Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet

Sultan Ahmed Mosque Istanbul|0.53km from The Museum of the Ancient Orient
The room is not big, but the location is super good. The hotel's garden is also very nice, and it's quite nice to take photos. Just 2 minutes after going out, turn right and you will see the Blue Mosque and Sophia Cathedral. There are two Egyptian monuments and a snake-headed staff on the square. The starting point of the sightseeing tour bus is right on the square. It is very convenient to get there. To exit the square, go left. Going out is Victory Street, which is very lively and has trams running through it, which is also very unique. Go down (right) on Victory Street and you will go to the Old Palace. If you look at the mosque on the left and Sophia Cathedral on the right, the Basilica Cistern is on the right side of the square. The entrance to the Basilica Cistern is where people are queuing across the road. We stayed for 5 nights and walked around every day. It was very atmospheric. In Muslim countries, prayers are held five times a day. When the loudspeaker sounds, it is most disturbing in the early morning. However, they seem to be very conscious, and the volume is slightly lower in the morning and the duration is shorter. The rest of the time, just enjoy listening to music when praying. Every time, there is a live broadcast of prayers in every mosque, playing a long tune as if singing, which is very exotic. Basically, you have to negotiate the price of a taxi, and Grab also negotiates the price. They all charge extortionate prices, so you must negotiate before getting in the car.

Getting to the hotel. - take a cab from the airport we paid around 700 liras which is an average cost. We took a yellow cab. - The hotel staff were actually really amazing and very responsive. I was coordinating with the staff in the hotel via text and requested them to keep my room keys ready as I just needed to crash due to long travel. When I arrived they already had the keys ready and within 5 mins I was in my room. So amazing job for checking me in it was super easy. -The room is not very big atleast the one which I stayed in barely any space to move around in the room so you can just sleep. - The location is the highlight as you can just walk around to the main attractions. And the tram station is just next to the hotel. - Travelling around was very convenient which I always look for before booking any hotel. - Now The reason for me to give 3 stars is because of the toilet being dirty broken and also leaking toilet bowl the toilet cleanliness is the major requirement for me due to Hygiene purposes however the one in my room smelled bad and dirty which was a major flaw. Also on the first night the ac was not working and they informed us that they can’t fix it as it’s centralized ac which I understand as it’s technical stuff and can’t get a technician in the middle off the night , to our luck windows could be kept open and the weather was nice so AC issue didn’t affect us too much. BUT STILL THE TOILETS UHH I wish this could be taken care of. Apart from all this breakfast is ok not great not bad just ok. I would like to highlight the staff were really welcoming it’s just the wear and tear of the hotel. I hope this review would be helpful for whoever is about to visit.

1. I booked a room in this hotel with booking.com. Obviously the hotel prefers to get clients from booking, but does not want to pay their fee, so what they do is inform booking.com that the client's card is not working - in this case you get 24 hours to renew your card, after which the booking is cancelled. I tried to contact the hotel regarding the payment (my card was valid and active and had sufficient funds), but the hotel never replied. Later at check-in they told me that they never tried charging my card. Several hours after check-in the hotel confirmed to booking.com that my card still was not working, and my booking was cancelled - even though by that time I was already staying at the hotel! 2. Payment. The hotel states EUR as their currency, and the prices are fixed in EUR, and cards are accepted. Nevertheless, the hotel prefers cash - they keep up the show that the terminal is not working, then they insisted that if the payment is made by card it can be made in Turkish lira only (at their own internal exchange rate, of course). After I insisted that we call booking.com right now, the terminal magically started to work properly and allowed to pay in EUR by card. The whole experience was quite unpleasant. 3. Transfer. The hotel provides a transfer for 50 EUR from the airport to the hotel. I was planning to come to the hotel after a 13 hour flight, and I did not want to deal with ordering a taxi, or finding a hotel which may be tricky in Istanbul - but I ended up waiting for 40 (FORTY!) minutes for the transfer - there were 2 people meeting me at the airport, but they did not have my name on the list, so I tried to call the hotel (which by the way never picked up the phone during the 30 minute period I kept calling, and it was normal business hours). 4. When we finally got to our room, there was no water - neither hot, nor cold. I had to go back to the reception (4 floors, no elevator) where I was told that the hotel is having some repairs done, so the water would probably be working in 20 minutes (which it did, but it was really dirty with brown color for some time). The next morning the repairs started right behind our room which was awfully loud - and then they had some wall painting or something like that, so the smell was just unbearable. 5. Security. It is normal practice to leave your bags at the hotel after check-out - do not do this if you dare to stay in this place - the bags are left in plain view in 2 meters of the open front door with no hotel staff around. By the way, all the keys are also just laying around, so you might think twice before leaving anything valuable in your room as well. And definitely do not leave the key at the reception when you go out (even though they are heave and uncomfortable to carry with you). 6. There were also some small issues - like missing slippers (one pair instead of two), a weird burn on one of the furniture pieces, some ants in the room... 7. The only good things I can say about th

We travel quite a bit as a family ( 2 children ages 7 and 12 ) but don’t always review. This hotel deserves every accolade we could provide. We had a family connecting room which was great and a perfect amount of space for all. Having two bathrooms was a real plus! Beds were comfortable and the room servicing was impeccable. The people go above and beyond, are incredibly kind and hospitable. The hotel is very well kept, clean, and has such a special charm. It is perfectly located to everything in the Old Town and has a beautiful terrace to sit on and enjoy the view of the Bosphorus. We would sit out at night and watch the sun set with a glass of wine and Fanta for the kids. The breakfast is wonderful and excellent quality. Have it included in your stay if you can. It is worth it. We search for great food and this exceeded our expectation. It is so fresh and changes daily. The staff is attentive and so helpful. The shop directly beside, Tencer Gift Shop is so wonderful. The owner is so kind and generous. We recommend getting something from him over the Grand Bazaar. Overall we had an incredible experience at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone! Thank you Sirkeci Mansion from the Canadian Family.

Very clean, excellent location, very friendly service. Rooms are small but more than adequate and quite comfortable. 10 mins walk from Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque, 20 mins walk to either Bazaar. 2mins to park, 20 mins to Bosphorus straight. Plenty of places to eat right there, and plenty of tourist shops. Venture a little further and you will find better priced meals than tourist areas. Would stay at this hotel again.

Hotel was booked via booking.com and payment method was selected as card. On arriving we were asked to pay in cash. On the question why it is so as we counted on card payment, receptionist told „we are not cooperating with booking”. We afraid that we will be charged twice so we changed payment method to another empty card and agreed to pay in cash. We counted that they will give us invoice so we can complain booking about this as the hotel is not following booking policy. So, once we payed cash they reject to provide any invoice so we suspect this guys avoiding taxes and putting money in the pocket cheating on tax office. When we checked in we spot they provided a room with 2 beds instead of 3 and it was smaller then the one we booked. They promised they will change it next morning but that was a lie. The next morning the guy told that all rooms „are the same” we asked him to prove that showing us other rooms and he told „no free rooms”. When needed receptionist pretends he does not speak english. I was asked to call the owner of the hotel (on my own btw) and talk about this. He responded once and promised everything will be ok. He lied as well and next time he did not pick up the phone. So, be aware this hotel consists of filthy liars. Cheating with payments and room conditions included.
