(10 years) It’s the first guest house awarded by Dali municipality as a four-star outstanding guest house. It’s ranked in the first three favored guest houses in Shaxi on TripAdvisor. It’s the first guest house in Shaxi which has a separate toilet and bathroom. The second experience: From 2017 to 2023, my wife and I ran our own guest house Shaxi Aoding Courtyard, which got the highest rating in the Shaxi area on Booking.com. Shaxi Aoding Courtyard was fortunate to be included in the "Oriental Museum Magazine Directory" in France at that time.

We enjoyed a fantastic stay at this guesthouse with the owner Da Hua, who took us on tours of Shaxi's Friday farmer's market, the Shaxi Ancient Town, and the nearby mountain and historical monastety with many wild monkeys running around (石宝山）. The owner's family is very lovely, playing with our toddler and cooking delicious, fairly priced lunches and dinners (the rice noodles especially!). The guest house is located in a quiet farming village a short distance away from Shaxi itself, and the guesthouse can take care of transportation to and from Shaxi, including to watch the sunrise mist over the river. The guesthouse is very new (finished in 2024) and has very comfortable rooms and a lovely library and dining room. Stargazing at night is perfect. The owner can also take care of transportation to and from Dali or Lijiang. Overall, the owner speaks very good English, is used to both foreign and Chinese guests, and is an expert on many areas in Yunnan, providing a great reference to a driver I would use in Lijiang, and I would recommend this place highly for two nights for anyone visiting Shaxi!

This is my first time writing a review because I am so grateful to the owner of this hotel!
This hotel is located 20-30 minutes walk from the old town, which makes your stay comfortable and quiet from the noise. The hotel provides bicycles to get to the old town. But do not rush to worry. Even though we came here by rented car, due to the holidays, the traffic was too difficult and Mr. Dahua kindly drove us there and picked us up back. Honestly, I have rarely met such kindness. You can also walk around this village to feel the local way of life. Mr. Dahua did everything to make our stay amazing. His wife cooks incredibly delicious food. We could not even think that we could eat anywhere else. I assure you, from the first seconds of your stay here, you will feel like a part of this wonderful family. This hotel is not just a business - this hotel is part of this family and every corner of it is imbued with love for this place. Mr. Dahua also speaks English and can advise and organize local sightseeing tours for you. We cannot express how grateful we are to this family! I highly recommend visiting this wonderful place.

The accommodation experience exceeded expectations! We came to Shaxi on a whim during the Spring Festival. Our family had high requirements for accommodation, so we chose this highly rated B&B, which really exceeded our expectations.
Facilities: The decoration is very new, it should have been opened not long ago. But I felt that every detail was thoughtfully provided. The goose down bedding and pillows on the bed were of excellent quality, clean and comfortable to sleep in. The store also thoughtfully gave us two quilts, although the room was not cold and one quilt was enough. The bathroom products were all Kohler products. The environmentally friendly formula of the shampoo was written on the glass mirror. The hot and cold water were both good. The towels and slippers were placed in two specially equipped disinfection cabinets in the bathroom, which was unexpected and reassuring. There was also a heater in the room, but we didn't use it.
Hygiene: Very clean! The used towels will be replaced the next morning. When we were eating in the restaurant, I noticed that their bedding was washed and dried by themselves, and the tableware was neatly placed in the restaurant's disinfection cabinet. As for lunch and dinner, our kitchen makes fresh and healthy home-cooked dishes(Chinese Style). We also make delicious Western-style dishes.
Room views and public areas: Each room has natural sceneries: distant mountains, fields, and villages. You can find a study room, fireplace, restaurant, courtyard, and free parking space in the public area.
Travel, services, and others: Free round-trip services within the Shaxi area by bicycle and shuttle bus. We have private guides available for outdoor, hiking, camping, and local natural travel experience. This means we are going to show you the off-the-beaten path in Shaxi and the whole Yunnan province.

I’m Dahua, Bai nationality, Shaxi local. I have the inn and guest house operating experience since 2007 (the earliest inn business in Shaxi) to the present day!
The first experience: Shaxi Laomaadian. I have been involved with this guest house from its beginning to the end. (10 years) It’s the first guest house awarded by Dali municipality as a four-star outstanding guest house. It’s ranked in the first three favored guest houses in Shaxi on TripAdvisor. It’s the first guest house in Shaxi which has a separate toilet and bathroom. The second experience: From 2017 to 2023, my wife and I ran our own guest house Shaxi Aoding Courtyard, which got the highest rating in the Shaxi area on Booking.com. Shaxi Aoding Courtyard was fortunate to be included in the "Oriental Museum Magazine Directory" in France at that time.
Guiding experience: I have more than ten years of outdoor and travel guide experience, always insisting on and deepening the outdoor, hiking, camping, local, and natural travel methods.
