Beautiful welcoming hotel, lovely helpful staff. We loved the feel of the place. Bedrooms were comfortable and clean. The food in the bar was well presented and beautiful. Breakfast was gorgeous too! Staff are hard working and professional. Barbara in particular made our stay wonderful, she is a real asset to the team there. What would have made our stay even better would be if the shower had a bit more power and regular temperature. We will be back! Iris xxx

Great place for food, they have a varied menu and specials. It seemed to be popular for solo diners also. They have local gins, which was great to try. There is also a lounge area to relax in, which was great after a meal. The staff were very friendly, helpful and provided a great service.

Excellent meal from ‘limited Sunday’ menu. Superb topside of beef with roast potatoes and mash (one should never have to choose!) served on a hot plate ie they got all the little things right. Combined with lovely staff and warm surroundings this place is good!

A wonderful stay unfortunately for only one night as the weather and ferry shortened our stay…. The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff were all amazing We went into the bar for our dinner (food was really good) and had a great night chatting with the staff, locals and other guests, we even got some impromptu entertainment of Scottish Fiddle music by two young ladies What a great way to start our holiday

We had the Venison with Stornoway black pudding mash and jus. The best venison ever and it melted in your mouth. The whole meal was superb. A super classic hotel not attacked my modern decor. Staff friendly. Drinks not expensive. I don’t think any chef could beat this venison. Thank you.

Arrived at the hotel. We were early and felt in the way. The rooms were probay a 2 star. Ordered a meal for the evening what a disappointment. Although the staff were ok they were young a d inexperienced. The food was poor. When it came to desserts we were told the kitchen was closed. Sadly breakfast was really tasteless . Everything seemed out of date. Coffee warm breakfast pretty poor.

The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating and I think they do the best job with the resources that are available to them. The rooms, like the hotel are tired and dated. The furniture looks as though it has been picked up from the local charity shop and there is only a small hanging area for your clothes, no wardrobe because the room is so small. The bathroom is relatively neat and the very best thing about it is that the water is hot and the shower works adequately. The loo seat however was broken. The food in the evening was passable but when we asked for the sweet menu after our first course we were told the kitchen was shut and that was that! In the morning breakfast was absolutely disgusting. The dishes that contained the prunes were stained and the presentation was poor. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anybody because it’s expensive for what it is. In fact if I have learned anything this holiday, it is that B&B is the way forward. You’ll get more for your money and you won’t be reliant on a company that care if you stay at their hotel or not.

We had booked for an evening meal at this hotel. Borrodale is a nice friendly looking hotel, in South Uist. We had booked a table at 7.15. We were staying at a B&B up the road, and following a long day's cycling on route from Castle Bay, we were hungry so cycled along to Borrodale slightly earlier than planned arriving at 6.55. We were told very plainly, that although we could sit our table, nothing, not so much as half an olive or a crust of bread would be served to us before our booked time of 7.15. when our order would be taken. So we sat and waited. No apology, no little snack , nothing. A little disappointing. Come 7.15, a waitress came to take our order. I was tempted to say we had not read the menu yet but we were too hungry to do that, so ordered. Our food was aboslutely fine, and good value. The service from this point on, satisfactory. We would just say that if customers do arrive early, even if orders cannot be taken before their alloted time, the customer should be made to feel more welcome than we were, and perhaps offered a drink or snack whilst waiting.
