10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! Especially if you have small children! Dangerous balconies with rods not connected, my 3 small children could’ve fallen off 5 stories. Not 1, but TWO large diesel generators running outside our balcony 24/7. Construction in the entire tower. Hotel never forewarned us of any construction going on prior to making reservations. This is negligence on behalf of the hotel to not have the balcony property secured. Spend your money elsewhere.

Staying at #marriottoceanclubmaui and they put us in a construction site. There are jackhammer, drilling and sawing all day from 7am to about 6pm. We are all 4 handicap with disability and they put us the furthest from the elevator. Checked into our room and there were dirty towels in our room. Asked for trash bags as there were none under the sink or can when I changed trash and they brought 3 more trash cans. The fridge didn’t work, all our cold food went bad. Sister slipped in the tub and they said go buy a mat at Walmart. They just don’t care. #Marriott You should be ashamed. #marriottvacationclub #marriottvacationsworldwide #marriottbonvoy

It's hard to think of anything negative to review about Marriott's Maui Ocean Club. For one, location is prime! We really enjoy the Kaanapali beach area. It is lined with all these mid to upper range hotels that are all accessible via a beach walk. It is a short distance to Whalers Village where you can do some shopping including an ABC Store where you can get almost everything. Access to a variety of restaurants is just a short walk away. It is also very close to the Hyatt if you were wanting to see the famed Drums of the Pacific luau. As soon as you step out of your room, the beautiful Kaanapali beach is right there when you can lounge, soak up the sun, and watch amazing sunsets. I really can't think of a better area to stay that in Kaanapali. Sure it can get somewhat busy in the beach path, but you hardly notice it as your enjoying the sights and views along the path. I'm an avid runner, and running along the beach path and neighboring roads was just inspiring and motivating. Quick tip: run early in the morning to avoid the crowds. As for amenities on the resort, they had a giant scrabble set, a chess board, and ping-pong table to name a few. We didn't get to check out any of the classes such as bracelet making hula dancing, but I assume that this was common at these hotels. We did take advantage of the free shaved ice one afternoon at the pool area on one of our pool and beach days. To be fair, I'm sure the resort had tons of other activities but our time was short in Maui and spent most of it sightseeing around Hana and visiting Haleakala. Parking wise, we booked the resort through Airbnb so I'm not sure if that was included as part of owning the vacation club, but parking was right next door in the garage and accessible via the hotel. Before booking, we were a bit concerned with the area since it was in close proximity to Lahaina were the unfortunate fire happened, but we quickly learned that most of the hotels and establishment north of downtown Lahaina didn't experience any of that devastation. This was our second time staying on Kaanapali beach and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Oh and one final thing, the other nice thing about the resort or property is that after checking out of your room, you still had access to the pool and other amenities if you have an evening flight. They even offer well appointed changing areas after visiting the pool or the beach.

The Marriott ocean club was fantastic. I honestly was a bit skeptical because of the construction going on but honestly who goes to Maui to spend time in the room. Our party of 4 had a 2 suite villa in the lanai tower. The property is absolutely fantastic. This was our second time to Maui and this was the best one yet. Longhis on property deserves a much higher rating than it gets. Pools were clean and easy to get a spot. They were also quiet enough to take an afternoon snooze or just relax. The entire property was fantastic. If I could add anything I wish there was more of a breakfast option as it’s somewhat limited.

The service is mediocre and currently we are here right now and there are loud explosions and drilling from the early morning to the evening without a break taking a nap that’s not gonna happen for you or your kids. they are clearly remodeling. I’m sure they clearly explain before people come here however, this is beyond light construction….we have a three bedroom and it’s so crusty and old. The kitchen is a joke. Just a microwave and Dw small fridge no disposal even. Feels so old like no matter how good they try to clean it it is just rusty and gross. We asked to change rooms to one not sandwiched by explosions in front and back. They said no.

