Hotel Kalenborner Höhe

The ***Hotel/Restaurant Kalenborner Höhe, which probably dates back to the 18th century, has obviously been rebuilt and modernized several times over the decades. The energetic, industrious and, above all, very attentive hotel and restaurant owner couple have now built a large, new, really beautiful guest terrace, protected from too much sun and rain by a tent roof, with comfortable, high-quality and upholstered chairs and tables, which has been well received by guests. The owners have also created a large, modern children's playground in front of the terrace, especially for the youngest of their guests, and the hotel rooms are also apparently being gradually renovated, refurbished and refurnished. The host's commitment and initiative to constantly improve, modernize and upgrade something cannot be denied: there are now large salt and pepper mills on the restaurant tables, a Dyson air purifier improves the air inside, a small Bose system provides sound in the room and modern furnishings make the rooms friendly. - I stayed in the double room number 24 on the second floor, which is around 25 square meters in size. The room, which has been largely modernized, offers a new large double bed with a comfortable mattress, a modern armchair, a small table and a small desk in an attractive cube shape, two matching stools on felt gliders, a place to put your suitcase and a closet that is perhaps a little too small for two people with those hook-and-eye hangers that are so annoying for me and are always difficult to take out and put back in. "Stupid fiddling," I always think! Otherwise, the room has a modern flat screen with Sky TV access, a tea/coffee kettle (but unfortunately no tea or coffee!) and two glasses (but unfortunately no free mineral water)! What I particularly liked: - Hospitality/flexibility: The hosts are really very personable, friendly, flexible and helpful when it comes to getting there, a late arrival or special requests or just a quick friendly chat! - Accessibility / contact: The telephone dialogue and also the email contact before and during my stay were smooth and very customer-oriented. The response time was way above average! - Breakfast (times): The hotel owners are also very flexible with breakfast times. You can't complain about the richness of the breakfast. It actually offers everything a business guest needs. At the weekend there is a late-riser breakfast buffet, which many out-of-town guests also come to. - Dining options outside of restaurant opening hours: There is no longer a minibar in the room, but there is a large refrigerator next to the hotel reception.
