I never expected to write a review like this. But then again, I never expected an experience like that! Let me say this upfront, the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa didn't just meet expectations, they created magic ✨ Offering something more than comfort or luxury, they helped create a memory, one that will last forever. And for that, I owe them more than five stars. I’d planned something a little different for someone special. A weekend of ten surprise mini-dates. Playfully called #SuperDate, it was designed to unfold in chapters, each one delivered in a sealed envelope, each one building on the last. It was spontaneous and structured at the same time, like a scavenger hunt for connection. Dates 3 to 8, the centre of the story, took place at Lodore. And those were the ones I couldn’t have pulled off without the team. I’d booked on instinct alone, but from the first email, their warmth told me I’d chosen the right place. I could feel the care before we’d even stepped through the door. Jodie helped me coordinate every moment, the spa times, the dinner reservation, the Rasul Ritual, the breakfast slot, even leaving room for surprises. I never told her the full story at the time, but she rolled with it, piecing it all together so that I didn’t have to stress. It’s rare to feel like someone’s on your team when you’re just a name on a booking system. But that’s what she did. When we arrived, Marcell smiled as if he already knew the full story. Lynn’s face lit up too. Subtle, sincere. There was a beautiful energy at reception, it felt like being welcomed home to a place you’d never been before. And the little moments added up. Cara from the spa smiled knowingly when I got locked out of our room and joked, “Don’t worry, we’ve all been following along.” That hit me. We weren’t just guests. They were quietly cheering us on in the background. And that made everything feel a bit more real. A bit more magical ✨ Dinner at Mizu? Phenomenal. Impeccable service, incredible food, and two actual otters swimming past right next to us. I swear. You couldn’t plan it better. Then there was the violinist, playing the most beautiful soundtrack to the weekend. At one point, she played directly into my phone camera with a warm smile. I was so caught off guard I stopped recording and sheepishly walked away. Later, we crossed paths again and had a lovely chat. She’d seen me walking in earlier with my guitar and said she’d hoped to speak to me. That simple exchange became one of our favourite talking points over dinner. Music really is a language of connection. I want to say this clearly for anyone considering whether this place is “worth it.” It is. It’s not just the spa facilities or scenery (both of which are out of this world!). It’s about people. It’s about intention. It’s about the way they don’t just tolerate eccentric plans like mine, they support them. Facilitate them. Enrich them. And for the hotel staff reading this - you should know what your work meant. We booked The Lodore for my husband's 40th birthday as it's on the circular walk route around the derwentwater and looked lovely online. We were a little unsure after mixed reviews but we were really impressed during our whole experience and would love to return. We enjoyed our complimentary drinks (prosecco or soft drink - shame a beer option was not included) and then we ate in Mizu restaurant and enjoyed the skewer platters, gyoza and desserts. The hotel grounds were beautiful with lots of seating areas. Our room was nice and clean. Breakfast options were plentiful - sat by the window for a wonderful view! We booked for the morning spa session and it was wonderful. Lots of different rooms and the heated pool had bubbles and a magnificent view! We loved walking up Catbells and drove up to surprise view for both sunset and sunrise. We also walked down to the Chinese Bridge and swam in the river which was crystal clear and very refreshing! All in all a fantastic trip - one we will remember and one we'd love to repeat!!

Another amazing stay at Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa. We booked a suite once again as the last time we stayed our suite was absolutely wonderful and well worth the extra money. This time we stayed in the spa building again on the 3rd floor. We had a view over the spa and out to the lake and a balcony with views onto the fells. The sure was huge with plenty of seating and space to relax. The bedroom was separated with a room divider which made it feel cosy. The bathroom was huge with gorgeous shower looking out onto the fells. You also get entry to the spa included with your room. The spa is beautiful, a lovely atmosphere and a good selection of facilities. Various heat experiences, showers, outdoor sauna etc. the relaxation area is lovely too. The infinity pool was my favourite and the views are to die for! The cocktails in the champagne bar were delicious and perfect to have whilst enjoying the views! We booked the Boxing Day sale offer so we also got breakfast included - we had this in our suite and it was delicious! This was easy to order and you can specify a time to have it delivered. We also got an allowance for dinner which we could use in either the falls brasserie or Mizu. This time we went to Mizu and had a fabulous meal. We don’t usually eat a lot of Asian food so we order a selection of things to try with the help of the staff. Food was amazing, service was great and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. I can’t fault our stay here at all. Everything was spotlessly clean, the staff were very welcoming - I can’t wait for our next stay!

