Amazing service and onsen facilities. There are both indoor and outdoor, private and public baths to choose from. There are unlimited drinks from the drinks machines and also other complementary food services. Both the meals, breakfast and dinner, were exquisite. It was great to experience traditional Japanese dining. The traditional Japanese building was like a labyrinth and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the many halls and gardens. The location is also great and there are many shops and temples around the area. All in all the perfect place to have a more traditional Japanese experience whilst receiving excellent service.

The hotel is very well maintained and all the stuff are friendly. We had some small unexpected issues when checking in. Thanks to the reception stuff Mr Chikara Chino’s great help, he had been very patient and responsive to find solutions. Soon the issue was solved and we checked in smoothly. The hotel is super great. I would highly recommended tourists to stay and experience at this historical, iconic place. Also many thanks to all the stuff we met during our stay - you all make a very good team :)

The hotel is very old but it feels very old style but that is good for a onsan hotel. The room is big for our family of 3 adults and the inroom onsan is excellent. It also offers multiple public and private onsan, which is great. I tried all of them during my stay.

It is a traditional ryokan with a lot of history. Therefore, due to its age, it cannot provide a too comfortable feeling. There are no lifts / escalators for customers to go to 2/F. I needed to carry two suitcases up 2 steep staircases to my room. The room is clean but just old. It is also not easy to find a TV of that small size in hotels now. The hot springs (Onzen) were fine. Both dinner and breakfast are good, I was seated in a smaller restaurant where I found very comfortable.

I came here during the Golden Week in early May, which was different from the Golden Week between China and Japan. There were very few people. I visited all the hot springs on the day of check-in. I could also enjoy the public hot springs alone. It was very friendly. If I had known this, I would not have booked a room with a bath. I didn't use it, and the bath in the room was indeed too restrictive. Also because it was not a public holiday, the small restaurants near the hotel were not open. The hotel itself did not provide lunch. You had to take the bus opposite the hotel back to Shuzenji tram station to eat. The environment was beautiful, and there were a variety of breakfast and dinner dishes, some delicious and some just average. It is said that you can order a special menu on the local website, including grilled wagyu... I envy it. There are late-night ramen, ice cream, coffee, tea, juice, etc. that are always available. In short, it was quite enjoyable and comfortable, and it was worth it even if it was a bit expensive.

Because we were traveling by car, it was not very difficult to get to this hotel, and there is a parking lot outside the door. We live in a new building, so we have to cross a bridge, and it rains that day. We have three suitcases, so we are a little embarrassed, but overall it is OK. The room is so beautiful, so big and clean. Note that there is no window in the shower area, but there is a bamboo curtain. It is recommended to shower first, then directly soak in the hot spring, get up and shower again. That way you won't get married. The hotel has a total of four private baths and two public baths. In the evening we had kaiseki cuisine, and in the morning we had Japanese breakfast. Both of us thought it tasted good, and no one else said it tasted bad. (Everyone has different tastes) I hope to stay again if I have the opportunity in the future.

It has a sense of history. Celebrities and royal families have stopped by. There are hot spring pools in three places, an ancient private bath, a private bath + 5~8 people bath, and a large bath. There are free drinks and beer at many places 24 hours a day. There is milk and snacks in the lounge above the large bath during the day. The milk is especially delicious. I drank a bottle in one go. They also provide supper soup noodles in the evening, which tastes really good. It is more than 2 kilometers away from Shuzenji Railway Station. The bus stop is just opposite the door, which can go directly to Shuzenji JR Station. There are also passing buses, which run every 20 minutes or so. When you come out of JR Shuzenji Station, there are taxi stations and bus stations on the left, which is very convenient for taking a taxi. Shuzenji is not a big place. I walked around it in 2~3 hours. I didn't expect that there is a train that goes directly to Tokyo Station. There are two trains a day, which saves the trouble of reversing. The attached picture is the timetable of the direct train. It seems that there are only five carriages at Shuzenji Station. When I got off the train in Tokyo, I saw that it became more than ten carriages.

