Jeju Donggung Motel

The owner is an uncle. He cleans the rooms himself. They are very clean. It feels like a small room in my own home. It's really nice. The owner is very friendly. He didn't have any prejudice against me because I am a foreigner. I walked for a long time to the hotel. I was tired and hungry. The first thing the owner asked was whether I had eaten. Then he treated me to a meal.

I am a VIP on Agoda and other travel platforms, and I stay in hotels for more than 100 days a year. I take 100-200 flights a year. This is the first time in 25 years of backpacking that I have ever smelled bad. It wasn't this dirty when I stayed in a 3,000 won accommodation in China 20 years ago. The bedding was dirty, and I threw away the dead bugs in the toilet. The smell is worse than a street trash can. It was so bad that I ventilated for more than 30 minutes, but there was no difference. I tried to contact the counter, but there was no contact information left. I contacted Trip.com, but they said there was nothing they could do. This is the first time I've made a complaint because it was dirty in my 20-plus trips around the world. I asked someone on the first floor, and they said it was fine, so I don't know if it's just my room that's the problem. It really smells worse than the Dongmun Market trash can. In the end, I quickly found another hotel and stayed there, but at this rate, even China and Southeast Asia can't compete with it. These days, even in China, if you don't change your bedding every day, you'll get a complaint. I don't think I'll go to Jeju Island.

Donggung Motel is located in a good location, not too far from the airport. The facilities are also clean for the price. Free ramen is provided for breakfast.

The location and hygiene are clean for the price, but the facilities are average because it is an old building. Personally, it was good to go to Dongmun Market and just sleep.
