Fantastic relaxation. Idyllic location - breezy point, white sand beach, immaculate grounds. Gorgeous dark wood buildings and furniture with abundant art. And incredibly friendly and helpful staff. However - perusing the few negative reviews - these are "Robinson Crusoe / Summer Camp" rooms - very comfortable but spartan. The food is plentiful and good - but its not great. If you need either of those, this is not for you. Also in Latin countries young children are not segregated the way Anglos do, so you need to be OK with lots of kids doing what kids do. Most of the staff speaks little English - hey it's Colombia, good time to learn some Spanish. And there is no "nightlife" - both of the resort bars are largely deserted in the evenings, and there is nowhere else to go on the island. But if you want tranquility, this place has it. When you need a jolt, kayak around the island, couple miles of fun. And we enjoyed wine on our veranda in the evenings rather than clubbing. Only real complaint is that internet access is sporadic, but that was also true in Cartagena. So - highly recommended.

Such a magical place if you are seeking beauty and serenity. The rooms are lovely--spring for a waterview if you can. The group meals are fun and easy, and the food is good (not amazing, but it's a tiny remote island without many natural resources). Best lemonade and limeade ever! Lovely bar on the water, wild toucans, highly recommend.

Just wanted to reiterate the review made on February 2023 . This gives a detailed breakdown of the hotel. My husband and I loved it after14 days travelling around Colombia. R and R here is beautiful!!!!! Fabulous beach and absolutely beautiful ambience! Food is plentiful, but not gastronomic. However, the isle does know how to cook shrimp and some white fish… tilapia for example. The desserts are excellent and extremely tempting!!!! Oh , so are the soups… strange for such a hot area , but Colombia are big on soups. The hotel do cater for dietary requirements, but you must be clear about your needs. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay very special. Thank you especially to Dairo , who works on reception and was hugely helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel experience but please be aware it takes 2/2.5 hours from Cartegena to get here. Well worth it , however it is an effort to get here.

The loud screaming kids (not ours) had a great time. Everyone else subjected to them when dining or at the beach, did not. This place prides itself on being a getaway, oasis, unplugging from it all... yet on our third trip here we were faced with a playground atmosphere for the third time. we thought the first two visits to this lovely place plagued with crying babies were anomalies. If there were choices of beaches or places to eat we might have been able to avoid them. Parents usually opt for the pool when traveling with small kids, leaving the beach for the adults - not the case here as there is no pool. Parents usually opt for the chicken finger and french fry casual restaurant instead of the expensive romantic restaurant - not the case here as there is only one place where they set up the high school cafeteria serving station for each meal. A nice touch but you are just eating the same food in a different section of seats where they have yet another behind the plexiglass "we serve you" buffet. Many getaway resorts do not allow children under 12. This one allows new borns - and it seems they were all there on this latest trip. Another couple had a little dog that was very well behaved compared to the kids. Any small intimate place where one cannot leave can be quickly ruined by bad guests.

Hotel Punta Faro, located on Isla Murcura off of the west coast of Colombia, South America, is a clean, comfortable, quiet, beautiful, secluded, private, resort hotel. A stay here definately has the right stuff to relax & re-charge. Balanced, tasty meals are included in your room price and are served buffet style by the ever attentive staff at different outside and covered locations around the grounds. Rooms are nice, spacious, clean and have Good A/C. The resort has it's own water treatment facility which makes for great fresh water. There is a small dive shop & a dive master on location and boat trips are available for snorkeling and diving locations in the area. Also a private, white sand beach with chairs, tables, lounge chairs, gazebos for your relaxing pleasure. The spa can massage away your knots or give you facial/body treatments. For shopping, a small boutique with hand selected offerings and a few essentials. Walking trails and bike paths call you to explore the island, which is a must. A no music/noise policy is a welcome change. Laundry service available. Great for couples wanting to get away to peace and quiet. Not for the party hardy crowd! From Cartagena, a two and a half hour boat ride on open ocean brings you to the resort. (check weather for your boat travel day and plan accordingly) This transportation is all arranged by the Resort and included. Safe location, owners who pay attention, staff that is ever attentive, clean, comfortable accomodations, good food. Punta Faro everyone!

