This stay was an absolute shambles. Arrived early hours of the morning and room we were given was very dirty, toilet was a disgrace so we went back to request another room. Only to be told that he was just night porter and couldn’t do anything. So we had to sit in reception for a few hours until staff arrived. We then went to our second room and again this was filthy, the cup in the room was actually stuck to the plate. We ended up in n a third room and just made do with it. Only first day of holiday and wished we did not stay here. The pool area was nice, but staff there just did not seem to care. On phones and haven’t to get their attention for service so we ended up spending all our time she money at other places. We had breakfast one morning and it was not nice, flies all over it as it was laid out, no staff doing anything about the flies either. I could go on with other issues which we encountered when there but I won’t. Only regret I have is not just going and staying somewhere else. We come over to Kalkan a lot as do our extended family and come here for the barbecue nights in the summer which was very average. Us along with our family will never step foot in the terrible place again. Don’t stay here, plenty of other amazing places to stay. Worst hotel experience we have had in a long long time.

OK we arrived at the resort at 3am in the morning to be told the room we had been booked into was on the 2nd floor, after explaining this had been changed by TUI we were told no rooms available on the ground floor, (I am 71 and have walking problems).I told the guy I cant walk and he launched into some surreal chat about the facilities at the place including an attempted tour of the swimming pool.We stood our ground and we given access to an uncleaned courtesy room with one scratchy thin blanket.I think Colditz would have been more cozy.Next morning again after being told no rooms available we were given a self catering room. The rooms really need an update and on first glance seem quite clean and comfortable, this soon proved unfounded, no cups, small eggcup sized glasses, fridge that should have been taken to the tip and a george formeman type grill which barely heated up and even though it did work it was useless. The beds were hard but that was ok for us, we nicked a couple of sheets from the courtesy room as all we had in the new room was yes a scratchy single sheet. To be fair the pool was very nich although grubby and the music was not too loud, food at the pool is ok but at £30 for two english breakfasts I thought it was a bit steep, we ate at the pool the first night and that was £80 for two meals including one drink, meatballs and fish which was expensive but nice, we didnt eat there after that and relied more on self catering, just too expensive for us. The cleaners came every other day and to be honest didnt do a very good job, the girls were nice enough but were not thorough, unfortunately you cant flush paper and have to use a chrome bin thing which was never cleaned and the shower was very mouldy and black gunge around the bottom. It seemed pointless to complain as everybody said the same thing, dont think it would have made any difference. The resort is ok but nothing to write home about but the taxis are cheap enough £6 return. We have been to Turkey lots of times but the prices were crazy everywhere dont know if this was just Kalkan but we definately wouldnt go back. All in all we had an ok time but that pretty much sums up the whole place ... just ok Read less

I read a lot of reviews after booking hotel and I was very worried from the negative reviews. We had a lovely holiday. Yes the self catering rooms are dated, but they are spacious, clean, beds are comfy and no problems with hot water. The pool facilities are excellent, lunch food menu fabulous, good size portions and delicious. Staff are so friendly. Plus they provide towels for your sunbeds, so one less thing to pack. I did read this before we went and took ours anyway, as I didn’t believe they offered this. Should have believed what I read. Didn’t bother us but WiFi is only possible in reception and by the pool. The hill was the killer, but we walked into Kalkan every day and after 2 weeks I was quite pleased with how much I’d improved from day one, almost dying. Taxi is about £4-5. What I would say is Kalkan is much more expensive than previous years, the roof top restaurants charging ridiculous prices. The Doy Doy was our favourite place that looked over the harbour, reasonably priced, excellent food and great staff. To anyone going to Kalkan, have a great time, I’m jealous!

Nice clean 3 star hotel. Rooms cleaned daily, breakfast was good enough for a 3 star although there is no option for water or juice, tea and coffee only. Maybe the resort could add water or some juice to the breakfast, I think this would be a great additional option that is needed. Not everyone drinks tea and coffee, especially children. Breakfast consisted of freshly cut melon and oranges, copd salami or processed packet chicken thin slices, boiled eggs or scrambled eggs, toast, fresh cut Turkish bread, olives, fresh tomatoes and cucumber, cereal, yogurt, various jams/marmalades, chocolate spread, good enough for a 3 star. Not all staff understood English well although some spoke it very well, especially the manager who spoke several languages fluently and was very hospitable and friendly. Rooms were clean and had a hair dryer and iron etc. Usual comp toiletries in the bathroom. Balcony with table and chairs. Bedding was not as comfy as one may expect, cheap itchy scratchy sheets and pillow cases and a thin cotton throw that just about fit the bed, making it difficult for those sharing a double bed. Lovely big pool with plenty of sun loungers, towels provided daily by the pool. Reception area welcoming with various sofas and chairs with great air con to cool down when hot. All rooms had air con but it was incredibly noisy making it difficult to sleep. Toilet roll holder fell off the wall and sink had no plug so difficult to wash any items of clothing without a plug or plastic bowl. There are signs in the room saying no food or drinks allowed from outside and any found will be taken and returned at the end of your stay. I found this really offputting as a guest booked for breakfast only. There is a minibar in the room but again expensive compared to buying at local shops. The resort is a ten minute steep walk to the local shops and town, full of restaurants and shops as well as a harbour. A great place to mooch of an evening or to book a boat trip. We used both SeaBella at £35 a day each including lunch and also the posh Falcon boat at £55 a day inc lunch. Kalkan is very expensive I found. Meals around £20 each whilst 40 Lira to the £. We found cheaper options such as the Etiler ACE Fastfood by the mini market. A huge chicken wrap with chips was 210 Lira which was cheapest we found. If you shop around you can find some cheaper options but restaurants are very expensive. Lots of mini markers etc to buy items for self catering etc. It was our first time to Kalkan and even a local told us the prices in Kalkan were tenfold compared to many other parts of Turkey. This did make the holiday more expensive than exiected and we did have to find cheaper options to eat as it would have been around £80 for three without alcoholic drink or starters etc. That’s just one meal so it would have worked out very expensive had we not found the cheaper places offering ‘street foods’ etc such as the wraps which I highly recommend. The Ockbasis were another option

