Mili B&B was the biggest surprise of this trip. The owners are a local, down-to-earth couple who are expecting a baby soon. Every evening, they'd join us for tea and a chat. A quote they shared, 'Why should a tiny speck of light fear competing with the bright moon?', was truly uplifting and helped us unwind. I've stayed in countless large hotels and upscale guesthouses, but Mili's comfort lies in its genuine human touch, feeling just like a gathering of old friends. It boasts a prime location, with the best coffee in Shaxi Ancient Town located right at its doorstep. Incredibly convenient and absolutely delightful!"

"This lovingly well managed boutique hotel stole our hearts the moment we stepped into the compound. Firstly, hospitality is at its best! Owner 潘姐 and her team are so welcoming and hospitable. We were so well taken care of throughout our two nights stay.
Hotel is located within minutes walk to Shaxi old town. Fresh fruits and flowers arrangement grace the halls & rooms daily, making it such a charming and cosy place for guests to enjoy. Rooms are superbly well appointed with modern amenities & well curated furnishings. Bed and pillows are so comfortable that we slept very well. Breakfast is wonderful and delicious and there’s always a plate of fresh fruits served to us in the afternoons. Throughout the hotel, we see beautiful collection of Yunnan decorative ornaments well put together by Sister Pan. She is someone who puts in heart and soul into managing this boutique hotel & caring for her guests. We enjoyed our delightful conversations and were gifted a guide book of Yunnan authored by her husband董增旭.

"I booked this on a friend's recommendation. I went to Shaxi to experience the local culture and customs, so I loved this courtyard-style B&B, built in the style of traditional Bai ethnic minority dwellings! This local couple runs a local business, a place that doubles as a guesthouse and home. The owner and hostess were incredibly welcoming, helping with our luggage and asking about our well-being. It felt like home. They even have a cute and affectionate Border Collie who plays Frisbee with guests! The best part about the inn is the tranquil environment, with gurgling water, chirping birds, and fragrant flowers—it's so relaxing! You could always see the hostess busy cleaning and putting things away, and the cleanliness was impeccable! There's also their own parking lot right outside the door, a laundry terrace, and an audio-visual entertainment room—everything is included. Overall, for this price range, this inn is absolutely highly recommended!"

"The two landlords have super nice personalities! ! ! A lady showed us around all the available rooms when we checked in (we were so attracted by the corridor on the second floor that we immediately changed from a twin room to two double rooms hhhhhh), and another lady also asked about our stay experience very considerately before we checked out;
The room decoration is also unique. Each room is named after a painter. A representative work of each painter and works of the same style are placed at the head of the bed. Many of the oil paintings should be painted by themselves.
The room is equipped with floor heating and electric blankets, which makes it super warm to sleep at night~
After packing the luggage, Doujiang came to the room for a ”patrol”, probably to help see if there was anything left behind. Little fat cat, you don’t even have to work (jealous)! ! !

"The inn is very beautiful, it is a 100 year old house, at the center of the town so it is very convenient to go visit all places. The owner is also very helpful, he helped pick up/deliver our luggages to the street where we got dropped off/departed. He also helped us to reserve seats for shared car to the next destination and answered any questions that we have (via translation apps or wechat). Everyone in the inn is friendly, highly recommended for staying in Shaxi."

To create this balance, the original roof was lifted. Then, modern bathrooms with all amenities were installed. All the while, the finish of the wooden furniture reflects the history of the Bai people. The furniture itself was designed with clean lines to give them a modern feel. Each room lets in beautiful natural lighting alongside meticulous wood or granite flooring.
"I highly recommend staying at this guesthouse in Shaxi. The small courtyard is very cozy. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were incredibly warm and friendly.
**Facilities:** They provide a Dyson hairdryer, and there's a separate tea room in the middle of the guesthouse, perfect for relaxing. You can sit there, enjoy some tea, and take in the view of the small alley outside the window – it's incredibly peaceful and pleasant.
**Cleanliness:** Very good.
**Ambiance:** Excellent.
**Service:** The day before check-in, they call to confirm your arrival time and even pick you up from outside the scenic area to take you to the guesthouse. They greet you warmly every time you come and go, and are extremely helpful and enthusiastic when answering questions about local attractions."