We stayed for the weekend. Overall it was quite nice but not as good as we expected. The hotel is lovely when you walk in and the check in was efficient. Our room was quite pokey and very stuffy. It was so hot even with the fan provided and window open. It didn’t seem anything special considering it’s 4 star and the area in the corridor outside smelt old and musty. The breakfast was nice and the meal in the falls brassiere was good. However at dinner we had to ask for our water again after the starter had already come, and also our wine which we’d ordered but hadn’t come. We found the setting in mizu lovely and the staff good and friendly. However we felt the food was very average for the price. We also didn’t get told the code or that we would need one at reception to get out the car park. We felt was an important bit of information as would have stopped us having to come back to reception. The spa facilities were lovely and staff great.

We recently stayed at Lodore Falls Hotel for an anniversary and, while there were some positives, overall we left feeling underwhelmed especially considering the £400 price tag for one night. Check-in was smooth and we were kindly given an anniversary card, which was a thoughtful touch. However, we were simply told where our room was rather than being shown or offered help with our bags. At this price point, I expected a higher level of service even hotels we’ve stayed at for much less have provided assistance with luggage and a more personal welcome. Upon entering our room, we were immediately hit with an unpleasant smell of body odour, which meant we had to open the doors straight away to air it out. We had booked a lake view room, and while the view was absolutely stunning truly one of the highlights the room itself was small, and the balcony was dirty and overgrown with weeds. It definitely didn’t reflect the luxury price point. We’ve visited Lodore Falls before for drinks upon going to mizu and always enjoyed it, but this time the drinks in the bar area were very disappointing and warm. Not what you’d expect from a hotel of this standard. Breakfast the next morning was lovely and provided a more positive end to the stay, with a nice variety and good service. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful surroundings, the overall experience did not feel like good value for money. With the lack of attention to detail, underwhelming room condition, and poor bar experience, we wouldn’t rush back. Lodore Falls has so much potential, but sadly this visit didn’t live up to the price or expectations.

I booked a suite in the falls spa hotel. The room was beautiful, we had a terrace with a table & chairs. Everything about it was amazing. We had 2 hours access to the spa and I booked my daughter a treatment as it was her birthday. I think for what it cost especially if you’re booking a suite you should get 3 hours. The evening meal and breakfast was amazing & great staff! Will definitely be back

I booked this spa day hoping for peace, relaxation, and a bit of indulgence — instead, I left feeling tense, frustrated, and totally underwhelmed. The spa was incredibly overcrowded, and the number of loungers didn’t even come close to the number of guests allowed in. I genuinely felt like I couldn’t even leave my seat to go to the loo without someone swooping in and taking it. At one point, I found myself sitting upright in a random chair by a door just to have a place to sit. Not ideal when you’re paying for what’s marketed as a luxury experience. There were also so many strict rules that it became impossible to fully relax. Instead of switching off, I felt like I was constantly second-guessing everything I did — worried I’d be told off for talking, moving a towel, or breathing too enthusiastically in the wrong zone. To top it off, the whole place seemed more focused on looking good on Instagram than actually providing a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. There’s a big difference between “aesthetic” and authentic comfort — and this place has seriously confused the two. I wanted a relaxing escape. What I got was a crowded, uncomfortable, rule-heavy disappointment. I won’t be returning.
