I went here for my Birthday in January 2021. The resort was breathtaking almost like you entered a magical botanical garden. The grounds were impressive and well maintained. The food was delicious plentiful and there was variety. The fruits were so sweet it was like the best versions Ive ever had. The room was beautiful and spacious the bathroom area was huge the BEACH was pristine the customer service was top knotch. They had a sustainable garden that was absolutely beautiful and had every herb and veggies you could think of. I had a wonderful time and it was one of the most memorable experiences I ever had! Ohh how can I forget the beauty of the local people and the children we went deep into town and felt completely safe and unnoticed the taxi driver chaperoned and serve as an informative tour guide. I love love Melia Zanzibar and look forward to visiting other parts of Africa as the people were so warm and welcoming.

So, this is only the second review I've written on trip advisor where I'm not entirely positive and I will try be as balanced as I can. Generally speaking, if I have something negative to say, I'll say it at the time in the hopes of getting the issue rectified. I spoke to 2 managers at the time and have also had a constructive email conversation with the hotel manager since arriving home. If it's something minor or inconvenient, it's not fair to leave a poor review, often these things are beyond the vendor's control and things happen when you travel. In these instances, I just don't leave a review at all. My only fully negative review was in 2015 so hopefully that gives you some context. We booked Meliá Zanzibar for the second leg of our Honeymoon. We spent an amazing week in Kenya and this week was going to be our chill by the pool, eating and drinking away our first 2 weeks married. (We got married on the Friday, left for our honeymoon on the Monday!) Booking and dealing with Meliá was very easy. I had a few questions and because of flight changes there were beyond our control, I had to rearrange our organist pick up from the airport. The car ride to the hotel was straightforward (though the driver drove quite hard all the way which was a little nerve wreaking. Nothing to do with the hotel, just maybe that;s how taxi drivers drive in Zanzibar! Very friendly man though!) We arrived about 9pm and checked in, It had been a long day traveling but the staff member that checked us in was very helpful. She suggested we go for dinner before heading to the room as it dinner was nearly over. The hotel's menu is accessed by phone using a QR code, which is convenient. Our server was friendly but not overly helpful in helping us navigate the gluten free options. Now, in fairness, we had had a long day traveling so that might have contributed to our frustrations. We had a lovely meal and a very tasty cocktail. We were brought by cart to our room and Benson helped us with our bags. (Benson used to be a guide in the Maasai Mara so insisted on carrying both bags, showing no signs of struggle!! A lovely man.) Our room was amazing. Just as advertised. We booked a Romance Pavilion. There are a few of them, with one directly beside us. The others a further away. Our room had a lovely comfortable bed, nice shower and bath, mini fridge etc. House keeping did an amazing job looking after the room and the mosquito net made us feel very safe at night. While on the subject, it's not over clear from the website but the resort is spread over about 2km or so. So the level pool and restaurant is a 15 min walk from the other parts of the hotel and most likely your room of the spice market for example. This isn't a problem though as there is carts that bring guests to and from the different parts of the hotel and there is never a long wait. 2/3 mins at most. All the staff we met were lovely and friendly and would always say hello. We had an all inclusive pac

Thank you so much for an AMAZING stay. The airline lost my luggage and so turned up with nothing. They did everything they can to reunite me with my case and successfully got it back for me. The staff are what make this place so special. One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Food was delicious. Gym was fantastic. More than 5 stars everything was PERFECT! Thank you so much to all the staff who are welcoming, happy and helpful.

My husband and I visited Melia Zanzibar for our honeymoon in December 2023. I have been so impressed by the quality and hospitality of Melia. We stayed at a Melia resort in the Serengeti as well. The property was stunning and had so much to do! At some of the public beaches in Zanzibar we were unable to avoid being asked for money or followed. Staying at Melia allowed us to feel very safe and allowed us to relax and enjoy our vacation. The food was excellent and all of the staff were so wonderful!

Absolutely wonderful. Melia is the hidden gem of Zanzibar. We could not have asked for anything more. Simply perfect. Just what we needed after three weeks of safari. Understated elegance. Just perfect. The kindness and warmth and attention from staff was exceptional. We miss Molly, the resident cat! Your kindness to her made all of us even more loyal to Melia. Take great care of her and we hope to see you again in December! Bravo

Really great hotel located by the beautiful beach. Service was excellent in the entire hotel, but I would like to mention few people that made our stay unforgettable, that is Elifuraha, Frederick and Edwin. We really appreciate their help and kindness.

Great Resort for families, lots of greenery and vegetation. You also have the chance to see monkeys and visit a cave in the resort. There are plenty of beach and pool activities and the food was excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We had full body massages in the spa by Felister, Boke, Neema and Jamila and they were the best we have ever had!! Would highly recommend. The whole place was beautiful and the staff were so polite, smiley and attentive. Food was high quality and great variety with perfect evening music.
