A hotel with too much character. I'm on my forth visit, this year. If you like the bland, uniform sterility of travel lodges, then this probably isn't for you, but if you want an inexpensive room, with a clean bed, secure parking, and a great location, in a historical listed building. Then I highly recommend the Royal. The staff are fantastic, and make the place feel like home. They are always on hand 24/7, and always do anything they can to help, or serve you a coffee, a panini and some freindly chat, in their newly opened coffee bar. The Roral is currently under renovation. I've never experienced any disturbance from the work. The Royal is a cozy, quiet place, but the rooms are a couple of decades overdue redecorating, but I always look forward to coming back to the Royal, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Kettering

Rooms are good but downstairs need renovation, new carpets and painting. Please clean up, in room 4 when you open window where tea and coffee supplies are, you see cigarette stubs all over

Appalling
Absolutely appalling hotel. In need of urgent renovation as there were stains everywhere. Heating issues throughout the hotel, dirty, bathrooms without tiling, barely any water pressure so unable to shower. The HSE need to visit urgently and determine if this hotel is even safe.

Horrid hell hole. Avoid.Not a hotel,no TV remote,no sink plug.Dirty torn carpet,no food,no drinks,it really is a dump. On arrival,car park was closed,spent 20 mins trying to street park. Never stay again,felt dirty and horrid when I left.

sorry to leave a bad review. room, clean, spotless bedding, heating worked, hot shower, thats the good bit. hotel dated. funny smell? buckets on 2 nd floor for water collection from ceiling which looks like it is about to fall down. car park not available because deemed unsafe!! other customers arived in the room next to me at 2.30am ish (3 male voices, i think) was so loud!!!! banging, loud voices, sounded like guns going off??? sounded like they were wreaking the room? this went on until 5am. I was up at 7am for parkrun. felt un safe. If this had been a four in a bed stay i would put nothing in the envelope as payment.

Was a great stay, yes it is old and very dated, but has got great housekeepers, is very clean and tidy, just needs a little modernising. All the staff are brilliant, laid back friendly and very helpful, there is a nice little coffee shop are that is coming and can also be used by guests to eat there own food. Have to say the new manager Baz has made a nice friendly environment, and with such a great team working with him, this place should be much improved soon. Keep up the good work guys! See you soon.

As soon as i walked in i knew that something was wrong the place was just about closed down. Dining room closed so no meals or breakfast when i got into my room it was boiling hot i could never sleep in there so i asked for a change the next room was still a bit warm so lucky if i got 4 hours sleep. Never again

Not great
Was expecting more for the money. Damaged heater. Accidentally pulled the bottom sheet when getting into bed to find stains ewwww.....
At 06:30 found out no hot water for shower..... Spoke to reception that evening ( very helpful) he gave me a key to the opposite room to use shower
Hanging plugs... Decor dated, parts of carpet threadbare.
Good WiFi though

Lovely old building, could do with a revamp,but the room was clean and the bed linen was spotless. Would stay again when in the area. Gated parking which was a bonus,also the staff were polite and helpful. Good location for the centre of town and pubs.
