"The room was long and narrow, oceanfront with an unbeatable sea view, perfect for watching the sunrise from inside. It was spotlessly clean, as per Japanese standards, though the bathroom was on the smaller side. The included dinner was fantastic, with varied dishes each of the two nights. The hotel has an ice machine, and you can borrow an ice bucket from the front desk. There's no outdoor onsen. Accessing the outdoors requires taking the elevator to the rooftop and walking from there. A beach is just a few hundred meters away, great for an evening stroll. Nearby convenience stores sold sparklers, which many young people were setting off on the beach. The hotel's shuttle bus requires advance booking, as it gets fully booked very quickly. A pick-up service is available from the JR station between 2 PM and 5 PM. If you miss this window, you'll need to take a taxi yourself (be aware of potential queues during peak hours). Walking from the JR station to the hotel is mostly downhill, but the return journey is uphill. Furthermore, the hotel's rooftop entrance can be a bit tricky to locate."

"Arriving in Atami from Tokyo in the afternoon, we were unfortunately caught in a heavy downpour. My wife and I found ourselves stranded at Atami Station. Our original plan was to have dinner first and then head to our accommodation once the rain eased, but it showed no signs of stopping. Everything you read in the reviews about the hotel's proprietress is absolutely true. She's Chinese and incredibly warm and hospitable. The proprietress couldn't reach us initially, so she went to great lengths, contacting my wife through Ctrip customer service, adding her on WeChat, and then personally driving to Atami Station to pick us up. We were genuinely, profoundly moved by her kindness! Upon arrival at the hotel, she enthusiastically introduced us to the hotel facilities and nearby attractions. She was incredibly thorough and passionate about it! Crucially, she cleared up all my questions about the 'Kinmedai Train,' which truly ensured our trip was seamless and perfect! The hotel room perfectly matched the photos. On a clear day, you can enjoy stunning views of the blue sky, white clouds, and the ocean. (I've included some photos!) I didn't get a chance to take many interior photos, but the tatami room was impressively spacious! Unfortunately, it was pouring rain again on our departure day back to Tokyo. The proprietress had her husband (a local who speaks a little Chinese) kindly drive us to the station. He was very friendly. The hotel offers excellent value for money! Highly, highly recommend!"

"The hotel was great, wonderful service, good food, nice staff overall, however, Fuua spa was a bit disappoint with no extra towels to use. I would suggest to bring a bottle of drinking water or you would have to purchase. We stayed in the mountain side because it was cheaper but the ocean view would be great. You can see ropeway going up and down on the mountain side. Bus runs for free between the station and the hotel every 20 minutes or so. No reservation needed. It’s right in front of McDonalds at the station. Bus is not large. I would suggest to get there a bit early if you want to sit with your company together. You have a half off ropeway discount in the card you get at the check in counter so don’t throw it away after check out the hotel :)"

"The room is large and extremely nice, all the required amenities are there. The view from the room balcony is magnificent, overseeing the beach . The unseen in the room is nice too, the temperature is just right . The free taxi service to and from station is very thoughtful and convenient. this is better than shuttle bus service which some hotels offer. The breakfast options are many with both western, Japanese, and even a bit of chinese."

"Hotel New Akao is a huge hotel. It was built quite many many years ago, we stayed at the older wing, so the room tends to be oldish, but well maintained and super clean. For the price we paid, one would expect 5 star facilities, at least a gym for morning workouts, but they did not have that. However, the meals (Dinner & breakfast) provided with the price is fantastic and wide spread. I guess its a onsen hotel so people tend to go there just for the hotel onsen which is great and nice. We do love the big buffet spread of meals. The room is old, if you prefer the rustic feel. There are no convenient store nearby so when it comes to hunger, you only have vending machine beer. We actually expected to have free flow of snacks and beer but it is only limited to very off peak timing when most people are out for their day trips. Again, we feel that the hefty price tag should at least provide that free beer, drinks and snacks all day and all night. Overall, we still love the experience staying in the hotel. A word of advice - avoid peak seasons like New Year, you will expect to queue up for meals :)"

"The food was so good! I was really moved. It is a seaside town. Unlimited seafood, freshly grilled and eaten, so great! There is a semi-open-air hot spring, which is very comfortable. I soaked in it twice a day, haha! The room is very spacious. It is a Japanese-Western style room for three people. In fact, it can also accommodate five people. The tatami is very spacious, more than enough to sleep three people."

"I don't know much about it, but it feels like a relic from the heyday of Atami, a place frequented by many Japanese tourists. It's not like there are few foreign guests, but it was interesting to see that the concierge staff were afraid to speak English. If you answer in English, they'll try to replace you with someone who speaks English well. Haha. Well, there wasn't anything particularly inconvenient because of that. The hotel has three public baths, including an open-air bath, and there's even karaoke in the pool. If you order dinner, you can get unlimited access to all kinds of alcoholic beverages at the buffet for an hour and a half. It felt like it was optimized for family trips and company seminar stays. Despite the many public baths, only one bath towel is provided per person. Please note that you will be charged for additional requests. Bottled water is not provided, so you have to use the vending machines, and the drinks from the vending machines are generally quite expensive. There are also massage chairs, but these are also charged. Maybe because the basic weekday accommodation fee is cheap, but it felt like it was covered by the facility usage fee. Still, I'm satisfied because the price is reasonable and it's convenient to use."

"The hotel is a Ibis/ Holiday Inn Express version of the Prince Hotel. It is no frills basic hotel with a great location. The breakfast is a simple chazuke dish with a drink. Check-in timing is inflexible but you can leave your luggage and explore the area a bit, not sure if Prince Hotel loyalty members get any special treatment. The room is basic and have everything you need with ensuite bathroom. The location is just a short walk from Atami Station and the Toyota Rental Car office. There is a car park but there are some restrictions over the timing etc."

"The check-in process is simple. You only need to enter the relevant information in advance to complete the check-in procedure smoothly. All rooms face the sea view, with first-class views The room is clean and well-equipped Instant hot water in the bathroom If I go to Atami again, I will definitely stay here again"

"Hotels services is good. The room is pretty big and tidy, feeling comfortable in it. Walk for 2-3mins to 7-11 or Lawson. Public onsen provides inside and outside experience. The only disappointed is there is a Group of HK people arrived, there is a man full of tatoo get in public onsen. I checked the rules at front door. It mentioned Tatoo is prohibited. This kind of stupid HK people is a shame for HK when they travel around in Japan. Dont understand the culture of Japan. No parking area for loading, Car parking needs to use next hotel, a bit inconvenience if you carrying few luggages. 🧳"
