It's hard to think of anything negative to review about Marriott's Maui Ocean Club. For one, location is prime! We really enjoy the Kaanapali beach area. It is lined with all these mid to upper range hotels that are all accessible via a beach walk. It is a short distance to Whalers Village where you can do some shopping including an ABC Store where you can get almost everything. Access to a variety of restaurants is just a short walk away. It is also very close to the Hyatt if you were wanting to see the famed Drums of the Pacific luau. As soon as you step out of your room, the beautiful Kaanapali beach is right there when you can lounge, soak up the sun, and watch amazing sunsets. I really can't think of a better area to stay that in Kaanapali. Sure it can get somewhat busy in the beach path, but you hardly notice it as your enjoying the sights and views along the path. I'm an avid runner, and running along the beach path and neighboring roads was just inspiring and motivating. Quick tip: run early in the morning to avoid the crowds. As for amenities on the resort, they had a giant scrabble set, a chess board, and ping-pong table to name a few. We didn't get to check out any of the classes such as bracelet making hula dancing, but I assume that this was common at these hotels. We did take advantage of the free shaved ice one afternoon at the pool area on one of our pool and beach days. To be fair, I'm sure the resort had tons of other activities but our time was short in Maui and spent most of it sightseeing around Hana and visiting Haleakala. Parking wise, we booked the resort through Airbnb so I'm not sure if that was included as part of owning the vacation club, but parking was right next door in the garage and accessible via the hotel. Before booking, we were a bit concerned with the area since it was in close proximity to Lahaina were the unfortunate fire happened, but we quickly learned that most of the hotels and establishment north of downtown Lahaina didn't experience any of that devastation. This was our second time staying on Kaanapali beach and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Oh and one final thing, the other nice thing about the resort or property is that after checking out of your room, you still had access to the pool and other amenities if you have an evening flight. They even offer well appointed changing areas after visiting the pool or the beach.
