Cairo Pyramids Hotel

Convenient place to stay in Giza for business and tourism.

I can’t say much about the rooms, as we spent just one night. They definitely need some renovation but I saw that the hotel has started it. The area is nice, food was ok. I want to express my gratitude to the host of the Shisha bar (I think his name was Terik). With his professional attitude and politeness he really makes the difference and is an example to the whole staff. Thanks Terik for the nice hospitality in the bar and the overall great service in the hotel.

This review is written in retrospect, this was to allow the hotel to respond to issues we had during the stay. We stayed 3-6th February 2025. 3 night stay to visit pyramids and museums. Family group staying in 3 rooms. We arrived mid evening it was dark. The accommodation was in bungalow rooms. The standard was poor, old, worn, dirty and not very secure. Patio door in room 911 secured with a door chain as lock broken. No safe in the rooms. I went to reception to try and get moved to another hotel but there was nothing available at The Steigenberger Hotel next door. As we had drivers and guides picking us up each day and airport transfer booked we felt it was not tenable to move to another hotel out of the area. We enquired about a safe at reception, a man carried a safe to our room about 20 mins later. Not ideal. We needed to eat and the pool bar was closed. We booked a restaurant 10 minutes away. Hotel taxi tried to charge us $40 after initially being quoted $25 by the reception desk, there is no price list. He then went on to say he could do it for $30. We declined and ordered an Uber which cost $1. I will let you draw your own conclusions. We had no issues using Ubers during our stay. The next morning in the light we could see the extent of the poor condition of the rooms and the building work being carried out within the gardens and walk ways. The rooms in the area behind us were empty and being refurbished, it was a mess. On a positive note breakfast was in The Steigenberger Hotel, it was a lovely room, the food and the staff were great. We were out sightseeing from early until late. We went out to restaurants in the evenings which we booked in advance, using Ubers for transportation. On the last day as we checked out, Apple AirPods were left on the bed in the room for approximately 15 mins. We went back for them but they were gone. The room was being made up when we went back, we reported theft to reception who would look into it. We left for the airport an hour later without any resolution. I emailed Steigenberger head office to report this (it took them 7 days to respond). When we landed in London we began tracking the AirPods via Find my phone app, they were in various residential locations in Giza, returning to the hotel on two separate days before eventually being sold 10 days later in central Cairo. We sent screen shots of the locations in real-time to the hotel via email and WhatsApp. The hotel has completed their investigations and can find no one responsible. I would not recommend this hotel.

We had a great time, very friendly staff from the moment we arrived, we especially liked the bellman Amr, who helped us with any little thing. The location is wonderful, but you need transportation everywhere, which is easily arranged at the reception. We recommend the driver Sharif, besides being a safe driver, he is also fun and a good guide.

We stayed in this hotel with group of friends and families during our recent visit to Cairo on vacation. Nice location considering Pyramid visit, it is quite nearby. And this is opposite to the New Museum of Cairo, which could be a huge advantage for visiting. Pls note this is quite far away from Cairo main city, so if your focus is Cairo visit, this may not be good location to stay. For us it worked out good as we intend to visit Pyramid and Museum during the stay. Nice rooms, bit old, but we liked the same. Spread out over a big area, very good garden area and every room has a sit out area which is quite nice and relaxing. Breakfast spread is very good, if you do book the room, pls book with breakfast, else the breakfast cost is 25 USD, which is bit overpriced in my view. There are 2 restaurants, one we did not like so much. Other one is good, but bit costly. Nearby options of food is quite less. There is a mini supermarket nearby (walking distance), one can buy snacks, water etc in reasonable price. Cleaning services can be improved for sure, normally you may need to request few times to get attention. We did not find front desk very helpful, I think they do lack experience handling foreign nationals. Should be looked into. Hotel does have an ATM for money exchange in good rate, which is definitely an added advantage. Overall good experience. Should I stay again, I am not sure...
