Waterliu Zhongsheng Inn

The hotel location is good snd our transport could drop us directly in front. We took a shared 6 seater van from Dali (ancient town North) for 90RMB. Door to door. You can see a Jeep filled with plants at their entrance. The garden and plants are beautiful. Upstairs had partial mountain views. Location is quiet. They have a lounge and eating area near the entrance. I think they also make food, if requested. That area looks nice and cosy. However, our room felt too cramped for 2 people. The bed was quite firm and the air conditioner did not work (fan only, but not cooling). There’s also a strange setup with the toilet: not having any kind of door or curtain for privacy to the main room. Basically it’s a straight view from the bed to the toilet. If you are alone, then it's okay. Large flat screen TV. It's nice that they also have hair conditioner (plus shampoo and shower gel). It would be nice to have a drinking water refill machine. The courtyard is nice with some comfortable chairs and lounges. The host was friendly and helped to carry our luggage upstairs.

Nice hotel near the south gate. They have a nice coffee machine for a good cappuccino. Big rooms, clean and comfy.

Shaxi old town itself is a true gem on its own, and this place is a gem in a gem. Hidden just outside of the Shaxi old town, it's proximity to the town square （寺登街）is a big plus. The landscape is super cozy, highly suitable for those who want to really have a good break from the hustle and bustle of city life, resting ones mind in an uninterrupted environment. Let's not forget the lady owner taking care of the place, who is so accommodating and helpful. And let's not forget the hot fresh milk provided every evening, which gives another level of warmness to the stay. Notes: if you are here on a Friday, you are of luck. The farmers market held weekly on Friday is just a few minutes walk away from this guesthouse too!
