We stayed at the Palacio Ico for 5 nights in early October of 2024. We felt fortunate to have found this beautifully designed and run hotel. As mentioned in other reviews, Teguise is perfectly placed for easy access to every part of Lanzarote with Teguise itself worth any time you can spend there. Sonsoles is a perfect host and we would like to give a special thank you to Nicholas, who arranged a replacement rental car for us when ours broke down. He went out if his way when he did not have to. We have been lucky enough to have traveled widely and have stayed in some great hotels and rentals. The Hotel Palacio Ico will always be near the top of our memory bank when we consider the places we have been in this world. If you have the opportunity to stay in Teguise at the Hotel Palacio Ico...jump...you will not regret it.

There needs to be a “Good” rating, Average seems harsh so I have been generous. The rooms are reached via a central courtyard, ours was on the upper floor. Most importantly the bed was very comfortable, though the pillows were hard and lumpy. But as this is almost always the case I take my own pillow when I travel. The ceiling was high giving a feeling of space and airiness. There is a kettle and a mini nesspresso machine, this is partly why I chose this hotel. Though you only get one coffee pod per day per person, I did ask for more on the first day but ended up just buying some. The little fridge in the room is useful (and quiet) but be aware that when you remove your room key from its slot in the room all the electrics switch off, including the fridge! The large shower was great, with plentiful hot water. The towels were on the small side and rather thin and threadbare. Just a little more attention to detail would make a huge difference, maybe a box of tissues, a couple of hooks for bags and jackets, a second armchair… Breakfast is very good, though we had to skip it on several mornings as they don’t serve breakfast until half eight and then it is fairly slow. A selection of items are brought to the table, a dish of prepared fruit, good toast, a plate of average cheese and meat, a little dish of excellent grated tomato with olive oil and a fab avocado mousse thing. Smoothie of the day was mostly successful. Also yogurt and granola. Eggs are offered too. The impression is that they are understaffed, so the staff who are perfectly nice and friendly give the feeling of being rushed/harassed. The courtyard is very pretty but somehow not a comfortable place to sit and relax. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, every other evening it is absolutely packed so booking ahead is advisable. Good food with a standout dish of diced smoked salmon on a bed of avocado mousse with a ginger dressing and topped with a julienne of radish. A steak and a dish of local fish were prettily presented. The only other restaurant of note in Teguise was closed for the month of January.

Stayed for one night, whilst on vacation exploring Lanzarote. This small boutique style hotel is located inland in the old capital of Lanzarote, Teguise. Good parking nearby, and if you stay on Sunday, you are right on the edge of the large local market. Check-in and out involved a short delay as the lady on reception was also serving in the restaurant, however she was friendly and offered good advice about local attractions. The ground floor room was excellent, very large (more like a suite really), with a clever mixture of traditional architecture with modern amenities. Very comfortable bed, excellent shower, good WIFI, and the efficient AC, coupled with the traditional construction kept the room nicely cool. Breakfast was also very good with a range of good quality dishes brought to your table. The hotel had a beautiful central courtyard, recommended for taking an after-dinner drink. I’d call the hotel a hidden gem, but given they only had a single night’s availability during my trip in October it seems a very popular place!

Wonderful hotel! Great location, very clean, Rustic Sophisticated ambiance. Great restaurant onsite, easy parking. Totally awesome stay! We plan to stay here in the future when we next return to Lanzarote. We were there for the market on Sunday and it was just steps away. If your stay includes a Sunday plan an extra hour for this.

Great hotel in the center of Teguise. The room is huge and absolutely beautiful (we stayed in room no.6 with a balcony), the breakfast, made at the moment, is rich and exquisite and the people working there, like Irene, are extremely kind and helpful.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Palacio Ico in Teguise, as part of a cycling tour of Lanzarote. The hotel is beautifully presented throughout in a classically Canarian style, our en-suite room even had a small Yoga studio attached, which was an ideal space to relax after the day’s cycling. The hostess was very knowledgable and able to give some great advice and recommmedations for food, shops, activities etc Breakfast was beautifully presented and was as much a feast for the eyes as the tummy. A 5-Star stay at this hotel and we will definitely return in the future.

