The most amazing hotel we have been during our 2 weeks trip in Sri Lanka. The room is great, the swimming pool a pleasure and the food is amazing. We had as well a massage and it was the best massage of all our trip !! All the staff was incredibly nice, and respectful. The place is really calm. It’s a paradise, you can’t miss this place!

We had a beautiful experience staying at the lake lodge boutique hotel. It was our second hotel in Sri Lanka and definitly an amazing experience. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is very kind and professional and the food is delicious. Thank you to Michel and his team for the warm welcome

We had a three night stay on our Sri Lanka tour and Lake Lodge is an excellent base from which to explore the cultural highlights of this region. We were warmly greeted by Michel and his team and they really looked after us during our stay - nothing was too much trouble. Our room was well equipped and spotless. An afternoon beside the pool after climbing Sigiriya was a delight as were the cocktails! The food was excellent , a good choice, well prepared and beautifully served. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Booked hotel through luxurious Lanka - a great suggestion. Friendly helpful staff in an owner run hotel. Delicious meals- a wonderful chef! Comfortable rooms with a great views. Great pool - overall a perfect base for the cultural triangle.

This charming and intimate boutique hotel was a great anchor accommodation for 4 days of touring Sigiriya, Dambulla, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. The pool was fabulous, staff became familiar with us and consistently exceeded expectations. Room was clean and spacious. Air conditioning worked great and was appreciated since it rained most everyday, a nice reprieve from the hot sticky outdoors… We enjoyed our breakfasts of delicious Sri Lankan omelettes, fresh fruits and breads. (Ask for Sri Lankan heat in omelettes if you like spicy, which we do!) We ate dinner at the hotel 3 nights—all were very good. They offer a varied menu with nightly specials. Owner, Michelle, and all the staff made our stay very nice.

My friend and I had a beautiful overnight stay in Lake Lodge. The pool was so inviting and relaxing. We enjoyed a couple of ice cold beers before our Ayurveda massage (wich was incredible) We had a beautiful dinner prepared by the chef, western and Sri Lankan food is available from the menu. You have to try the spicy chicken curry. So good! The rooms are lovely with a view of treetops. Also have all the amenities and mini bar. We were looked after so well by the beautiful, friendly staff. On arrival we lit the tall brass welcoming candle. Such a lovely touch with tradition. I thoroughly recommend to Stay at Lake Lodge. You will want to stay longer. We wish we could’ve. 🙏

We had a wonderful stay at Lake Lodge. We were taken very good care of, particularly with my food intolerances by the amazing chef. The setting is very quiet, the pool was lovely and the location is close to the major attractions of Sigiriya, Pidurangala and the cave temple. We even spotted some giant squirrels in the trees. Thank you Michel and staff for a memorable stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Sigiriya (Lion Rock), Poloonaruwa and Dambulla (Temple Caves) This 12 room luxury resort is located near the shores of Lake Kandalama, near Dambulla and is well located to visit other attractions in the region including those I mentioned above. We were personally greeted by the owner Michel and his Manager on arrival and check-in procedures were conducted pool side overlooking the lake whilst sipping our welcome drink. The rooms are large, spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly want or need. This hotel is all about service. Everything is anticipated by the staff. Drinks and snacks appear as soon as you settle by the pool, rooms are tidied and clean the minute you step out the door, the waiter appears to take your order as soon as you look up and a staff member appears like magic with a torch to light your way back to your room after your meal. Please, please do eat at the restaurant as it is like having your own personal chef. We ate at some great restaurants in The Galle Face in Colombo, The Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya and the Marriot Hotel at Weligama Beach but for us the three meals we had at the Lake Lodge were the best we had in our 18 days in Sri Lanka. We would also rate our stay here as the most enjoyable.

I had high hopes for the food at this hotel, but it ended up being one of the worst parts of my stay. I ordered from the restaurant menu and was incredibly disappointed. The pasta was overcooked and swimming in a watery, flavorless sauce. The chicken dish I tried the next night was dry and clearly reheated — not something you’d expect from a so-called “Luxury boutique” hotel restaurant. Even the presentation looked rushed and unappetizing. To make matters worse, the food took forever to arrive, and the staff didn’t seem particularly bothered. For the price, I expected much higher quality. Save your money and eat elsewhere.
