Stay was ok for one night. Not a great example of a 21C in my opinion. Room was clean and spacious, but literally 3 steps away from elevator so I heard the "ding" all night, and the bar dumped their glass bottles into a dumpster outside, on the same side as rooms, which was very loud. I had to call to get shampoo and soap, as there were none in room when I checked in. Drinks in bar are phenomenal - they are truly artists - and was the highlight of the stay.

It's average but drab. The modern renovations to the old building don't work. Staff was nice enough and helpful.

This is NOT a cookie-cutter hotel property. It is quirky & unique & gorgeous! Art galore! Staff was attentive, room was clean, quiet & peaceful. Several parking options very close to property. Easy walk to free streetcar. We cannot wait to go back...

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. They have so many “rules” that they don’t bother telling you about. Usually you request an early check in/late check out before you get there, but here you have to call the morning of to ask for it, and only then will they “see if it is possible.” Basically, it is a race to see who can request the fastest. The only way to get any drinking water is if you go all the way to the second floor where they have a neon art piece that flashes (whether intentional or not), which is very unsafe for people like myself who are extremely sensitive to flashing lights or people who are epileptic. And the only way to get ice is if you go all the way down to the front desk. Housekeeping is a joke. Apparently YOU have to take the sheets off the bed yourself and put them outside the door, THEN they’ll change them out for you. And they don’t even bother cleaning up the room, they just change the towels and empty one of the trash cans. They can’t be bothered to empty the other or even make the bed. Oh, but if housekeeping is gone they will allow you to change your own sheets. The bathroom wasn’t clean when we arrived either. There was hair in the shower. I have very fine, blonde hair, and on the wall and somehow ceiling there were strands of black, coiled/textured hair. And it was most certainly not mine. Even if you pay for the room in full, if you decide to leave early (or have to in our case) they will try and charge you yet another fee.

Elevator went out on 2/24. Stairwell doors were then left open allowing anyone, including non-hotel guests, to access the floors. Once elevator was repaired, stairwell doors were locked from the inside which is a fire code violation. In addition, coffee not replenished after day 1 and our bed was not made and wash cloths not replaced after second day. And whoever replaced the towels after second day urinated in our toilet without flushing. I emailed several staff about the elevator issue and never received a response. Terrible experience and will not stay there again.

We were very underwhelmed with this hotel! First of all we had a room with frosted windows, felt like we were in a jail cell. Parts were missing from bathroom sink and the faucet constantly dripped water and when we used the hot water, the water hammer sounded like the pipes were about to come out of the wall. As if that all wasn't bad enough in an apparently upscale hotel, we'd just got into bed when a terrible high pitched whistle started up.... figured it was coming once again from the problematic hot faucet, we ended up turning the hot water back on...it was like relieving a valve about to burst, this didn't stop it straight away...had to leave the water running for quite some time to calm it down which started the water hammer back up...this happened on and off all night. It was like a practical joke of some sort...we were taking turns getting up to it during the night. Told front desk in the am and they said they'd mention it to someone.... unbelievable, like no apology or anything!!!! And just to add insult to injury the light wouldn't switch off in the wardrobe so had that on all night too!!! NOT NOT NOT worth the money!

The hotel was confusing from the outside, but once you realize where you are its a unique piece of history to stay at that has a modern flare with the furniture and style. The museum in the lobby is an added fun experience that I honestly wasn't expecting. Only downfall was bed was uncomfortable and reminded me of an air mattress and the bathroom was a little run down.