The room was nice, the food was average, it was really average, it was my first time taking a hot spring bath in Japan and it smelled like disinfectant, this was the hotel I was most looking forward to during this trip

The small apar**ent with hot spring is good and cost-effective. The large apar**ent is old. The public hot spring is very hygienic, the hot spring water is excellent and slippery. You must go to the hot spring. The catering is OK

It was a stay experience that was more disappointing than expected. The reason why I booked this hotel is because it is relatively close. Many top-ranked hotels basically have no rooms. Only this Kikuya has rooms. I saw that it is a house with a history of more than 300 years, so I booked it for two nights. I want to experience it slowly. Because Japanese hotels can only check in at 3pm, we arrived after 4pm, but we still had to wait for almost 2 to 30 minutes before checking in. The hotel provides dinner, and the staff told us that the dinner time is 19:45 (I learned the next day that there are only two time slots for dinner, one is 17:30 and the other is 19:45. Well... one is too early and the other is too early. Late...I don’t understand the hotel’s thinking) So we could only buy some snacks from the store inside the hotel when we were hungry, and went to the hot springs. As a result, we became increasingly hungry. At 18:00, everyone lined up to receive the free oden provided by the hotel (forgot to take pictures). It was really pitiful. I said it was like bird food. I felt even hungrier after eating it. The layout of the hotel, in addition to The lobby is a restaurant, a shopping store, and several hot springs. I tried the hot springs and found them to be unremarkable. Among them, private hot springs must be used with caution. The water was extremely dirty. I don’t know if it was dirt on the human body’s skin or dirt from outside. It looked too dirty. Affect mood. Let’s talk about the room. It’s 6,000 RMB per night. It’s described as 35 square meters, with 2 beds, and a semi-open-air hot spring (a wooden bathtub on the balcony). I’d really appreciate it! The hotel has arranged three rooms with 1-meter beds. It is the farthest room in the farthest corner of the entire hotel. From the lobby to the room, you have to go up and down, in and out, and around like a maze. ...Then the room was small and cramped, with single facilities and no room service. It was the first time that I felt so dissatisfied with a room that cost 6,000 a night. Even 2,000 a night was too much. Dinner was average, nothing special to comment on. There are two kinds of breakfast, Japanese and Western. The Japanese one we chose (pictured) looks very rich because there are many plates unique to Japan😅 Originally booked for 2 nights, my companion and I immediately decided to cancel the room for the next day. Although the hotel stated that cancellations were not allowed, we still contacted Ctrip to give it a try. As expected, the hotel responded that it must pay attention to the spirit of the contract and cannot refund. , but promised to change me to a room with 2 beds. We were determined that instead of spending this time being unhappy in such a room, even if we lost 6,000, we didn't want to stay there anymore. The next day we walked around, returned to the hotel in the afternoon, checked out, and returned to Tokyo. There is another detail. When we checked out, the boy at the front desk asked us why we checked out. Is it because of the trip back to China? I didn't want to answer at first, but after thinking about it, I should tell the truth, so I said it was because of the hotel experience. Not as good as expected, so I don’t want to continue my stay. The interesting thing is that the staff did not express any apology, but nodded expressionlessly and gave me the bill. I think this is the most unworthy stay experience I have ever experienced, just for your reference. If the room was only 1,000 or 2,000, I would not comment like this. What price matches what service? However, Kikuya does not match it at all. For those who want to experience the surrounding attractions, I suggest that staying in a nearby hotel for one night at most is enough, because there is nothing particularly interesting to visit, unless you just want to soak in hot springs. There are many hotels with hot springs.

A very disappointing experience, please see my previous review for details. I regretted booking for two nights because I couldn't refund, so I checked out after only staying one night. I lost a room worth 6,000 a night, but I don't regret it.

The environment is great, the room is very spacious, and the private bath in the room is also very good. The service is very attentive, there is a tea room with special seats, coffee and various tea drinks, and milk in the morning. The quality of dinner kaiseki is also online!