Simple 3 star hotel - very pleasant, but don’t go for food. If you look at this place as a 3 star hotel it is lovely. Rooms are spotless, location amazing and plenty of loungers to lie on the beach. Crystal clear waters to swim in Lovely and quiet. The downside is the food. They basically have 2 choices - meat or fish. Lunch and dinner. It’s not a buffet but served behind plexiglass. Think school dinners but a bit better out of vats. It’s filling but compared to the food of Columbia very bland. They are catering to the lowest common denominator for the masses. The budget is small I think as it’s not adventurous. I commend re use, but we saw things coming back the day after in different guises. The other big issue is if you are vegetarian. They treat it the same as if you had an allergy the manager told me. You have to pre notify them if your ‘condition’ so they can have some food. My daughter ate lettuce leaves one evening as a result - they literally had nothing she could eat. He said they were ‘working on it’. I don’t think being a vegetarian is a condition. Oh - the bar closes the same time as the restaurant at 9. I’m not a heavy drinker but a quick glass of wine after dinner might have been nice or even a coffee! So - lovely simple rooms, great location but don’t come here for the food. If you are a vegetarian good luck!

We stayed 3 nights and had a wonderful time. Perfect resort for families, or anyone really. It’s really hard to do food on isolated islands and we thought the good was stellar. Highly recommend the bioluminescent swim, it was a bucket list item.

Hotel Punta Faro is a small beach resort located on Isla Mucura, about a 2.5 hour boat ride away from Cartagena. There are about 45 rooms on the property and there is a minimum 2 night stay requirement. As for the food, it’s all inclusive/full-board; 3 buffet-style meals per day are provided. In addition, the hotel has a no music rule to maintain a peaceful and calm setting to relax and enjoy nature. We spent 2 nights at Hotel Punta Faro in May during our trip to Colombia and share details about our stay to help you decide if you want to stay here. Location: 16/20 Hotel Punta Faro is located on Isla Mucura, a small island in Colombia’s Caribbean region. The resort is only accessible via speedboat from Cartagena. The speedboat ride takes about 2.5 hours and it is over open ocean. On our way to the resort, the boat ride took a little over 3 hours due to rough ocean conditions that made the trip a little scary to be honest. We were expecting some bumps but this was much more intense than that and we arrived to the resort completely soaked and happy to be getting off the boat. Thankfully, the return trip was much better and more pleasant. The setting is very peaceful and when you come to Hotel Punta Faro, it’s to relax and enjoy being there. Please note that there are limits on how much luggage you can bring due to limited space on the boat. Please see the hotel website for more information. Bed & Sleep Quality: 18/20 Our bed was comfortable and we slept well. We stayed in a Suite with Sea View and the room was either soundproofed well or the other guests were very quiet as we did not hear any noise. We also had a nice view of the sunrise each morning. There was a nice breeze but we had to sleep with the door closed as there was no screens and no ceiling fan. Room and room amenities: 18/20 We stayed in a Suite with Seaview. The room had a king bed, a mini-fridge, safe, a nice deck with lounge chairs, a hammock, and a table and chairs with a view of the ocean. The room had a cottage feel to it but was very comfortable and styled to be rustic. Two bottles of water were provided on arrival but not replenished daily. Daily housekeeping was also offered and very efficient and impeccable. There is also no television in the room which is nice and the bed faces out towards the view. Bathroom: 7/10 The bathroom was basic but clean: the toilet was in a separate room, the sink in a separate area and the shower was outdoors. The outdoor shower with a view of the ocean was a nice feature. They also provided L’Occitane toiletries which were great but a local option would have been nice too. Hotel public areas and amenities: 7/10 The resort is very laid back and casual and appeals to couples, families, and large groups traveling together. We met people from the UK, Spain, USA, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, and France. There are no room keys and since it is all-inclusive, you don’t need to walk around with cash (you can leave a tip at checkout in a b
