seems the norm at this moment in time

Just stayed one night, bedroom very nice. Had an evening meal which was excellent as was breakfast. The host and restaurant staff very friendly and only too willingly to answer questions. They would modify the menu, if you asked they would make a starter into a main course for you. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Looked at menu before visiting pub on arrival Polish dumpling not on menu for main course. Beware menu on website is not the same as limited menu available on a Friday night. Had a small scampi salad no cucumber or tomato in salad just leaves. Won’t be returning

We’ve just stayed 2 nights at The New Inn. The pub, was in my family for 25 years, many years ago.I wanted to go back to the Reading area, having left, back in 1975. So staying here made perfect sense. We received such a lovely, warm welcome from Dora, and had so much to talk about, and photos to share. Dora has certainly looked after the old pub, and is a fantastic landlady. Our room, Champagne, was great. Very comfortable, with everything we needed. The bed was really comfy. We ate, both evenings in the restaurant. The food was excellent, as was the service. We’ll definitely go back. It was a fabulous ‘trip down memory lane’.
