With its back deck, grand picture windows, and sliding glass doors, it offers impressive panoramic ocean views, and the sights and sounds of the Maine coast will captivate you. Immediately to your left, the well-lit contemporary kitchen is nicely equipped with ample cupboard and counter space, all stainless major appliances, a microwave, a standard drip coffee maker, a Keurig, a toaster, toaster oven, and plenty of kitchen gadgets and cookware for whatever you decide to create. The dining room sits off the kitchen, which has a large wood dining table with seating for eight. While the large windows provide generous lighting there is also a chandelier above providing the perfect ambiance for an evening dinner with friends. It’s the ideal spot for laughing the night away over a wonderful Maine lobster dinner!Moving off the dining area into the living room with its vaulted ceiling, large windows, and retro decor invites you into this warm open space. However, we will do everything in our power to remedy any situation as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your understanding.Area Amenities:The Tenants Harbor General Store, is open daily, specializing in morning coffee and pastries, corn, blueberries, native lobsters, fresh-cut meats, firewood, and all grocery supplies. It is only a 10-minute walk, or bring your bike for riding the winding roads for the scenic ocean and island views. This is a pleasantly old and proud Maine community with its own library, school, and fire/rescue department. Knox County Sheriff's Office provides policing services. One-third of all Maine lobsters come from this county, named for General Henry Knox, George Washington's chief artillery officer in the Revolutionary War of 1776. You can learn about him on the peninsula, as well as enjoy programs offered all seasons at Montpelier, the Knox Mansion Museum, located just another few minutes in the nearby coastal town of Thomaston. Heading another 10 minutes down the St. George peninsula is Port Clyde, another fishing village. You will enjoy beautiful ocean views while enjoying an incredible meal on the wharf and delicious ice cream for dessert from the local ice cream shop. In the heart of Port Clyde, you will find adventure waiting for you. Whether it's visiting a local art gallery, enjoying a day on the ocean with the Wyeth by Water Lobster Boat tours, or the Monhegan Island ferry adventures to see Maine seabirds, including puffins and American bald eagles, spending the day at the local Drift-Inn beach or a picnic at Marshall Point Lighthouse; St. George has something for everyone. Here are some things you should know about visiting Maine:Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't have good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine.Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit for hot days to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at www.weather.com.Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them.Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has its own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. If they leave behind anything, please pick it up, it's not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend.Unwanted animals: You probably have them too, but raccoons and skunks can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided. Water: Starlight Deckhouse is not on public water supply. It has a well, with a water filtration system, and is tested regularly once a year. Particulates, discoloration, and iron taste are not uncommon.Starlight Deckhouse is a Saturday to Saturday rental year-round! This home comfortably sleeps 8 people. This sweet seaside cottage has everything you could want for a perfect relaxing getaway - you will feel like you're on the bow of the ship the ocean is so close. You can hear and see the sea from every room on the house; the first thing you will see when you open your eyes in the morning is the sea. There is a first floor master bedroom, with French doors that open onto the deck and an attached master bath. Sip your coffee on the deck and then take a walk on the miles of wooded trails right out the back door. This is the perfect place to come and sit, read and relax. Upstairs there are three additional bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with a full bed and one with two twin beds. There is another bathroom with a full bath tub. The kitchen is small but well appointed. The house is light filled and airy and designed to draw you to the view of the sea and the nature surrounding the house. You will see bald eagles (there's a nest near by), and osprey; you'll see lobster-fishing boats right out the window. If you need like a night out, Rockland and Camden (20 and 40 mins respectively) offer excellent dining options as well as galleries and shopping. We own the cottage next door as well (VRBO 174769), we occasionally rent them together for larger gatherings. Although there is a cottage next door, we constructed the new cottage to have excellent privacy. This property has been in my family for generations, we have brought our kids here for holidays and summers, they are growing up and we built this cottage in anticipation of the next generation! We hope you enjoy, and thank you for looking! Please feel free to email with questions, we know there are no reviews of this cottage yet, if you check out our other cottage you can see lots of reviews of us as hosts as well as of the location.About pets:Pets allowed: dogs (limit 2 total).About checkOut:Check out before 10:30 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 25.About events:Events allowed: family gatherings and weddings.Maximum event attendees: 25,Please ask about booking both cottages together.

The dock was damaged in a major ocean storm and has been deemed unsafe by the engineering team currently working on the design for a new wharf. While parts of it may still be visible and appear intact, it isn’t safe to use and is officially closed off. The current listing does not include the dock as an amenity. While a few of the photos do show it in the background, that wasn’t intended to suggest it’s accessible.
