Crazy Camel Hotel & Safari

This was my favorite experience in India on a 3 week trip across North and South India. And, the camel safari with Hussein was the best part! Jaimin, the owner of the hotel, arranged for a driver to meet me at the airport. When I arrived, I had chai and sat at their cafe and ate delicious paneer paratha while they prepared the safari. We visited the abandoned village of Kuldhara which was very mysterious and quiet (a rare experience in India!), a cactus garden, and an oasis before making our way to where the camel driver, Hussein would pick us up. Thereafter, with one other guest, I went on a camel safari out to a campsite with our host and guide Hussein. We rode the camels for a couple of hours into the desert, stopping at a local village absent of other tourists where Hussein had some friends and we could explore. He cooked us a delicious dinner over the campfire before we slept overnight under the stars. You could see the Milky Way and hundreds of stars. It was beautiful. Hussein was an excellent guide. He was kind and friendly, good with the animals, spoke English well, despite little formal education, was always happy to take pictures for us, and let us go at our own pace. He and his family are indigenous to this area so he knew his way around and about the land and its people very well. He was eager to answer questions and to chat with and learn from guests. The air was unpolluted out in the desert, the skies clear, the stars beautiful the food delicious, the water plentiful, the bedding cozy and warm, and the service from Hussein fantastic!

Crazy camel safari was the highlight of our trip! From the organisation to the experience everything was made easy. This is a truly authentic experience with real rajastani food cooked there, the guides will teach you how to make everything. The camels are well looked after and very calm, and let free overnight. The views from the desert overnight were breathtaking! Hussain is king of the desert and make the best chai and chapati here! If you get a chance definitely request to come with him!

The rooms are some of the cleanest Ive stayed in my whole trip in India! The staff is so polite, and genuinely trying to help in any way and arrange anything you need, from Safari to bus or train tickets! Their food is delicious, always freshly cooked and good ingredients and clean and just so tasty!! The Safari they took us on was brilliant, stayed under the stars, enjoyed the sand dunes and the desert. Really an experience to remember! Would definitely visit again, and recommended without question!

We had the chance to do a camel safari with crazy Camel Safari in Feb with my family. Our guides were great, fun, and had an exclusive experience when nobody around. In top of that the food was really good, and we had a lot of fun there … Would love to do it again in the future.

I had a really amazing time in Crazy Camel! I stayed in this hostel for a while and was as being at home. Jamin and all the rest of the staff were really kind, always available and ready to help. They also organize amazing safari in the desert, making you live a real and authentic experience, off tourist areas, learning how to cook traditional food and sleeping under the star. The hostel is really near the entrance of the fort and has an amazing terrace, with a rooftop! In the hostel there’s restaurant open all day long, that prepares fresh dishes, with a lot of taste! Thanks Saleem for the best Chapati lessons too! I really recommend them and for sure we'll see each other soon! Asia
