The environment is beautiful, located by the lake, the service is first-class, the hotel is very cost-effective, the Scottish sister-in-law in the restaurant can tell jokes, the cooking skills are first-class, pure Scottish cuisine, and the main dish is recommended for the main dish, Scotch lamb shank.

We booked 8 months ago from Australia and upon our arrival were shocked at the room we were allocated. We had two suitcases and there was no room to open them. The window was frosted, so no view. The window was open in the rain and very hard to close. The bathroom is ridiculous; tiny, no hand towel rail, no shower shelf, smallest shower cubicle I’ve ever seen, no shelf for sponge bag. The amount we were charged was unbelievable for a room you could not swing a cat in. We asked to be moved to a bigger room but there were none available. After heated discussions we were given a partial credit for our two night booking. Not satisfied, but something. On a brighter note, the staff were polite and attentive, especially at breakfast. The breakfast was lovely with perfectly poached eggs. The restaurant is bright and spacious and our dinner was very nice. It was pouring with rain upon our arrival. Would be nice to have a portico to drive under to unload suitcases in ‘the dry’ and then park the car. When we settled our account the staff member walked back into the reception desk and didn’t help us with our luggage. I asked if he could hold the door open, which he did but then left us to get our cases to our car. For the price charged the lack of customer service was astonishing. He should have assisted with our luggage.

We really enjoyed staying at The Skeabost House Hotel. Highly recommend it. The location is quite beautiful, and the service was warm and friendly. We very much enjoyed the dinner meals overlooking the water and pretty scenery. The Cullen Skink chowder and the Baked Cod were very good. Our room was very comfortable. We walked down the lane to cross over to St. Columba's Isle which is behind the hotel across the river. It is a very special place to see. We will definitely be back.

The Skeabost exceeded our expectations in every way We stayed in 5 hotels across Scotland, and this was our favorite. We hope to visit again on our next trip to Isle of Skye!

This was a very expensive disappointment. The room was pleasant enough with a good bathroom etc. but the bed was a disgrace. For that price you do not expect a bed where you can feel the springs. Totally unacceptable. On the first night there was a fire alarm that woke us up. No information, no idea if it was serious, no communication from the staff, no idea if we were expected to evacuate. Totally unprofessional behaviour by the management which left us concerned and unsure what to do. We had dinner on the first night. It was not a good experience. My wife had Cod which was either frozen or very old. Certainly not fresh and not pleasant to eat. I had a Stuffed Chicken concoction in a portion that was so small as to be insulting for a main course. We did not eat there again. Breakfast was equally bad with poached eggs that resembled hard boiled eggs and toast that had hardly seen a toaster. It was also unacceptable to be having breakfast as the staff were clearing the dining room making it clear they would like us to hurry up and leave. Not a good experience all round and not one I would recommend to others.

We loved our stay at the Skeabost House Hotel. Not only was the property and the food lovely but the staff was absolutely adorable and made our stay above and beyond special. We will most definitely be back !

We stayed at the Skeabost hotel for three nights in July and overall were very disappointed. We booked a deluxe room and were assigned the highest up room on the very top floor( no elevator) with no view and was small. After requesting a room move we were moved to a much nicer and more spacious room for the last two nights. Dinner in the restaurant was mediocre at best. The starter tortellini consisted of one piece of pasta and one shrimp. I ordered Cullen Skink as a main course however it was lacking smoked haddock but was full of potatoes. The “ full Scottish breakfast” consisted of one egg, one sausage and one piece of bacon. As a Scott this is certainly not what I expected. Overall a disappointment and certainly not value for money.

We were travelling around Scotland and stayed in 5 hotels in 8 nights. This was by far the worst value for money! We communicated this upon departure but no one seemed to care. My husband wrote a review that the hotel sent to him as their standard practice and he communicated the same message but we have not had a response. The evening meal was not great, service could have been better. The breakfast waitress was charming. Breakfast was lovely! Rooms were very small and claustrophobic. All in all not the best experience of our holiday.

Do not book if you are two friends or siblings traveling together. Also way too expensive. This is for golfers or rich people.
