Edn Hotel Kearney

Who makes the lodgings reservations? Normally I do, and then am occasionally criticized for their subtle indications of economy. I guess one way to handle it would be to book pricier accommodations, but then again another might be to delegate the responsibility. When Mrs. AAR was reviewing the options with our Travel Companions, I was surprised to hear her mention that the Hilton was too expensive and that we should go with Edn Hotel Kearney. When I saw the price ($75/night tax incl), I became a little concerned. A concern that wasn't assuaged by the photo contained in a subsequent confirmation email from *******. In the end, it wasn't really that bad: clean, a comfortable bed, scaldingly hot water and free warm hard boiled eggs for breakfast. Bottom Line: the nicest cheapest place I've stayed in since a Motel 6 in Paris, Texas in 2020. The place has: 1. TCM, Disney (and Disney Jr), ESPN, ESPN2, HBO and HGTV as well as over 100 other channels. 2. Free breakfast that includes the aforementioned eggs. 3. A laundry room I'd give this place (which used to be a Rodeway Inn) a 3.5 if I could.

Every time I reserved thru hotwire for a "deal" I end up regretting it, and his is no exception (you'd think i'd have learned by now). We stayed one night (enough) to figure out we should've stayed elsewhere. First, when we checked in I noticed the extensive rules against smoking (even fining the occupier if their clothes smell like smoke and it its transferred to the bed/furniture they'd be fined), which I don't have a problem with as smoke smell is disgusting. BUT the hotel is permeated with "that smell" (curry) which is repulsive. Smoking = disgusting. Curry = repulsive. Next, when we used the east end door to unpack, the owners (I presume) are using the far east room as an apartment and living out of it, and had the their door wide open. So as we went in and out there were the owners family (again, I presume) eyeballing us. Nothing like a big "welcome" to the motel like being visually screened as we transferred our luggage in (and obviously this is where "that smell" is originating from). Personally, i find curry nauseating and was queasy from when we walked in until we left. So in conclusion, if you like curry, and want to get an up close of a family living there this place is for you.
