We booked the most basic room at Sura Design Hotels however we’re given an upgrade by Burek on reception. We had booked for four nights initially and we were so happy with the hotel that we extended our stay another three nights. When we asked if we could have another upgrade the response was of course, we have done this automatically. Since we were in Istanbul for a total of two weeks it was wonderful to find a hotel that felt like “home.” And that had a lot to do with the fact their sister property is across a narrow road so each morning we went there for a gym workout then breakfast. Big shoutout to the delightful Ahmet who looked after us in the breakfast restaurant,

Location is very good and near Hagia Sophia. The staff is very helpful and help us book the taxi to airport. We have wonderful holiday here and will try to visit and stay at this hotel.

The location of the hotel is excellent, close to the tram stop and the main attractions. Breakfasts are good, but you have to ask for coffee, there is no coffee machine available. Since we had to check out at 5 am, we ordered lunch boxes the day before. We asked in the evening, they said they would give them to us at 5 am. In the morning they said - yes, now. We have traveled so much, this is the first time we have encountered this. It feels like the reception staff was just making fun of us. The only positive thing about the hotel is its location. The rest was irritating: the room on the 4th floor had a sloping ceiling down to the bed. The photos provided when booking showed the room to be larger. There were 2 tables right under the roof slope and to get to them you had to bend down a lot, hitting your head on the ceiling several times. You had to plug the kettle into the socket yourself, moving the refrigerator. The refrigerator is on semiconductors, which means that you leave the room, the lights go out and all the food in the refrigerator stops cooling, and it does not keep cold on its own. The mattress is very strange, at first I thought that they put a blanket between the mattress and the sheet. The doors and walls do not block out sounds at all, it is as if the neighbors live in your room. They came to clean the room at 9 am, which is very early, we had not even woken up yet. In the room instead of mugs there are paper cups and there are no teaspoons, this is very inconvenient, it is not clear how to stir sugar in tea. The biggest let down was this booking site, we made a reservation with breakfast, but in fact it turned out to be without breakfast and the support could not fix this situation in any way, except for the offer to pay for breakfast sometime after check-out. We did not like the hotel at all, we would not book again.
