The Royal Hotel

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. When we arrive, we were suppose to choose between twin room or double room and there is no double room available and we were in advance. Then in the room, no shampoo, no soap, the AC was not working well and made a terrible noise even on sleep mode. An old elevator always busy so we had to carry our suitcases ourselves to the 2nd floor. They said a parking was available for the customers but it was full so we had to go park somewhere else. The food especially for breakfast was not good. The tea bags in the room were already open. And the cups were not cleaned (I let you observe the pictures). Apart from the bed being comfortable (but separated from my partner)and the view there was nothing that we have appreciated. Though, It’s not far from Corfu town by car about 15 minutes.

First of all pipe was leaking onto the balcony so there was just puddles of water on the balcony, food crumbs on the bed when we arrived, sun beds are dirty, the pool is dirty, food staff are rude and unhelpful and couldn't care less wether you didn't like the food or whether you had food requirements or dietary requirements, the phone didn't even work in the hotel room so couldn't contact reception for the problems in the room, No wifi either saying they was getting it fixed but obviously its not they were just fobbing us off, shower was dirty still had used products in the shower, food was not edible chips were stale, salad wasn't even washed before hand, spoke to two girls who gave us directions to our room since the reception staff couldn't be bothered to show us where are room was and they said they only stayed two nights and had to leave because the hotel was that bad which was the case for many people who stayed at the hotel some of then actually went back home! people were in tears with the state of the hotel even the staff don't eat from the hotel, they came to fix the air conditioner but it then continued to leak inside over the electric plugs and all over the bed bare in mind the room is a family room for families with kids to stay in, practically a hazzard in itself, and when we spoke to reception about all of this they said the wifi has gone down in area were in then offered us a two bed room that was the size of a box (bare in mind its 3 adults in the room) they were putting up a mattress on the floor, the food was inedible and cold so we spoke to them about that and they said to just throw it in the microwave which is a health hazzard as they should know that it goes against any health and safety in hospitality as that's how bacteria spread so unless u want to be ill for the rest of ur holiday i wouldn't step foot in that dining room over last two nights we have spent €200 euros a day on food to eat out even though we booked all inclusive, all the maids do is change the bins and reset the beds they dont change the beds and wash the sheets so if u do come to this hotel bare in mind ur sleeping in dirty sweaty beds honestly its false advertising i thought i would ignore the bad reviews but honestly listen to us all when we say dont bother wasting your money on this hotel its not worth the penny and they need to be shut down as they are not bothered with what goes on in the hotel even the person fixing the air conditioning said we shouldn't stay here it does not deserve 3 stars it deserves to be shut down at this point its all one big scam and if u do come and complain to reception just know they dong couldnt care as 'not their problem' they will change you to a even worse room, some girl said they found metal in the chicken and the grapes were moldy and so if u have dietary requirements or allergens or even if ur pregnant for your own safety i would not eat from the hotel, the photos they advertise is from a decade ago the hotel is

DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL, IT IS FALSELEY ADVERTISED. The pictures do not reflect the state of the hotel and it is NOT all inclusive even if you pay for that option. Dangerous decking with a sharp drop underneath. Food was inedible. Water offered was from the tap, and all the guests had bad stomachs, which was reflected by the state of the one bathroom down by the pool (which also had no locks on). The toilets were very dirty. We had to move rooms because everytime we used the shower, it made the whole room stink of sewage. Sunbeds were broken and there wasn’t enough for even half the hotel guests. The pool had a mouldy green line around it the entire time and was full of bugs, and other droppings from god knows where. Bugs in the bed. Spent the whole week complaining to the hotel and love holidays who were both awful & unhelpful. Honestly wouldn’t waste your money or time here, we were in tears from the first day at the state of the hotel.

This hotel was terrible, all inclusive- we ate in the restaurant once, the food was inedible, we had to eat out , I am vegetarian and my partner is a full on meat eater with a cast iron stomach and even he would not eat the food available, when the restaurant was closed you had to pay for tea and coffee, one open bar only at the poolside, no snacks available other than what the hotel provided a couple of plates of left over food from lunch at about 4 pm and they were left in the sun on a table in the pool area, flies all around the food, the food was left in the hot sun for about 2 hours, no thanks for me. If you wanted additional snacks they had to be payed for. The pool area was disgustingly dirty and unkempt, the sunbeds were horribly stained with human sweat patches, there was algae all around the waters edge in the pool and algae spreading up the walls around the pool area. The current pool has been erected over the previous pool with decking, when you look through the decking you can see the disgusting green pool underneath, I am surprised we did not become ill due to the appalling conditions and risks of bacteria from the underneath pool, the health and safety is appalling, it does not bare thinking about if a child/elderly/ person fell through this decking. In the pool area there was a games room, the games room had artificial grass on the floor and it was soaking wet and smelt of urine, the toilets around the pool area and within the hotel itself absolutely stank of sewerage, to the point we had to sit on the balcony to get away from the smell. The reception staff were extremely hostile and unapproachable, we complained verbally whilst in resort and backed this up in writing, we have heard nothing in way of apologies. The only positive that I wish to highlight is that the cleaner for the hotel rooms was extremely polite and friendly, no other staff within the hotel would compare to this cleaner. Not suitable for families, definitely not for children. Not suitable if you like good food. Not suitable if you have mobility issues. Pool area very run down and dangerous decking around pool. A room 2 doors down had bed bugs. Poor guy was badly bitten. Not the best location. Planes are a huge noise disruption from 7 in the morning to the wee early hours some nights. Wasps and mozzies a huge problem. The wasps because no one cleans around the pool through the day til a new staff member comes at 4 pm. No kettle in rooms which love holidays advertised but have now removed. If you're looking for a cheap base and don't mind the planes oh or the drain smells in some rooms then I guess it would be passable. Photos are very old. The ground do not look like the photos now.
