Best Hotels near Southern Summit Trek (W4) Start, Jabal Shams

What a lovely and unique resort! The drive alone to get there is an adrenaline rush, and not for the faint of heart. The resort is built mostly local material. It has modern touches and amenities while seeming authentically Omani. The breakfast and dinner buffets that were included were excellent. Not a lot of selection but definitely enough, and considering how remote this location is everything was fresh and quite tasty. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The hotel's tagline is ”Designed to Make Your Stay Magnificent” and they certainly lived up to it.

Une vue, un nid d’aigles, un repère, un havre de paix qui se mérite, après une montée de 7 kms sur une route en pleine reconstruction. Il vaut mieux avoir un 4x4. Mais arrivé à bon port, quel dépaysement avec effectivement une vue imprenable et aussi de beaux rapaces qui planent sur la vallée. En Mai avec une moyenne de 38 à 40 degrés, nous avons apprécié d’être un peu en altitude et profiter de la piscine. A la lecture des autres commentaires, j’avais de petites appréhensions sur la qualité des finitions et surtout de la nourriture. Et bien, nous avons peut-être eu de la chance mais tout était plus que bien. Il faut dire que dans cette chaude saison, nous n’étions que deux couples dans l’hôtel. Les chambres sont spacieuses, avec un joli balcon et très belle salle de bain proposant une douche et une baignoire dont la vue mène sur cette vallée (même si je me demande encore pourquoi il y a des baignoires dans les hôtels à l’heure où il faut économiser l’eau surtout dans ces contrées). C’est vraiment un spot à faire une fois dans sa vie.

The hotel built on the edge of the cliff, you can watch the sunrise and sunset, very beautiful. The breakfast was also very good, and the service staff were very nice and helpful. Regarding the service of the hotel, the view is impeccable. The only thing to note is: if you are driving by yourself, you must drive a four-wheel drive up the mountain, otherwise the police at the checkpoint at the bottom of the mountain will not let you go up the mountain. Just before I went up the mountain, I went to the car rental company to re-rent a four-wheel drive up the mountain (the local four-wheel drive rents about 30 to 50 riyals a day). If you don’t want to rent a car and drive by yourself, you can make an appointment with the hotel 48 hours in advance and let the hotel arrange a car to pick you up at the foot of the mountain, but the cost is very high, and the round-trip fare is 130 riyals. It's also worth mentioning that if you don't want to eat the hotel's dinner, you have to bring food up there, and you basically can't find a place to buy food after you go up. If you choose to dine at the hotel, basically the cheapest is about 15 riyals per person.
