The hotel in Karatsu is a new hotel in the station and shopping street, while there are many large hotels on the riverside and seaside. 2 minutes walk from the station. The 3rd floor 1 floor of the commercial facility is the hotel. Simple interior, clean and comfortable stay. The shopping street around is never lively, but there are shops that can taste the yuki of Genkai Nada, including a sushi shop with Michelin stars. Breakfast is at the cafe on the first floor. The toast set, bread and thick cut bacon were delicious. There is no parking lot, the station north exit parking lot is recommended, 500 yen to 12 hours. It was a comfortable Karatsu stay.

We chose this hotel as part of a stopover, so we could visit nearby Yobuko (to eat squid). Looking at the Japanese travel sites, it was unclear to me what the difference was between the east and west wing, but I'm so glad to have chosen the east wing which turns out to be their newer addition with premium amenities such as a communal onsen bath by gender and a co-ed rooftop thermal pool/bath that you can go to in your bathing suit. This hotel appears to be owned by DHC, which is a Japanese cosmetics manufacturer because everything in the hotel bears their brand. The nice thing is that their products are very stellar and they are readily available. The communal bath is particularly well stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, facial wash etc. They also have a full spa facility with steam and dry sauna, aromatherapy rooms etc It was also a pleasure to have access to the beautiful baths and pool almost exclusively. We spent a lot of evenings after dinner soaking on the rooftop, listening to the sound of the waves. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk away from the center of the city, but it is a beautiful route that takes you past the castle. The entire experience far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.

The building itself is quite old, and it feels old, especially around the water. Hospitality is not bad. There is no convenience store near the hotel, and PET water and tea can be purchased at the front desk for ¥ 100. There is only one fixed-route bus per hour, so the range of action is limited unless you are a car. As for dining, the quality of dinner was not as good as the Takasago Onjuku in Ureshino where I stayed before. It was not delivered to the room but was eaten in the restaurant, but it was quite rich. Of course there would be Ureshino tofu for breakfast, but I really didn’t have any tsukemono. feel… The air conditioner in the room was a bit too powerful, so it was relatively dry. The hot spring is not a big place. I feel that the area on the second floor is much larger than the first floor. According to the hotel's own introduction, it has a history of two hundred years. In the words of the four old Nagasaki aunties who I met while bathing and eating, it’s a すべすべ~ Unfortunately, there is no ice milk vending machine, and an additional 300 yen hot spring tax will be paid when checking out.

If you were to ask me what I liked about it, I would answer, ”The islands were beautiful.” There aren't even a single souvenir shop outside the hotel shop nearby, but there are well-maintained campsites and rental canoe grounds that are sure to attract many visitors in the summer. The hotel itself is a little old, but it has been renovated in various places, and the rooms and halls have been cleaned in an orderly manner. 30-40 meters from the room is a white sandy beach with a great promenade. The meal was at the adjacent restaurant, but I was surprised by the number of small dishes for both dinner and breakfast. I felt the difficulty of the hotel staff when I saw them serving the food and lighting the rice. After running through the forest road for a while from Route 204, there is a particularly large white building by the sea below. It was a winter night where we, an elderly couple, could enjoy peace and relaxation. It is an inn that I would like to visit again.

Recommended as a hot spring accessible by train from Hakata Station! The train station was farther than I thought, but it was worth walking.
