Its a building site . Huge ammount to do internally and externally. No plan for large car park for staff and guests. No sign of Rene Egli base all removed . Large block being brought back into service after decades . Its a GREAT LOCATION. Underexploited for decades will Melia finally get it right this time ?

I am writing this currently while staying at the hotel and as a worried and upset parent of a young baby, I'd like to let other parents be informed. There are NO baby facilities in the hotel, in particular no microwaves or sterilising machines to rent in the whole hotel. Therefore we can not sterilise the baby's bottles, which is a basic necessity for a 'family hotel'. We were told by customer experience that every restaurant had a microwave, spent an hour going to every restaurant, to then go back to customer experience where they realised that they didn't have any. Eventually upon speaking to the manager 'Guilla' a few days in, her response was Melia can 'boil it in a pot for you, what do expect me to do personally', this is not a personal attack but the answer would have been Melia go and invest in a microwave for guests to use, instead of trusting somebody is sterilising it correctly. Other parents of babies similar age have also mentioned this worry to us. The attitude towards me was very upsetting. Babies drink a bottle 4 to 5 times a day. There are also no baby bowl options on any menu in any of the restaurants, please note. Today, at the pool all our belongings were removed from our sunbed while we went for a bite to eat at the 'Shack' pool bar and restaurant. It is not our fault that the restaurant took 30mins to serve out our food. They have a policy that you can't reserve beds without using them within 10/15mins, how do you bring your baby to eat in 10/15mins, while holding a sunbed that has an umbrella and shelter for a young baby? What made the incident even worse was that they only cleared our bed and the bed beside us, and nobody else around the pool! And the managers response when asked for an apology was 'that it wasn't her that moved the items.....' I hope other parents coming to this hotel have a nicer experience compared to us and that this can give you some help while preparing for your holiday here. I haven't even gone into all the other issues we have in the hotel, other then it takes a long waiting time to get drinks and food, so be prepared for that, especially with a baby.

We visited the Melia, Costa Calma, Fuerteventura. We are a family of 4. When we arrived we were so impressed by the hotel, it was beautiful and the sea views were incredible. Hotel staff were very friendly and our room was lovely. We had a sea view and waking up in the mornings and looking out on the beautiful beach and mountains was beautiful and so picturesque. Our room was clean and tidy and the cleaners did an excellent job each day. Where do I start with the food? The food was absolutely stunning. THE BEST! High quality with so many different options. Delicious. Beautiful big swimming pool, my only complaint there was a few broken tiles in the swimming pool which was extremely dangerous, we found out as my Son's had cut their feet, we solved it by buying them pool shoes but I was still worried incase they were fo catch their leg etc so unfortunately we didn't get to use that pool but there was another smaller square pool we used. Direct access to the beach, the beach was just out of this world. Absolutely beautiful. The hotels car hire was brilliant, we managed to hire a car for two days and get out and explore the island. Perfect stay and would return for the food. As I said the only downside was the swimming pool, I did raise it with reception but nothing was said or done. Entertainment was okay, we watched a few shows and the bar is lovely serving cocktails, soft drinks etc All in all we had a lovely week.

Kind of sad experience... While hotel and resort staff are very helpful and eager to provide a pleasant experience, the management did not lift a finger when facing a serious problem. There were a couple of huge annoying cockroaches in the first 36 hrs of my stay and the only solution proposed by the “nice” lady manager of this 4 star hotel was to fumigate the room when I was there. Her explanation was that the cockroach flied in from outside; I found out that in fact, lower resort floors are full of these insects. The picture shows my second guest in 36 hrs, so in the end I cut my stay short and left.

Paradise is the only way to describe this place. We have been to Mexico twice and much prefer this hotel and place over it. We arrived after 11pm and we had a very pleasant check in with Juan! Due to us arriving after the all inclusive was over he advised there was food sitting for late arrivals in the gorriones restaurant for us to take. This just consists of cold meats, bread rolls, fruit and yogurt and glass bottles of water to take. You chose slots for breakfast and dinner and get a one hour slot, however this can be changed day by day to your preference. Before going seen so many mixed reviews of the food however I have to say food was outstanding. Food was full of variety and was cooked to a perfect standard, could not fault it at all. During lunch the main buffet and the pool bar was open so never stuck for choice. Waiters are absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. We always had the same ones often seen which were Miguel, Youssef, Alex and Luis and Jonathan in the bar. Pools are fantastic. They don’t be jam packed so plenty of room to swim, especially if you have young children who may be scared of the water. Sunloungers are taken up by people from the crack of dawn with towels just sitting, however there is still lots of free sun loungers scattered all around. Very spacious and you don’t feel cramped around others. We had 2 panoramic sea views rooms right next to each other (719 & 720) the view was absolutely out of this world (wish I was waking up to that view every morning 🫣😭) rooms were spacious and cleaned to an excellent standard everyday. Cleaning staff are super friendly and work very hard. We often spent our evenings after dinner down in the fun pub and absolutely loved it. When it opened they had a little activity for all the kids (animation staff are fantastic) and then around 9:30/10 they had the main entertainment with some fantastic acts!! We also spent a few nights in the Gabi bar which is the lobby bar which is very chill. During our stay there was roadworks taking place along the road into the hotel so there was no public transport (buses) however you could get a taxi which reception book for you and the ETA is 5 mins MAX. We often went into costa calma which was around 7-10 euro in a taxi. The beach is just WOW. Absolutely gorgeous and the scenery around it… absolute heaven on earth. Checkout is 12pm but they have a place you can leave your luggage as well as a scale to weigh it! You still have access to all facilities - pools, food etc. I have never been so upset to have to go home. I absolutely fell in love with this place and already am looking into to booking it next year. Thank you so much to all this staff !

