A really quaint place to stay. The hotel is like a time warp, it's like you've gone back in time. The owners were so friendly and extremely helpful and informative. Very comfortable 4 poster beds. A lovely breakfast was included with Tea and Coffee available anytime of day. The only negative was guests using the jacuzzi until 01:45 hrs, then again at 07:00hrs, very selfish. Maybe a usage time could be instigated.

As an independent hotel owner in America, I support independent hotels when I travel. That being said, I am rarely impressed. That changed when I spent a week at the lovely 1902 Kurrara Guest House. The location is quiet, yet close enough to Katoomba's great restaurants and shops. The owners, Ian and Evelyn have included so many nice touches in and out of the rooms. They are a delightful couple. Breakfast has more offered than anyone could ever need. Definitely choose this guest house. I travel to Katooms twice a year to visit my brother. Kurrara is the first place I want to go back to over and over. I have found the best. I’m sure you will agree.

Beautiful old home, well decorated and maintained. We didn’t get to use the common rooms very much, as we were out most of the day. We met Iain at check-in and he showed us our room, then never saw either of the hosts for the rest of our stay. Our room was on the second floor in the Lily Premium Suite, which was a good size. It had all the amenities. The bed was very comfortable and kept us warm under the electric blankets. The room itself gets cold overnight as we turned off the electric heater, and the bathroom was quite cold in the morning to have a shower. The radiator did not project any heat. The breakfast buffet was good, however do get there right at 8am, because otherwise you’ll miss out on some of the best stuff that is not replenished. The lady works very hard to cook the hardboiled eggs (on demand only) the croissants (only 4 at a time). One hour is very short to have 16 guests in and out. While I didn’t mind, I have never been at a B&B where they ask you to clear your table. The sunroom at the back was quite chilly as the overnight temperature was around 4-6C. Coffee was not available in the morning before the dining room door opened at 8am. The whole house and our bedroom did smell quite musty and some people with asthma or other chronic respiratory disorders may have some issues. Overall, I was a bit disappointed and had probably set my expectations too high after reading the raving reviews.

Our stay at Kurrara Historic Guest House (set in a beautiful garden) exceeded our expectations in every area - the quiet location was perfect (a short walk to town and cafes and close to walking trails), the bed very comfortable, our room spotlessly clean, a lovely hot shower and a delicious breakfast (including perfectly boiled eggs). Evelyn and Iain made us feel welcome and we were free to make a pot of tea (with a variety of leaves) or proper coffee at any time. All of the dining recommendations that Evelyn made were excellent. Thank you for a delightful 3 night stay. Next time I would like to stay longer!

Our cottage accommodation in Wentworth Falls fell through and on reviewing the Blue Mountains tourism brochure we came across Kurrara Historic Guest House. We phoned the accommodation and spoke to Iain who advised us that he had rooms available for a 3 night stay. It was 6 pm by the time we reached Kurrara and Iain showed us the English Rose and another room. We settled on the English Rose as the room was beyond perfect. The 3 night stay was just unforgettable....comfortable clean accommodation and great hosts in Iain and Evelyn. The guest rooms were so tastefully decorated and brought an old-world charm to our stay. The lounge room was also where we had sumptuous breakfasts every day and afternoon tea too. There were so many offerings for breakfast, I loved the homemade muesli and Buderim ginger marmalade on toast. Evelyn recommended the Katoomba Falls lookout by night, and that was another highlight of our stay. A most memorable stay, highly recommended.

Cozy historic cottage . The whole place is quaint warm and most of all clean. This old house is well kept but of course made of wood so that is to be expected you will hear it when you walk on the second floor , Duh?! We stayed in the smallest room but it was enough space to be comfortable and to move around . The bed was super comfy it was hard to get out of it and there was adequate heating in the room. I guess the reason for the very good rating instead of excellent was just that the water mixer needs fixing. We didnt complain but will advise on our way out. Things get broken so unfortunately it was on our time here. The hosts were lovely Ian and evelyn in welcoming us and making sure we are happy and attended to. The light breakfast was nice , good amounts of breads selection theres berries and stone fruits yoghurt , a selection cereal muesli , many teas (which i love) and all sorts of milk selection. Lovely tea cups and saucerz . They also offer little sweet snacks for afternoon tea and the fireplace lit up in the afternoon which I think is amazing. We also used their entertainment room which got up to date movies which we also enjoyed . This area is about 12 mins walk to the restaurants and shops and about 20 mins to echo point which is great to burn off the breakfast hehe. There is also a bus stop which is about 5mins walk if you want to dont want to walk that much. A lovely experience we will consider coming back.

Kurrara is a charming, family-run guest house. Set in one of the original historic estate homes with small, cosy rooms and full of antiques, it has an old world, traditional Blue Mountains feel about it. I’d recommend arriving in time for afternoon tea, a complimentary selection of sweet treats, tea and coffee which was laid out in a pretty dining/lounge area. Breakfast was included. We sat out in the sun room area, overlooking the English cottage-style garden. There was a good selection of hot and cold food - cereals, fruits and eggs done to order. In the evenings there is a cosy sitting/reading room, with complimentary port (although disappointingly this had already been polished off by the time we got back from our restaurant). Location is very convenient. It’s close to the very popular Echo Point Lookout and the start of the Three Sisters walking trail. The Katoomba town centre is only a couple of minutes by car (but a long-ish walk). The owner/host was there to greet us on arrival and was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants, walks and things to do. Overall, if you are looking for something with character and a personal touch, then this is perfect.

The Kurrara Guest House is truly historic and most comfortable. Iain was a fabulous host, welcoming with excellent travel tips and served a delectable breakfast before sending us on our way. Conveniently located to see the sights of Katoomba and walking distance to the main drag and restaurants. Recommend highly!