"It was a great experience. When I was about to leave, I was pleasantly surprised to learn from other guests that this is the inn where Liu Yifei and Li Xian lived! There were mentions of the Dragon Boat Festival rice dumplings we ate, and folk songs played and sung by the boss. All the staff in the inn are super lovely people."

"The room was very nice and clean. We brought our children with us and they were a bit noisy. The owner was very patient and took extra care of us.
It was a little quiet at night and we were next to the block at 9 o'clock.
The area next to the hotel was also very beautiful, suitable for bringing children to get close to nature.
Finally, we cooked a meal in the hotel.
The owner generously agreed, although we didn't clean up well afterwards.
In short, it was a very pleasant stay.

"The location is very good, the front door is about 20 meters from the parking lot, the back door is about 20 meters from Sideng Street, and supermarkets and restaurants are very close. The room is big enough, with plenty of space to store luggage and hang clothes. Clothes can be hung on the roof. The housekeeping is very good and responsive to requests, and there are enough bottled water pipes. The shopkeepers are kind and gentle. By the way, the yard is very beautiful. You can take a rest, drink tea and chat, but you forgot to take photos."

GGuest UserThe host and hostess are very friendly and consider everything for you in advance. When they learned that I had trouble sleeping, they offered to move to the second floor. The room I am currently staying in was also upgraded for free. Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and they even sent a small piece of cake to my room. Considering that I was alone, when I suggested having dinner here, the hostess readily invited me to have dinner together without charging any fees. The food was very clean and delicious.
The room is very comfortable, allowing me to drink tea and read books in the room at ease. Enjoy some undisturbed time.
I am happy to recommend it to my friends. This is the meaning of B&B: full of warmth and human touch.

MM659426****This is my second time coming to Yunnan this year. Among the hotels I have stayed in these few times, this hotel is the one that surprised me the most. When I first entered, I saw a very special earthen wall. The boss explained that it was during the renovation. It was specially constructed using the traditional rammed earth construction method. I checked online and found out that this construction method is very time-consuming and no one is willing to build it anymore. Unexpectedly, I saw their bathroom equipment in a new hotel. It turns out that there are dry and wet separated rooms, and even teapots and cups have special sterilization cabinets. Each room has a small balcony, which is perfect for watching the sunset in the evening. If you are too lazy to go out at night, the hotel also has different types of dinners to choose from. I am a lazy person, so of course I am in the hotel. I ate, drank, and waited until I finished eating before I thought about it. I forgot to take pictures. 😭 Home-cooked food but with a Western-style presentation. It tasted delicious and upgraded, but there are no pictures. The next morning, I ate their American breakfast bread and three kinds of jams, all of which were made by the proprietress herself. Especially Mango Jam This is the first time I have tasted mango pulp👍. Unfortunately, I only booked one night here this time. I have booked other hotels for the next day, but next time I come to Shaxi, I will stay in this hotel with clean environment and quiet accommodation. You can sit on the balcony of your room and watch the sunset)👍👍👍

GGuest UserThe breakfast made by the proprietress is very delicious and authentic. The entire courtyard is neat, clean and refreshing. The room facilities are very thoughtful and complete. I really love the decoration style, which makes the entire accommodation experience extremely comfortable. I stayed for one night and couldn't help but extend it for another. It is really the most thoughtful and beautiful B&B I have ever stayed in. The owner also thoughtfully sent me and my child to the ancient city to do handicrafts. Our room had a living area on the side and traveling with my 2 girls 10 & 12, this was good space.
We love how centrally located the place was from the mainstreet where all resturants and shops were.
This is a very small and quaint ancient town compared to the ones in DALI, LIJIANG etc. All ancient towns will have at least 2 exits (sometimes 4)
Like, we can go for a walk and come back to use the bathroom and head back out again to the other direction. I feel safe to let my kids navigate their way round on their own and send them out to buy their own food to come back to the shared courtyard in our property to eat.
They even have some toys for toddlers up onthe second floor where there is a seating area. you can do your laundry here and dry it and being in a dryer climate. clothes tend to dry really fast.
I will come back again to this property if we visit Shaxi Zhen again. The town is so charming property easily accessed.