I really hate giving the Maui Marriott Ocean Club a bad review since I have been staying here the past four years. Last year we were there for the Lahaina fire and we returned to this resort this past April and again in July. But this will be my last trip here. Upon arrival we were greeted by a stale front desk crew. Not even close to the welcome we got a day earlier at the Sheraton Maui. Those workers were pleasant and accommodating. It didn't seem like the resort was overly crowded but on the first morning I noticed people hurrying with towels as soon as it got light to claim their lounge chairs around the various pools.I told my wife I had better go get a chair which I did. I went back to my room and ate breakfast and returned to my chair. I could hear people around me talking about being owners there and they seemed to be looking at me like I had their spot. Come on owners, you own a week or two there. It's not like you own at the Alii or Whaler down the beach. I am not an Ocean Club Owner as I prefer to book my rooms there through Redweek. The next morning I observed a girl sleeping on a lounge chair at daybreak reserving 8 chairs next to her. I went to get the chairs I had the previous day and noticed they were occupied already at 6am by 6 people so I grabbed two chairs nearby and went back and grabbed a quick bowl of cereal in the room. I returned to my chair a half hour later and noticed two ladies in my chairs. I inquired as to where my belongings were. They acted like they didn't know and said they are owners and sit here all the time. A gentleman there from the previous day said security removed everything. I was liviid. I complained to the manager about the girl sleeping reserving chairs and nothing was done to her. I showed him pictures of several other chairs with just towels on them for over two hours unoccupied. He called security who met me and stated the rules are you can't leave your chairs unoccupied before 6 am however after 7 am you can leave them for an hour. I soon learned the game being played after watching everyone the rest of the week is to station someone at your spot and then have relief come if you need a break to stay with your stuff. As long as someone sits there nothing is done no matter how many chairs you put towels on. What kind of vacation is that? These people grab seats at day break and stay there all day so as to guarantee their spot. Not my idea of relaxing. It's obvious that the same families take the same weeks of vacation and know each other and if you aren't part of the club you get security called on you. Also we had power cut off twice to our building overnight in the week we were there causing the room to heat up disrupting our sleep. No compensation from Marriott for the inconvenience. I will say kudos though to John at the Cabana rentals, Ben and Jose with pool services. They are great workers. Will be staying elsewhere in April. Goodbye Marriott. You lost me.

I wanted to give a better rating because there are so many wonderful things about this resort, but unfortunately a few experiences really put a damper on it. Pros- beautiful location, great walking path along the beach (go early for joggers) that leads to fantastic dining and shopping at whalers village, the grounds are spotless and clean and out of your room you would never know there is major construction, concierge is fantastic and helpful setting up our excursions, the pool and restaurant staff were amazing. Cons- I will preface this with they 100% tell you up front there is construction which is why we booked so many activities and luckily we had great weather to stay out of the room during the day which is what you want in Hawaii anyways, however they did NOT disclose there were mandatory power outages in the middle of the night for several hours. We lost AC and my mother was unable to use her cpap machine. The front desk was able to move her for just one night, but why in the world would you even put people in a room like that. We had generations running outside our room 24/7 which just made for awful sleeping as well which isn’t what you want on vacation. Additionally the woman at the welcome center was so rude and condescending to us when we went to get our excursions tickets that we booked. We were there with my mother who has been an owner for over 20 years and she said that all the rooms outside construction were reserved for owners and if we wanted better rooms then we need to do a presentation and buy. When I told her we are owners she argued with us. We typically do presentations to see if anything has changed and updates to the MVC, but we just wanted to enjoy family time and not be stuck inside for an hour or two and skip the presentation this time around. We have always had wonderful experiences at the many MVC properties and treated great as owners but we felt as thought we were cast aside. So if you are not an owner I would really advise to stay away because you most certainly be in an awful room. We absolutely love Maui and maybe would come back someday but we have seriously questioned our loyalty to MVC.

My wife snd small child stayed here and the customer service was awful. The property is nice but it was under construction. However, since my son is neurodivergent and very sensitive to loud noises, we specifically made a request in advance to stay at the tower that was not under construction. The hotel assured us they would place us in the quiet tower not undergoing renovations. We confirmed this at check in, and lo and behold, they put us in a room right next to the construction. It’s truly awful and doesn’t feel like a vacation at all. When we pointed out the over sight, the front desk didn’t care to accommodate us in the slightest. They didn’t try to give us any type of resort credit, comp a meal or anything. This is despite the fact that we are gold elite members AND owners. The manager simply told us to basically deal with it despite our son’s special needs. I don’t recommend staying here.

Without notice at booking or arrival, they decide to have a mandatory power shutdown for the "most" of the hotel midway through our week here. I have a cpap that's needs electrical or I can't breathe at night. Nope sorry, we can't move you. So for the $7-900 a night, you get no power, no ac, no power for the refrigerator and in my case and the others with medical equipment, no sleep. They offered flashlights...went to front desk...nope we ran out. You can see across some of the rooms have lights, but no ac. They simply didn't care. In the video, in the total darkness is the pool with no safety lights.