Staying in the apartments, spacious, clean, huge fridge.Swimming pool is amazing, cannot fault the pool/,restaurant staff. Stunning views over the bay. Safe is £30 a week!! Free air-conditioning, but only in the bedroom. Very hilly, don't bother bringing high heels girls, every where in Kalkan is on a hill

This was a return visit for us which is in itself unusual but we had enjoyed our previous stay and felt happy to revisit. However, there is a lot to be said for not going back things are never the same. We arrived early hours as is the norm with Turkey and the evening reception was efficient. However, if you are not young or fit don't expect help with your luggage and there is no lift. Fortunately we only had 2 flights of stairs to navigate. The rooms are basic but clean and functional. We had booked B&B whereas previously we had been room only. The breakfast is abysmal. The quality and choice is basic and repetitive and if you want anything, including water and fruit juice or anything beyond the offer, be prepared to be charged. Yes, even for water! In recent times, we have never been to Turkey and not had the option of some form of fresh eggs at a minimum. The real confusing thing here is that if you BUY food during the day it is actually really good. Therefore why would you not showcase your offer at breakfast! The staff lack personality and offer no real guest interaction (other than to ask for your money). Drinks are OK but overpriced (but that seems to apply generally to Kalkan). We have been visiting Turkey for 27 years and have never experience such a lack in generosity of spirit. The result, we spent more time away from the hotel than in it. The loud awful music round the pool was a definite negative for us. Thumbs up to the hard working cleaning ladies they do a wonderful job. We will certainly not be returning.

We had an apartment on the first floor. Yes it was dated but it was clean, the. Shower was great and the air con even better. The pool, bar and restaurant were delightful as were the staff. There was a lovely friendly vibe amongst guests. For what we paid (booked with TUI) we can not complain. We will certainly use this hotel when we return to Kalkan.

Just back from a fantastic week long holiday and we loved it all. We were in the hotel side and were pleasantly surprised that the fridge and air- con were free of charge( we were on b&b basis). The room itself was very clean and the shower was very good and no shortage of hot water. The balcony was also a good size, with a table and 2 chairs. The breakfast is a traditional Turkish breakfast and was more than adequate to fill up in the morning, with a buffet style and the staff would bring the tea and coffee. Also there were free pool towels for the guests to use on sunbeds which was a really nice touch. The food that we bought at lunchtime/ dinner was fab ....resulting in us eating here everyday before heading out for a wander. The sunbeds were really comfy and umbrellas were of a good quality and much needed as there was a heatwave and many guests needed the shade. Views are spectacular and the staff are Excellent. Well done Samira Resort.....you have totally nailed this and we will definitely return Thank you

We have stayed in this hotel for 4 days and everything has been good however there are a few things we need to mention, we tried to look for a manager but the staff had told us they weren’t in and we found another guy who said he was in charge but was in a meeting, I would like to make a formal complaint about a member of staff who works in samira resort who goes by the name nick (real name), I would want to start off by saying we had arrived on Monday at around 2am, we went to sit near the pool and he had came to sit right by us very closely and uninvited and asked if we had boyfriends and started to make kissing gestures he was also making inappropriate comments such as we are very beautiful and if we wanted to go to the top of the terrance and have a look we also felt really uncomfortable as he seemed drunk and we could smell alot of alcohol off him this made us uncomfortable so we had to go back to our room. The next morning we had come down for breakfast we had paid for all inclusive including breakfast so he offered us if we wanted any drinks and we had asked for orange juice he failed to mention that it would be an additional charge.. he didn’t ask us to sign a bill or anything so we wasn’t aware of this… so we were under the impression that it was included in the breakfast that we had paid for, he came to us on Wednesday morning asking us to sign a bill for the orange juice which we declined before breakfast was served and then whilst we was eating breakfast he came again in close proximity asked us to sign again in a rude manner and we had said to him that we will not sign as we wasn’t aware and no one told us… the same morning we had order some drinks and had received a bill which we had signed as we was made aware there was charges for those drinks and then he had arrived again in close proximity asking to sign the bill for the 3rd time and which point he was very abrupt and aggressive and said you need to sign this bill at this point he had raised his voice demanding to sign it saying it was our fault and that he tells all his customers he also called us a liar… if this was true then why didn’t he give us the bill at breakfast when we had ordered the orange juices… also we would have been more than happy to pay if we were made aware before we ordered. This ordeal has really let the hotel down as we felt upset and frustrated. We have come on holiday after suffering from a close bereavement. We have come to Your hotel to seek peace and comfort. However, this man has made us feel Uneasy and uncomfortable. We felt unsafe and apprehensive being alone around the hotel because of how he would Approach women and his flirty behaviour. This behaviour is unacceptable, disgusting and has impacted our experience. We do not come on holiday to be treated how we have done from your member of staff. We do not tolerate men who raise their voice and be called a liar on holiday. This has really changed our perception on the hotel at whole and has left
