The Tontine Hotel & Bar

I went to the Tontine last Saturday to celebrated my brother and his wife’s Golden Wedding anniversary. There were 22 of us that needed to be catered for and the staff made sure everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until we left. The food was incredible and nothing was too much trouble . Special thanks to Leanne who cooked the superb meal and to Dan who catered for our every need . I will definitely recommend

We have eaten here quite a few times recently. On each occasion it’s been great, the service is quick and friendly, the drinks reasonably priced, and the food has been excellent. There is a varied menu ranging from quick snacks to full pub type meals. All have been excellent, we often sit outside, and watch the world go by. It’s a great place to sit right opposite the famous Ironbridge.

The meal was disappointing. I had pizza and the waiter brought me a pizza cutter which would not cut through the crust. My knife would not cut through it either and I ended up pulling it apart. It was not very tasty. There was a lot of it though so you wouldn't leave hungry if you ate it all, which I didn't. Terry had what was listed as Chicken Supreme in a Diane sauce. Really? I've never seen Chicken Supreme or Dian sauce that was brown. It was edible but not great. The place looks tired and in need of refurbishment. The window frames outside are rotting which doesn't inspire you to go in but it was forecast heavy rain so we booked it as it was the nearest restaurant to our accommodation. would not be inclined to dine there again though. The waiter was friendly and helpful. We didn't complain as the meal was edible, just not of a very good standard.

Stopped for brunch. Delicious choices are available. Sandwiches were made fresh to order. Full of flavour and good quality produce. Coffee was lovely and hot Great service, too We chose to sit outside with lovely views of the Ironbridge, but seating also plentiful inside

Worth the walk down the hill with a dodgy knee! Warm welcome on arrival and then the best baked Brie & Beef Sunday Roast for a main course. Easy drinking with a bottle of the Rose Invenio and all round very pleasant way to spend a Sunday lunch with a fabulous view of Ironbridge. Will definitely be back & would recommend a visit to locals & visitors alike! 🤤

We went for lunch on 13/2/24 myself, my wife and 2 nieces. The place was grubby only one young woman in attendance at the bar, dealing with drinks and food orders, serving the food - she was run off her feet but helpful and apologetic and this review does not blame her for any of this poor review. We had to wait nearly one hour for our food which was simply 3 pizzas, one meatball pasta dish. An inexcusable amount of time for us to be kept waiting. When it arrived one of the pizzas was burnt, all 3 were greasy and poorly cooked. Eventually we were told that the 'chef' had arrived late but if he/she was actually the chef then clearly the hotel needs a new one! Dogs were allowed to wander around the room noisy and inappropriate and annoying for us and others. Surely in a restaurant pets should not be allowed. Altogether the hotel is a disgrace, where was the manager one wonders?