GGuest UserThough not spacious, the room's true appeal lies in its exquisite cleanliness and rustic elegance. Its charm is such that every passerby would be curious to explore. We were particularly impressed that this guesthouse, opened in 2017, is still so impeccably maintained. Rooms were in high demand, so we only managed to secure a booking for one night. From the rooms to the courtyard and the second-floor balcony, thoughtful design is evident everywhere. The breakfast Er'si noodles were absolutely delicious, easily as good as (if not better than) those from a restaurant. Enjoying the complimentary ripe Pu-erh tea with my daughter on the balcony was incredibly pleasant and relaxing. Shaxi Ancient Town itself captivated me; I absolutely adored its rustic and authentic charm.

GGuest UserFuxi Shanhai is such a wonderful stay!! We had a beautiful room and they upgraded us to a bigger room because of availability. The location is great, just a few minutes walking distance from Shaxi old town roads, but also very quiet. The best part of our stay was the host, who was a very friendly and hospitable man (who was previously a martial arts practitioner in Beijing). He treated us like family, and went above and beyond to also help us coordinate transportation to our next destination and get in contact with the hotel manager of our next destination to come pick us up and show us how to get there. In the rabbit warren cobblestone roads of Old Dali, it would have been impossible to find without his help and coordination. I highly recommend staying here when you come to Shaxi.

YYH_2023To start with, Shaxi is such a precious jewel. The historic preservation collaboration between ETH and Chinese scholars and the locals is impressive. The harmony formed by the nature and the man-made environment is incredible. We wish we had more time to stay and dive deeper.
And we absolutely loved our stay at the Flower Inn. It’s really close to the core of the town yet very quiet and peaceful. The garden is meticulously cared for. The most special is an impressive 2-story library housing the owners’ personal book collections. They recently opened the library to the community a few days a week - a generous way to share knowledge and wisdom, and bring the community closer together.
The owners are very warm, interested in making friends and sharing their experience. I really enjoyed an evening chat with them and listening to the stories about the town’s history, preservation, local lifestyles and much more.
We would love to come back to Shaxi in the future and stay at the Flower Inn again.

Picture 1 shows the view from the guest room—beautiful! It's incredibly clean! Picture 3 shows the courtyard—amazing! You can even see the stars at night! Pictures 2 and 4 show the lobby—beautiful and clean! You can even have a drink and chat with the owner and his lovely wife! I'll definitely be back!!!

ZZaidalideyinianLocation: Very close to the entrance to the ancient town, with convenient parking. The alley is quiet and within easy walking distance of the nearby snack street. I love Shaxi Ancient Town's leisurely pace and have enjoyed it several times. Staying here was a real win.
Environment: While the courtyard isn't large, it's well-maintained. There's a small garden on the first floor and a pavilion on the second. Sitting on the small terrace on the second floor, gazing at the mountains and listening to the breeze is an ideal getaway. This is the rhythm of life in Shaxi.
Room Facilities: The overall atmosphere is very comfortable. The house seems to have been renovated from an old local house. The room features solid wood tables and chairs, modern furniture, and comfortable bedding. They provide drip coffee, and the minibar is well-stocked. The breakfast is also quite varied.
Service: The hotel staff communicated promptly with relevant information. The owner said he had been visiting Yunnan for several years and finally settled in Shaxi. It is truly a perfect place for a relaxing vacation.