The hotel room was really untidy and in poor condition. Our room was also clearly in one of the old areas of the hotel, far from everything, and I thought that for that price we paid you could even get a sea view, but our window was facing the hotel's parking lot. There was a hole in the sofa, there was a hole in the wall in the bathroom, and there was a lot of dust in the light fixture, which can already be a fire safety risk. These were also never cleaned. There were also holes in the curtains. The hotel restaurant staff was also really rude/improper. Especially one older lady here. There was no mention anywhere that the breakfast/dinner does not include e.g. soft drinks, but on the third day the waiter came to yell at us in the middle of the meal and demand payment for the drinks we drank. After a long conversation, we were able to discuss the matter with him and for the rest of the holiday we drank water at his command. Soft drinks were reportedly not included in the half-board, but there is no black and white about this, so we couldn't possibly have been aware. We didn't drink alcohol, because we knew that at least it wasn't part of the half-board. There were also always screaming children in the restaurant and the noise level was really high anyway. You were never allowed to eat in peace. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to couples, it’s really like a family hotel. The only good thing about our vacation was the wonderful views and the clean pool area. The water was turquoise and tall palm trees like from the Maldives.

We choose this hotel for its remote location for a quiet and relaxing week. The photos on Jet2 website present the hotel in a very favourable way. On arrival we were welcomed by very spacious and light reception area which made a good first impression. When we got to our room our opinion changed very quickly when it was obvious that there was a problem with the balcony door. There was a gap in the door frame that allowed the gale force wind to whistle through at high volume. There was no way to stop this continually loud noise. We returned to the reception area and explained the problem and we were offered an upgraded room at our expense. The new room was a lot nicer and had a great sea view. The main issues we had during our stay were the restaurant and the closure of the main bar. The dining experience was definitely dull. It felt like a staff canteen. The food was very unimaginative and sparse. The structured dining times were not managed at all and it was basically a free for all. The closed bar from the outside looked very spacious and well presented. Unfortunately, all the guest had to squeeze into the lobby bar for a pre or post dinner drink. There was very limited seating available and the quality of the drinks on the all-inclusive package were poor. However, the staff were great and coped well. The pool area was spacious, clean and nice. Improvements could be made in signposting as nobody knew where to go. On our visit the two out of three lifts were not operating and we along with everyone else had to use the stairs frequently … we were on the 9th floor. We took advantage of the spa facilities which were great. We felt that overall the hotel was a bit tired and lacking in atmosphere. We will would not book this hotel again.

Great hotel, yes a little dated but I'm sure that's why they're closing for refurbishment. Did this ruin our holiday? Absolutely not! Upon arrival we were welcomed at reception with a smile and they even took that little extra time to greet our 5 year old. She was delighted to be made to feel special so a massive thanks for that. There are 4 pools, the biggest one is the salt water pool. These were cold but it's march so I wasn't surprised. You're soon warm once you've taken the plunge. The food I thought was decent, plenty of choice and the kitchen staff work tirelessly to keep the choices available. If I was to have a moan (which I'm likely to do) it's the first week we were here. The entertainment was upstairs and outside, which was cold, however that's my own fault for only packing shorts and T shirts. The second week they reopened the fun bar downstairs and did the entertainment there which was much better. The staff are really friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Which considering the hours and pace they work is amazing. Would I stay again? Absolutely! Probably later in the year though so I don't get caught out again with my packing habits! Many thanks to all at Melia. Special mention to Diego who works behind the bar in the fun club. Really great with the kids and always smiling. Cheers.

Location perfect for a get away from it all holiday, grounds beautiful, staff friendly and very accommodating, hotel is a little tired in places but is being refurbished this year Our only criticism would be the food - there may be a good selection but every meal was cold, we were all inclusive and this was for us a major issue, we did not expect to come to a resort where we had to microwave every meal, it was extremely disappointing so much so we ended up going into Costa Calma (€11 each way) to eat dinner !!!
