The area of this lodge is beautiful and you are only a ten minute drive from some great trails. The food overall is quite good, the afternoon tea and charcuterie was a lovely highlight! The staff are friendly, and it was wonderful in the sense that the place is smaller capacity, so there are few people around and you can find privacy to enjoy the views. If you go, ask about the shape of the drive up to the resort. When we were there, the roads were incredibly rutted due to accumulated erosion that had gotten out of hand. If they get this fixed, cars would be able to navigate it, but when we were there, I was glad to have a truck otherwise I would not have been able to reach the parking lot. My 3-star is mainly because for a 2-day stay, based on the overall experience and comparing it to other similar places, the value wasn't quite there for me. The property definitely needs some TLC, and there was pressure to leave a big tip at the end when we had paid in advance and so had no bill to settle up. Normally I have no issue tipping in everyday situations, but other than having meals brought out, we didn't interact with anyone beyond how you might at a hotel's front desk to ask a question or two. At this place's price point, that's expected service. So being pressured to leave a % tip on leaving left a bit of a sour note for me.
