"Review: 5-Star Hotel Stay – Mixed Experience. I recently stayed at this 5-star hotel Aug 2025, which, despite its grandeur, is showing its age at nearly a decade old. The property retains an elegant charm, but certain aspects left me with mixed feelings. Room and Cleanliness: The room was impressively spacious, a highlight of the stay, with a bit old decor and ample space to relax. However, the cleanliness was average at best. While the surfaces appeared tidy, there were noticeable signs of wear, and the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke was a major downside. I had specifically requested a non-smoking room through Trip.com and reiterated this during check-in, but was informed that no non-smoking rooms were available. As a gesture, the staff upgraded me to a higher-tier room, which I appreciated, but the cigarette odor was still strong, lingering in both the room and the hotel corridors. This was particularly disappointing for a 5-star property. Service Issue: To address the smoke smell, I called room service to request an air freshener. After waiting 30 minutes with no delivery, I had to call again. The second time, the staff promptly delivered it, which helped slightly, but the experience felt inconsistent with the hotel’s luxury branding. Amenities: On a positive note, the breakfast was exceptional—diverse, mix of local and International cuisine. The swimming pool was another highlight, well-maintained, and a relaxing spot to unwind with an indoor and outdoor scenic view. Overall: While the spacious rooms, fantastic breakfast, and nice pool were highlights, the cigarette smell and inconsistent service detracted from the experience. For a 5-star hotel, I expected better attention to cleanliness and guest requests. I’d recommend this hotel for its amenities but urge management to address the smoking issue and improve service responsiveness to truly meet 5-star standards. Rating: 3.5/5"

"The hotel location is really good and it is in Central Jakarta closed to the malls, Selamat Datang Monument, Monas (National Monument), Merdeka Square, National Museum and so on. If you want to use the public transport there are MH Thamrin Bus Station and Bundaran HI Bank DKI MRT Underground Station near the hotel. All staff are welcoming and they are willing to help. Among them, I encountered Agian who was above and beyond his duties. I will certainly choose to stay at Holiday Inn Express Wahid Hasyim again when I am in Jakarta in the future. Many Thanks."

"The hotel room was clean, comfortable, and reasonably spacious. It's conveniently located, and the hotel staff were friendly. Guests are required to provide a deposit of IDR 100,000 or leave their ID card as collateral. However, there were a few negatives: the towels were musty and had holes, the bathroom door couldn't be locked, and the room lighting was quite dim at night (though it was bright during the day thanks to an outward-facing window). During my 4-day, 3-night stay, there was a total power outage one midnight, leaving both the room and hotel corridor pitch dark for about 10 minutes."

"We took the family king room which is to accomodate 3 adults. Check in time was 3pm, we arrived at 3.45pm but was told the room was not ready. However the staff at the check in counter gave us a temporary room (king deluxe room)to rest while we wait for our room to be ready. At 5pm they call saying the room was ready and we will be transfered to the our room. After we moved, we went out for dinner. At 10pm we went back to our room and realized that the sofabed was not ready and no pillow or blanket for the third adult to sleep. I call the guest service, and they came to set up. But i dont know what happened, they said the sofabed was broken so it cannot be set up. They will bring in an extra bed instead. The extra bed made the room less space to move around. I booked the room with sofabed is because i prefer to close it in day time so i have much space to roam around the room. That night also, i called the engineering team to repair the shower head holder. Because it seems not to hold the shower head properly which makes it difficult to use. They came an fixed it. But the next day, it became broken loose again. I gave up and just let it be. I dont expect this kind of room facilities from grand hyatt a five star hotel in Jakarta. Please maintain your rooms better. The staffs are all very helpful and friendly. I appreciate and extremely happy for that."

"Double tree diponegoro is top notch hotel. Wonderful short staycation with family there. Just little suggestion, pls add more hanger to hang wet swimming clothes in bathroom. Else all are amazing."

"We stayed here for one night just to go Thamrin city, Tanah Abang and grand Indo. Really very nearby. There were quite a lot of food stalls around. Can be quite heavy in traffic but we didn’t mind. We took the Bajay around as a family and it was convenient to go nearby places. The rooms were so beautiful. Breakfast was very simple, just toast and a few main dishes. Would stay here again for the location."
