This is a historic building that dates back to 1548 and has gone through 11 owners. Today it is a spa hotel
The hotel sits on a large piece of land, with herds of cattle and sheep in front of the door. The restaurant on the other side has a great view of the lake and a large meadow. Rabbits and squirrels often jump around in the meadow and forest. You can reach the lake through a path, or you can hike in the forest.
From the elevator, you can feel that the hotel has a sense of age.
The spa has a constant-temperature swimming pool, a cold pool, a hot pool, and an outdoor hot pool, facing a large area of grass and woods, which is really pleasant.
The only thing to note is: if you check out at 11 o'clock, you must go to the spa before checking out. After 11 o'clock, there will be an additional charge of 20 pounds per person.

Stayed 5 nights in this splendid historic estate is like being catapulted to 19th Century Downton Abbey. A superb property with palatial grounds set in a lake & mountain setting. Within just 5 days I had the pleasure of staying in 3 different types of accommodation to get the complete feel of the luxuries that Armathwaite Hall had to offer. I particularly enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast with an extensive spread which I would slowly consume over 2 long leisurely hours. They also have a great spa & pool where I had one of the most relaxing massages in ages. Special thanks to Richard Sidaway the Deputy GM, & to Mark Pienkowski Head of Front Office who personally ensured I had a most enjoyable experience. The enclose pictures says it all. Where to start. We booked an impromptu visit based on the £199 offer however to be fair, we would have paid full price as this place is worth it. It is always good to return and one of the reasons we do is because of the staff, Kelsey in the Spa always remembers us and makes our visit that little bit better! The place itself is beautiful, the spa is one of the best I’ve been to. We had the pleasure of eating in the new restaurant and it did not disappoint, both myself and my husband loved the food. We also had afternoon tea (first time ever here) and again it was amazing. I would highly recommend a visit.

I'd give 6 stars if I could. Hands down start to finish a great place. Can't praise staff enough sorting out a few things professionally. The hall itself is a magical place and decked out in its Christmas finery, one not to be missed. Excellent food and the spa facilities are excellent.

We are very fortunate to live close to Armathwaite Hall. We always visit a few times over the Christmas period as the decorations are stunning. I feel locally you will struggle to find anywhere with decorations as beautiful as they are here. We had a beautiful festive lunch in the stunning lake view room. I had roast beef and it was cooked to perfection everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their turkey. Every member of the team was attentive and friendly they couldn't do enough to help. I feel a special mention needs to go to the star of this hotel the Deputy General Manager Richard. Who I believe should be the General Manger. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone who walks through the door has the most special time at Armathwaite Hall. He remembers my son and makes him feel so welcome, even making sure he gets his warm apple juice. Richard is a credit to the hotel and I hope the owners realise how lucky they are to have him. We look forward to visiting again over the coming weeks.

We had booked for an afternoon tea as a nice break before the Christmas chaos, and I didn't disappoint. Everything from the staff to the decorations, the food to the atmosphere, were absolutely perfect. We hadn't even left when we were talking about when we could come back.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Staff were amazing, very helpful, ungraded our rooms as it was my birthday, nothing was too much trouble. food was fabulous good choice on the menu. The hotel was clean and set in beautiful grounds. It was an incredible birthday experience. There was nothing they could have done better .

Fantastic hotel, where the staff make the difference to your whole experience. The location and hotel is exceptional and I would recommend a stay to anyone here. A great spa, restaurant was great, and despite it being freezing outside, the hotel was beautifully warm. All in all a great stay
