This is a historic building that dates back to 1548 and has gone through 11 owners. Today it is a spa hotel The hotel sits on a large piece of land, with herds of cattle and sheep in front of the door. The restaurant on the other side has a great view of the lake and a large meadow. Rabbits and squirrels often jump around in the meadow and forest. You can reach the lake through a path, or you can hike in the forest. From the elevator, you can feel that the hotel has a sense of age. The spa has a constant-temperature swimming pool, a cold pool, a hot pool, and an outdoor hot pool, facing a large area of grass and woods, which is really pleasant. The only thing to note is: if you check out at 11 o'clock, you must go to the spa before checking out. After 11 o'clock, there will be an additional charge of 20 pounds per person.

Stayed 5 nights in this splendid historic estate is like being catapulted to 19th Century Downton Abbey. A superb property with palatial grounds set in a lake & mountain setting. Within just 5 days I had the pleasure of staying in 3 different types of accommodation to get the complete feel of the luxuries that Armathwaite Hall had to offer. I particularly enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast with an extensive spread which I would slowly consume over 2 long leisurely hours. They also have a great spa & pool where I had one of the most relaxing massages in ages. Special thanks to Richard Sidaway the Deputy GM, & to Mark Pienkowski Head of Front Office who personally ensured I had a most enjoyable experience. The enclose pictures says it all. Had an amazing 3 course Sunday lunch today which was gifted to us for Christmas. We received excellent hospitality from the staff in the Lake View restaurant and the food was exceptional. All of excellent quality, taste and presentation. We both chose the prawn cocktail for starter, lamb for main and crème brûlée for dessert, followed by coffee and mints.

We went for festive afternoon tea just prior to Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. The tea/coffee was flowing freely which was great and accompanied the delicious selection of sandwiches, savouries, scones and cakes and was a good balance between sweet and savoury. The scones were the best we have ever had and we have had several afternoon teas in the area - well done to the pastry chef. The selection of food served was great and had a twist on the Christmas period. The Christmas decorations at the hotel were fabulous and certainly put us in the mood for the Christmas celebrations, along with having a wonderful view over the Lakes and mountains. We enjoyed it so much we intend to attend again this year at similar time - thoroughly recommended.

We finally got around to using our voucher today. After 4 hours in the spa having a treatment and using the amazing facilities, we went to the main hotel for afternoon tea, which was fantastic and very relaxing, the staff could not have been more helpful and polite, we will definitely be back

My wife and I stayed at Armathwaite Hall for 4 nights over the 2024/25 New Year. Although not cheap the New Year package is excellent and good value for money. The Hall is beautifully decorated and our suite (135) was spacious and delightful with modern, comfortable furnishings and a superb bathroom. Nice touches included a Christmas tree, box of chocolates, Christmas cake and a small bottle of 10 year old Port. Room servicing was very good with plenty of coffee, tea, milk and bottled water provided daily. The Hall's three lounges are spacious, fabulously decorated, comfortable and cosy. The dinning room is split into 3 lovely and atmospheric areas with wonderful views of Bassenthwaite Lake. There is a very impressive Spa with a 16 metre pool, thermal suite, gym, outside hot tub and well designed treatment rooms. The NY package is well planned with a guided low or mid level walk on NY Eve, superb dinners every evening, including a sumptuous buffet proceeded by a Scottish piper on NY Eve and a "****** night" on NY day. Champagne cocktails were provided before dinner and a glass of champagne was delivered to the room on NY night. The quality and choice of food provided at breakfast and during each dinner was excellent. Staff throughout the Hall were friendly, helpful, courteous and efficient. What a fabulous way to celebrate the New Year. See you again in 2025/26!

We arrived at 2pm for our afternoon tea and we were blown away with the experience. Staff absolutely fantastic and so welcoming the food and service were out of this world. We went into the bar for cocktails another great experience. Asked if they could improve absolutely NOT.

Where to start. We booked an impromptu visit based on the £199 offer however to be fair, we would have paid full price as this place is worth it. It is always good to return and one of the reasons we do is because of the staff, Kelsey in the Spa always remembers us and makes our visit that little bit better! The place itself is beautiful, the spa is one of the best I’ve been to. We had the pleasure of eating in the new restaurant and it did not disappoint, both myself and my husband loved the food. We also had afternoon tea (first time ever here) and again it was amazing. I would highly recommend a visit.
