Stayed for three nights on the special deal, £130 for two of us for bed and breakfast, the full English was excellent, we also ate all three evenings in the hotel, the food is superb with plenty of choices. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Even the locals were friendly to talk to. The room was old but clean and had tea and coffee making facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and did plenty of walking nearby. Will definitely stay here again.

The pub is a quirky, genuine old inn and the rooms are small but comfortable enough. Showers and washbasins are small but do the job. Dinner was pretty good, the mussels were excellent. Puddings were… slightly not great, to be honest. But the welcome was excellent, the staff are lovely and the atmosphere was friendly. Very biker-friendly too. Breakfast was superb, and included with the room rate for us. A good find.

I arrived at a little before 10.30pm, having spent 5 1/2 hours driving to find, despite having booked a room, that the lights were off and the doors locked. I called at 10pm to let them know I would be late checking in and there was no answer, but I pressed on, assuming they were too busy to take my call. This was not what I needed after a long drive and ahead of an early start the following day.

Arrived early for check in and was warmly greeted, shown to our room, tea, coffee facilities available. Small bathroom but it was adequate for the one night stayed, I did get locked in the shower cubicle so either don’t shower in the room alone or leave the door slightly open. A good comfortable nights sleep no noise or disturbances from other guests be it from this world or other! Good cooked breakfast and all in all a good stay value for money and lovely staff. I would return.

Friendly, helpful staff. Made us feel very welcome. Good pub food. Basic accommodation, clean and warm. Great location for Pennine Way and for Haworth (Brontes). Nestled in beautiful countryside. Bearing in mind this is a 400 year old inn, the decor is rather dated but we found it easy to overlook that as staying here was such good fun.

Extremely disappointing - Avoid at all costs! - this is probably the worst experience that I have had in a pub in the U.K. - understaffed and out of depth - only one person in the pub serving and one “chef’ - main course was burnt and hard “gammon” which was hard thin bacon that broke into pieces when the knife tried to cut it (‘it was gammon - it said so on the pack’ it was however, changed without fuss to a fish dish but this was raw in the centre - having complained, at the quality now of two courses, an older person was brought in - my friends had finished their meals - the new person, possibly the owner didn’t introduce herself and got aggressive - totally unacceptable behaviour - we all felt very intimidated - no apology from anyone ,just - ‘she cooked it like the other meals and followed the recipe book’! In sum- appalling experience not what we expected after driving 75miles up from Nottinghamshire - I would not recommend the Old Silent Inn to anyone - Avoid!

We decided to go with friends who had driven a long way today to visit us. It was a memorable meal for all the wrong reasons. Initially all went well with a reasonable starter. But whilst 3 of us then ate our to be honest only adequate main courses, our friend waited having expressed concerns that his main course was overcooked ( they said it was gammon but it was clearly two thin pieces of overcooked bacon) and then had no choice but to abandon his replacement meal as the fish was inedible, really obviously raw. Whilst this was being dealt with we all felt uncomfortable, unable to relax and enjoy our food including as our friend went into the kitchen to discuss what was happening. The ongoing wait and discussions impacted on us all. To note there was hardly anyone else in the pub! The initial person who served us said she was sorry. But she seemed out of her depth and when we suggested we should pay only half of the bill she sought the help of a colleague. You would have expected the owner to be apologetic but on the contrary, the owner (we think it was the owner) claimed the fish was cooked and within seconds she became aggressive, shouty and told her colleague we could pay half the Bill and then we must leave. We were very happy to depart. She ignored the evidence of their poorly cooked food, denied the impact on the rest of us ( as we had eaten our meals) and then to become abusive is something none of us can remember experiencing. We remained polite throughout. We were quite shaken by her attitude given the poor quality of the food and our dreadful experience. We note that others have recently posted very poor reviews, they have also been more than disappointed. A lovely old pub with bad food and appalling customer service. Avoid..

The place was so terrible that we didn't stay! At lunch time the place was deserted and we met up with my sister and brother-in - law and the food was terrible. Our room was tiny, only a skylight and two very soft mattressed single beds. Regused to cgange our room as supposedly all booked but no one was around. Avoid at all costs. Grotty and dirty abd chef can't cook
