I had hoped to not post this, but the attitude of the owners has given me no choice. I do not like conflict, and I hate to post reviews like this. I had made a reservation and was very excited to come stay at this guesthouse (it is in an amazing location, obviously). About 3 weeks before my planned stay I was told by my doctor that I would need surgery and that the only time he could do the surgery was in the middle of my planned vacation to the Landgasthof Ruedihus. I immediately contacted the property to let them know of this change and that I would need to cancel my reservation. Again, this was 3 weeks before my planned stay. They would have had more than enough time to have someone else book the room that I had reserved. They flat out refused my cancellation request, saying that I would be required to pay the full amount as I had agreed in my initial reservation. No room for negotiation, no empathy, just a “nope, sorry about your situation, better luck next time.” I fully understand charging the full amount when a person cancels on the day they were supposed to arrive (as the property would have no time to allow someone else to book the reserved room), but this notice was provided 3 weeks in advance. Most hotels and guest houses that have ethical owners would have no issue not charging, thus I was taken aback by their rude and unprofessional approach to my very reasonable medical cancellation. It is clear that the owners of this property do not care about the medical wellbeing of their potential clients. As they do not care about the wellbeing of their customers, I would highly recommend not staying here, regardless of how beautiful the scenery around the location is. Unprofessional property owners like this give other owners a bad name. It’s very unfortunate and surprising to be treated this way. I highly recommend steering well clear of this location. My family and I are deeply hurt by this whole experience. Find some alternative lodging where the owners have a reasonable outlook and will not force you to pay them for cancelling nearly a month in advance if a medical emergency comes up.
