Sharon Inn

I don’t know who writes all of these favorable reviews. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you cannot see the lake from the room. The facilities inside the room all look dated and in a horrible condition. I had to put the bedroom table against the balcony door to keep monkeys from opening it while I was away. Wifi does not reach the top floors and even when you can connect at reception it doesn’t really work. They don’t accept card payment and that is a huge issue, considering how much they try to overcharge you for everything. Breakfast is very simple yet they expect you to pay 1500 rupees?! Dinner, as much as other’s praise it, is your typical curry display, and I had to ask for the chicken because they would only serve vegetables. And that was almost 4000 rupees!! I have had more varied and delicious (and cheaper) curry sets in the middle of the jungle. The worst thing is that they don’t tell you how much it is until you already have to set the bill for your whole stay. The owner was barely present and would only show up for dinner time. And he is the only one who speaks any English. Please, avoid this, it is better to find somewhere cheap near the lake, this hotel should not be listed anywhere decent.

We stayed at the Sharron Inn for four nights . My wife and I are from Australia. The accommodation and our stay was very comfortable with the staff and management fulfilling all our needs.The Breakfast was good and the Dinner exceptional. We were even entrained each night by the management that had a great ending to each day.Thank you Sharron Inn for your hospitality we will be back.

Went for an amazing dinner here. Some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. A wonderful buffet style service with healthy delicious curries, veg and chicken. The host was gracious and ended the evening with some lovely guitar. Would 100% recommend.

We went to Sharon inn for dinner. Fantastic freshly cooked food, amazing selection- great for veggie/vegans. Lovely, laid back atmosphere and the owner got his guitar out at the end of the evening which added to the fun. Friendly waiter dropped us back to our hotel in his tuk tuk.

We were recommended the Sharon Inn restaurant as a great place for a traditional Sri Lankan dinner and what we found there exceeded all our expectations. A small hotel hidden on the slopes of the mountains that line the southern shore of Lake Kandy and are covered by the Dunumadallawa Forest, at the end of a small and steep Saranankara Road, lies a treasure of Sri Lankan hospitality. We arrived on a rainy day as a group of four, quite late at night, so we were the only guests at that time. Not even half an hour had passed since our unannounced arrival, and in the middle of the dining room, a fabulous buffet appeared, the number of courses of which exceeded receptions organized by famous restaurants. The owner himself described each specialty to us, pointed out everything that could be a pitfall for a European, and we couldn't help but be amazed at the variety of tastes and the quality of the food prepared at this time. We also had the opportunity to talk with the owner after our dinner about everything we were interested in, whether it was culture, economy, politics, the stories of his own family or our work here in Sri Lanka, he also played and sang for us. The experience was simply fabulous and we got impressed. Anyone looking for a more interesting place in Kandy than the luxury hotels or the expected tourist standard should absolutely stop at Sharon Inn. .
