Excellent quiet location. Good overnight facilities at the safari camp. Lou was able to help us with organising a boat on Kariba, and helping to organise stores for the trip etc. Secure parking whilst we were on the Lake, with electricity available for our fridges. Food was good for dinner and breakfast. Limited but no complaints.

A really warm welcome from Louisa and Wayne who run the camp, and all the staff set the scene for a good four-day stay in a camper van. There are panoramic views of Lake Kariba from the bar and (small) swimming pool area. Delicious food is available. The ablution blocks are excellent. Lots of wild animals, including elephants and zebra come through the campsite. Hippos (and crocodiles) are 200 metres away in Lake Kariba.

I can't recommend Warthogs enough. Idyllic is the first word that comes to mind. Took quite a different kind of a trip from my last time out, and stayed only a night with 10 friends and family. We enjoyed amazing hospitality. We were going to go on a houseboat the following day and on disembarking from our bus, staff were quickly organised to take our load of luggage and supplies to our tents, and some cold storage was organised for some of our drinks. The tents were as clean as I remembered them from a year earlier. The Zebras happily grazed right by the tents, and from the bar, looking out at the floodplain at dusk we were thrilled to see the hippos coming out to feed. We enjoyed a decent dinner, though it took time to prepare. We were impressed that all the food was served hot. Pizza crusts were rather tough, but tasty. The bar was well-stocked and inviting. We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise in the morning and saw waterbuck, a yellow-billed stork, a marabou stork flew overhead, a lilac-breasted roller pearched in a nearby tree, and many other lovely birds. Breakfast was a treat. When it was time to leave, the staff were again on hand to help us pack our stuff onto the bus. Everyone was super impressed by Warthogs and its beauty, and just as last year, we left with a promise to come back another time that we have every intention to fulfill! Great work, Lou and Barbs! See you again soon!

Wow, what a change, haven't been here for a few years. Beautiful tented rooms plus a wonderful camp site with power and water supplied, lovely ablutions. Elephants in camp almost every day, not to mention the daily visits by water buck, zebra and bush buck. Glorious view from the restaurant/bar area, great and helpful, welcoming staff, simply the bes

I stayed at Warthogs for three nights and it was unbelievable. The tent was perfect, comfortable bed and furnishings and a great patio in front that faces the hippos that came one night. Elephants and other wildlife roam through the camp all day and night, as the owners say, we are visitors in their land, and it’s amazing to be in their land and near them. The restaurant food was great, staff were all very friendly, especially the owners of the camp, they are both wonderful, caring people! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Attached pictures show the elephants that came to visit at the pool and zebras that came at night. Truly amazing. I can’t wait to go back.

I was travelling as part of a group of 8. We had just got off the over night ferry, along the kariba dam, and were spending a night a warthogs before heading on. We were treated by the very friendly staff and made to feel like part of the family. Babs took us to view our accommodation and they had gone to extra lengths to accommodate our group by converting the beauty room into extra, well appointed, bedrooms. They really couldn’t have done more. One of our party was having problems with their hire campers battery and camping fridge. Goat was straight in there to help and reassure them that the system was working and going over how the solar worked. All the facilities were lovely and clean and the bar was fully stocked. Would highly recommend Thanks all at Warthogs

We had been down to see the sunset view along the south edge of Kariba. On our return to our rather boring hotel, we decided to stop off for a sundowner at Warthogs. What a pleasure. With a real old style bush bar, and all the accoutrements, it was a pleasure to have a few beers and watch the sunset. Our hosts, Wayne and Louisa made couldn’t have been More welcoming. We decided to stay for supper, which turned out to be simple but tasty and nicely presented. We were so thrilled with our find that we decided that we would definitely give the hotel a miss for breakfast, and returned the following morning at 7am to be rewarded with en excellent full English breakfast, and freshly brewed coffee. The birding and wildlife was amazing to see, during the two hours that we were there.

We spent a very pleasant and relaxing Easter weekend at the camp. Our classic tent was comfortable, clean and very well maintained. The management and staff are delightful - helpful and knowledgeable without being intrusive. We were made to feel very welcome. The bar is lively, with a lot of passing trade and locals - so even lone visitors have company and feel welcome. The restaurant is very good, with a wide range to meals to choose from and they would do a "mix and match" approach if you requested. Both the bar and restaurant are very reasonably priced and great value. We had a view of the lake from our tent, surrounded by mopani trees full of birds. We were able to walk down to the lake and bird watch - notching up over 70 species. Not bad since most of the summer migrants had left.
