Excellent service at this hotel with Nithu, the staff is very nice and make sure you have everything you need to have a good stay.The food is amazing,the rooms are confortable and room service avalible 24/7 .It is close to everything and the pool and gym is very good

Amazing restaurant with attentive staff. Food was simply amazing we had two buffet breakfasts and one dinner. Service was excellent all 3 times from warm greeting at front to excellent table manner please send complement to all service staff . Chefs should be praised for amazing cuttlefish and prawn curry , food and drink reasonable priced and offered a lot of traditional Jaffna options. Egg hoppers with brown rice for breakfast buffet were amazing and well seasoned which sometimes can be lacking at other places so complements to the young chef making the hoppers . Cakes and toffees were very well made. Curd and treacle option was very welcomed . overall 5 star experience every single time thank you north wing restaurant. Will definitely come again if in Jaffna thank you everyone.

We recently stayed at Northgate Jaffa and had a pleasant experience. The hotel was comfortable, and the rooms were well-maintained. We enjoyed the breakfast, which was quite good. While we appreciated our stay, there’s always room for improvement to make the experience even better. Overall, it was a positive visit, and we look forward to seeing how the hotel evolves in the future!

Northgate Hotel & Restaurant Review Stayed: May 19–21 I stayed at the Northgate Hotel for two nights and was pleased with the overall experience. The hotel is decent and well-maintained, and the staff were excellent—friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout my stay. Upon check-in, the hotel staff recommended the restaurant located on the first floor. I tried the seafood kothu roti on May 19 and was genuinely impressed. Though the dish was dark in colour, it was packed with flavour and had a great mix of seafood—I could taste shrimp, cuttlefish, and fish. It was very well prepared. The dish was reasonably priced at 1700. I also ordered a local arrack cocktail (arrack, passionfruit cordial, lime, etc.), which was refreshing and balanced. Priced at 770, it offered good value for both taste and presentation. Later that evening, I visited Machnag Bar, which is attached to the hotel. I had a 500ml Lion Beer (cost 635) and found the space comfortable and welcoming. The bar also serves food, though I had already eaten at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was included with the room, and the buffet exceeded expectations. It featured a wide selection of traditional items such as puttu, string hoppers, fish kulambu, sambar, dhal, and various sambols. Fresh milk appam (hoppers) were available on order, and they were just as I remembered from childhood—fresh, soft, and full of flavour. Overall, I highly recommend the Northgate Hotel, its first-floor restaurant, and the Machnag Bar. The combination of good food, fair prices, and warm service makes this a great place to stay, dine, and relax with friends or family.

Excellent Service and Comfortable Stay Our recent stay at NorthGate Hotel, Jaffna, was truly delightful. The hotel offers an excellent level of service and a very comfortable stay. NorthGate’s authentic traditional Jaffna cuisine is outstanding—especially the breakfast spread, which was varied, flavorful, and truly satisfying. The rooms are spacious, clean, cozy, and well-maintained, ensuring a restful experience. The beautiful swimming pool was another highlight—very clean and inviting. From the front desk to the kitchen staff, everyone was extremely helpful and attentive. A special thanks to the team for going out of their way to organize a surprise birthday celebration for our friend—complete with delicious cakes that deserve a special mention! The hotel’s location is also very convenient—close to the main city, restaurants, and within walking distance of the Jaffna railway station, which is one of the cleanest and best-maintained stations in Sri Lanka. It was a very pleasant two days in Jaffna, made even better by the warm hospitality at NorthGate Hotel. Thank you very much for everything! Exceptional service provudwd by the staff. The GM Gobinath was an amazing individual who take care of his patrons well. The food was fantastic. The staffs goal os aim to please. Breakfast buffet is delicious. The bar has selection of your choice.
