Ranked as a top hotel in a very exclusive historic setting, Dona Carolina has seen better days. The buildings and surrounding landscapes are beautiful. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Restaurants are buffet style, quality of food is excellent. Only minus is the hotel was packed with families and we had to eat all meals surrounded by dozens of very young children running around the tables plauing and shouting... Our room was of good size. Bed, Linnen and pillows were good. The bathroom has aged and the shower was weak. Towels were old and fraying. Electricity outlets from last century... We did not use the pool since it is not heated. Nice hotel. For families with young children. Very expensive for what it is.

I am not sure how to put into words our experience at Hotel Fazenda Dona Carolina. It was… breathtaking. Almost 200 acres of beautiful grounds with a lake, hiking trails, kayaks, ziplines, and incredible food. When we arrived on an early Friday afternoon, our room wasn’t ready, but they made sure that we were able to take advantage of the grounds and the food offerings. Once we got our room, we were charmed by the beautiful room and the view of the Brazilian countryside. While we were there, we spent a lot of time at the pool. It’s a large pool and it’s heated, so even though the temperatures were between 70 and 82, we were always comfortable in the pool. Their poolside service was also amazing. Everyone was so accommodating, even though we didn’t speak Portuguese and very few of the staff spoke English. It was actually fun when I would use my translate app and they would help me pronounce words I didn’t know. The rooms were immaculate. The property was stunning. We had the opportunity to hike several miles around the property without having to leave it. And the food. Can I talk about the food? Every meal had an amazing spread of local dishes, breads, cheeses, and on the weekend - rotisserie meats like carne asada and sausage. This is a family-friendly resort, and even though my husband and I were on an early 25th Anniversary trip without our four (adult) kids, we loved seeing all the families enjoying their time together. It reminded us of when our kids were small and made us very happy. The kindness and patience of the entire staff made this a memorable stay. At some point, we plan to come back and maybe share this with our children and grandchildren. Thank you to the entire Dona Carolina team!

Fantastic hotel, with great food, friendly service and fun entertainment for kids. We had issues with our flight and arrived in the hotel in the middle of the night. That was no problem for the reception which was able to check us in without problems. New Year celebration was also fantastic! Well organized, with an awesome dinner and music. We will definitely come back!!!

My experience could not have been better! The hotel is sophisticated and charming and the staff are all very attentive and helpful. The food at every meal was divine. I would like to give a special thanks to Bárbara, who helped my fiancé prepare a wonderful surprise for my engagement, and to André (who does the ecological tour) who demonstrated incredible knowledge of biology, as well as being a lovely person. We spent a magical weekend at the hotel and we can only thank all the staff and collaborators!

Our stay at Hotel Fazenda Dona Carolina was incredible! We stayed three nights and enjoyed every second of it. I went with my wife and my in-laws, who are Dutch, and they were enchanted by the landscape, the pool and the tranquility of the place. My mother was also with us and loved the experience. We took the cachaça tour with Saulo and the coffee tour with Seu Jair, who is a true living legend. He explained the entire coffee process with so much knowledge and passion that it was impossible not to get involved. We learned a lot and left admiring this tradition even more. The resort is beautiful and super well-kept, but what really made the difference was the staff. The service was simply spectacular! A special hug to the F&B staff, Maurício, Japa and the entire team, who treated us like we were family. You made our experience unforgettable! Thank you very much for everything! We are already thinking about our next visit.

The Hotel Fazenda Dona Carolina preserves unique characteristics of the history of our state. It is a cozy and welcoming place. The staff has excellent training. Two people in our group were Dutch, and the hotel has English-speaking staff who help with communication. The meals are served in pleasant, high-quality restaurants. The classes on the art of making cachaça with Saulo, and the great class on the art of planting and harvesting coffee, as well as knowing how to taste, make and appreciate a good coffee with Mr. Jair, are unmissable. At the bar, both before lunch and in the afternoon and evening, there is always a pleasant bartender making delicious drinks. A ten out of ten goes to Wesley who developed a drink with Brazilian ingredients (annatto, cachaça), simply wonderful!!! Dona Carolina, an experience to keep in your memory and heart.