We stayed for a week in Palacio Ico and I could not imagine a prettier town in Lanzarote or a prettier hotel. Arranged around a charming courtyard our room was a suite (#9) on the upper level and was extremely spacious, comfortable and peaceful. The food was good and the wines were lovely. My husband suffered an extreme reaction to the sun on day 2 and the staff could not have been more helpful - they cut fresh Aloe Vera on several occasions, brought gauze, ointment, helped us with our luggage and asked him about him every day. It was very thoughtful and helped make an otherwise quite difficult experience much easier. Despite the sunburn, I would not hesitate to recommend Tesguise as a charming place to visit and Palacio Ico as a wonderful place to stay.

There's no doubt this is a lovely, individual place to stay and we felt we made the right choice to book a room here. We found all the staff to be very friendly and the hotel has a relaxed feel about it. There is parking opposite but we had no problem finding a space in a nearby street on the few occasions when this was full. We were pleasantly surprised that the bottles of water in our room were replenished when we'd used them and having a fridge was very useful. Our room was very spacious and full of character but rather dark. This was partly due to the nature of the building but also because the rooms on the ground floor lack privacy which made us reluctant to fully draw back the curtains - a downside to being able to walk straight into the delightful courtyard. On reflection, we would have been better booking a room on the first floor. The hot water took several minutes to come through (we actually thought there wasn't any on our first night.) We really wanted to support the island's water conservation so it was frustrating to see gallons of water being wasted in the shower! Our towels didn't dry during the day (we resorted to hanging them over the cupboard door under the heater/AC when we came back in the evening.) Maybe this isn't a problem during the warmer months but again, we didn't want to ask for fresh towels when being asked to cut down on laundry to conserve water. Breakfast was generous and varied, with quality ingredients. The only drawback was it didn't start until 8.30am and took some time as the server was bringing out each table's meal. She does a great job, though and always noticed the order that people arrived. You may find you need to skip breakfast if driving to Timanfaya National Park. It really is essential to get there early! We ate in the restaurant on one occasion and had a mostly enjoyable meal. One issue - it was only after I'd made my choice of starter that the waitress immediately said they didn't have that item. I'd have understood if she'd found out when placing the order with the kitchen but if she knew, we should have been told when handed the menus. I made a quick decision to change to the squid but this was disappointingly tough and greasy. The rest of the meal and the overall experience was good, though. Overall, we came away feeling we'd had a lovely stay. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the courtyard in the early evening, even though we were wrapped up in fleeces and jackets! I honestly don't think there can be a more peaceful place to stay on Lanzarote. Teguise is lovely, too, and also a very convenient base for exploring the island.

My wife and I stayed in Room H7 for 12 days in Early October 2022. We were extremely happy with everything about Palacio Ico: the welcoming staff, beautiful hotel, our room (H7), the abundant daily breakfasts, evening restaurant service and convenient location in Teguise exceeded our expectations! Upon arrival at Palacio Ico, we were kindly welcomed by the owner of the hotel Sansole. She showed us our room and proudly explained the hotel's history and left us to relax after our long night and day travel from Boston to Lanzarote. We were made to feel very welcome! Sansole's staff members were equally warm and very friendly. Each morning at breakfast, either Irene or Sarah greeted us with "buenos dias" and brought us a breakfast spread which included ham, local cheeses, homemade fruit juice, freshly baked bread nicely toasted, fruit (at least five different kinds daily!), yogurt, muesli, jams, butter, cactus "honey" and of course the wonderful coffee drink "cafe con leche". After breakfast, they often recommended to us an itinerary of local sites to visit and of course their favorite beaches on the island. They certainly made us feel very special. Dinner at Palacio Ico Restaurant was equal to the high standards of the hotel. Locally sourced dishes were indeed a treat. Appetizers and entrees were delicious, as were the desserts. Local wines were served and accompanied our meals well. Retiring to a quiet and restful sleep every night ended our interesting days on Lanzarote! The hotel is centrally located in Teguise and within easy walking distance of many restaurants, shops, small local museums, a beautiful Catholic church (Saturday mass at 6:00 PM) and an adjacent town plaza. Sunday offers a huge outdoor market where clothing, artisanal items, music and food can be enjoyed, all within a 5-minute walk of Palacio Ico. We highly recommend a pleasant stay at Palacio Ico! We look forward to visiting Lanzarote again and staying with Sansole and her staff.
