Village Up & Stay Architecture:
The Village Up& Stay advocates the concept of green sustainable ecological environmental protection. The building adopts the traditional method of ramming earth and solid wood. We furnish the building with as little formaldehyde, paint, and other quick-acting materials as possible. The design of the large two-way windows ensures natural ventilation in the room. There is a free bicycle(15 minutes) and shuttle bus (any time before 23:30 ) round-trip service if you want to check out the old town. It’s a 30-minute walk to the old town.
Meals: The B&B provides customized Chinese and Western breakfasts. We have homemade bread and jam. For our guests, there is also afternoon high tea!

The first experience: Shaxi Laomaadian. I have been involved with this guest house from its beginning to the end. (10 years) It’s the first guest house awarded by Dali municipality as a four-star outstanding guest house. It’s ranked in the first three favored guest houses in Shaxi on TripAdvisor. It’s the first guest house in Shaxi which has a separate toilet and bathroom. The second experience: From 2017 to 2023, my wife and I ran our own guest house Shaxi Aoding Courtyard, which got the highest rating in the Shaxi area on Booking.com. Shaxi Aoding Courtyard was fortunate to be included in the "Oriental Museum Magazine Directory" in France at that time.

We enjoyed a fantastic stay at this guesthouse with the owner Da Hua, who took us on tours of Shaxi's Friday farmer's market, the Shaxi Ancient Town, and the nearby mountain and historical monastety with many wild monkeys running around (石宝山）. The owner's family is very lovely, playing with our toddler and cooking delicious, fairly priced lunches and dinners (the rice noodles especially!). The guest house is located in a quiet farming village a short distance away from Shaxi itself, and the guesthouse can take care of transportation to and from Shaxi, including to watch the sunrise mist over the river. The guesthouse is very new (finished in 2024) and has very comfortable rooms and a lovely library and dining room. Stargazing at night is perfect. The owner can also take care of transportation to and from Dali or Lijiang. Overall, the owner speaks very good English, is used to both foreign and Chinese guests, and is an expert on many areas in Yunnan, providing a great reference to a driver I would use in Lijiang, and I would recommend this place highly for two nights for anyone visiting Shaxi!

This is my first time writing a review because I am so grateful to the owner of this hotel!
This hotel is located 20-30 minutes walk from the old town, which makes your stay comfortable and quiet from the noise. The hotel provides bicycles to get to the old town. But do not rush to worry. Even though we came here by rented car, due to the holidays, the traffic was too difficult and Mr. Dahua kindly drove us there and picked us up back. Honestly, I have rarely met such kindness. You can also walk around this village to feel the local way of life. Mr. Dahua did everything to make our stay amazing. His wife cooks incredibly delicious food. We could not even think that we could eat anywhere else. I assure you, from the first seconds of your stay here, you will feel like a part of this wonderful family. This hotel is not just a business - this hotel is part of this family and every corner of it is imbued with love for this place. Mr. Dahua also speaks English and can advise and organize local sightseeing tours for you. We cannot express how grateful we are to this family! I highly recommend visiting this wonderful place.

This is my second time coming to Yunnan this year. Among the hotels I have stayed in these few times, this hotel is the one that surprised me the most. When I first entered, I saw a very special earthen wall. The boss explained that it was during the renovation. It was specially constructed using the traditional rammed earth construction method. I checked online and found out that this construction method is very time-consuming and no one is willing to build it anymore. Unexpectedly, I saw their bathroom equipment in a new hotel. It turns out that there are dry and wet separated rooms, and even teapots and cups have special sterilization cabinets. Each room has a small balcony, which is perfect for watching the sunset in the evening. If you are too lazy to go out at night, the hotel also has different types of dinners to choose from. I am a lazy person, so of course I am in the hotel. I ate, drank, and waited until I finished eating before I thought about it. 超出預期的住宿體驗！春節臨時起意來到沙溪，對住宿要求很高的我們一家，選了這件評分很高的民宿，真的超出預期。
設施：裝修很新，應是開業不久。但感受到處處用心，床上鵝絨被褥、枕頭，品質極佳、乾淨、好睡，店家還貼心地給了兩床被子，其實房間不冷，一床被子就夠了；衞浴都是科勒的產品；洗髮水的環保配方寫在玻璃鏡面上；冷熱水都很好；毛巾、拖鞋都是放在浴室裏專門配備的兩個消毒櫃裏，很意外也很讓人安心；房間裏還有取暖器，但我們沒用上。
衞生：非常乾淨！用過的毛巾第二天上午就會被換走，我們在餐廳吃飯時，注意到他們家的床上用品都是自己清洗、晾曬，餐具也是整齊地放在餐廳的消毒櫃裏，我隨口問了下老闆怎麼不送出去洗，老本説，這樣更乾淨、環保。很合我們心意。
環境：在安靜的村裡，我們房間有個小陽台，可以喝茶曬太陽，窗户能看到村後的石寶山，我們後來按老闆的建議去這個山徒步了，看到了很有歷史文物價值的石窟羣，很意外！騎車7-8分鐘可以去到村前的沙溪古鎮看晨霧，再折回來吃早餐，店家提供的自行車，都是山地車，很好騎。老闆用工藝改進過的本地夯土牆和全實木結合，室內感覺很有質感。

I’m Dahua, Bai nationality, Shaxi local. I have the inn and guest house operating experience since 2007 (the earliest inn business in Shaxi) to the present day!
The first experience: Shaxi Laomaadian. I have been involved with this guest house from its beginning to the end. (10 years) It’s the first guest house awarded by Dali municipality as a four-star outstanding guest house. It’s ranked in the first three favored guest houses in Shaxi on TripAdvisor. It’s the first guest house in Shaxi which has a separate toilet and bathroom. The second experience: From 2017 to 2023, my wife and I ran our own guest house Shaxi Aoding Courtyard, which got the highest rating in the Shaxi area on Booking.com. Shaxi Aoding Courtyard was fortunate to be included in the "Oriental Museum Magazine Directory" in France at that time.
Guiding experience: I have more than ten years of outdoor and travel guide experience, always insisting on and deepening the outdoor, hiking, camping, local, and natural travel methods.
