Best Hotels near Hohenburg, Innsbruck-Igls

The Alphotel Innsbruck is probably the worst hotel we've ever stayed at! But we had no choice since we were on a tour package and this was the hotel that Gate1 chose for our itinerary. We weren't the only tour members who did not have a good stay at this hotel. Our tour group had a long day and we were scheduled to arrive late so we were all pretty tired when we arrived. Unfortunately the room we were assigned to didn't even look or feel exceptionally clean and I'm surprised I didn't take photos of the room! Comparing posted photos of the rooms on TA our room looked much older and didn't even have a real chair, but only one of those small round ottomans. And that ottoman was dirty and stained, so we didn't want to sit on that! The bedspread had that ”ick” factor, so we removed it but at least the sheets were clean. Carpet looked grungy so we made sure to wear our slippers and not walk barefoot on it. Regret not taking pictures of the room now. We've stayed at hotels with older or ”tired” decor but they were at least neat and clean, but not at this hotel! Now the ”fun” part was our bathroom door. I was getting ready to take a shower and went into the bathroom, but wanted to use my own soap and toiletries, so I went out of the bathroom and my husband (who was standing in front of the bathroom, looking at the closet or something right across from the bathroom) shut the opaque glass bathroom door. I went back to the bathroom and tried to open the door and it was locked! It was one of those simple privacy type locks where there's usually a pinhole that you can usually press and it'll pop open. Unfortunately, there was no pinhole but a screw so I tried twisting the screw but the door remained locked. Husband tried but it kept turning and he didn't have any tools so he called the front desk and they sent the maintenance guy up. The maintenance guy looked at the door and tried twisting the screw with the same results and said he needed to go get his tools. He returned with his small toolbox and tried several screwdrivers, with no luck. Then he tried using a small drill to remove the screw and still couldn't get the door unlocked. Meanwhile, we were sitting on the bed and watching tv since there was nothing else we could do. I texted our friends who were also traveling in the tour group and assigned to the room right next door to let them know what was happening. And to apologize to them for the loud racket, as the maintenance guy went and got his large power drill and was basically removing the entire door knob and panel. So the guy had to destroy the whole door knob panel because the door lock screw or nut inside the panel was probably stripped and couldn't unlock or open the door; so if I was on the other side of the door I would have been stuck in the bathroom! It was sooo disappointing! To think that you were arriving at a respectable accommodation to find that they did not even have bell service. We arrived with our luggage and there was no one to help with it, our car service fortunately helped out, and then it was further downward from there. Every single item of request was a disappointment! Everything was answered with ”we simply do not have people to do the required service!” Not something one wants to hear while on vacation, paying full fee for a supposedly established place to stay.

Driving from Italy to Innsbruck, the city is not big, the hotel is on the edge of the airport, looking for the hotel entrance to open the second car has not seen, and finally found a lot of steps in the lobby, the door to the elevator is locked You can only take heavy luggage to the hotel lobby, and the free parking lot is across the road. The room is OK, the breakfast is not bad.

Hotel Goldener Engl is situated in the centre of Hall in Tirol, a beautiful historical town surrounded by majestic mountains of the Alps in the vicinity of Innsbruck - just 10 minutes ride with S-Bahn. The building of the hotel is a historical castle and is a member of historic hotels of Europe. I was greeted by a very welcoming, friendly, kind, helpful and professional staff. The check-in process was very quick and smooth also thanks to an option to fill in the information online, prior to arrival. I was lucky enough to get the best suite in the hotel which was a beautiful, spacious, attic rustic room equipped with a big relaxing bath tube as well es a sauna directly in the room, separated toilet and a bathroom, comfortable bed and soundproof wall isolation. I was on a business trip and found it very relaxing hearing the raindrops on the attic windows in a pleasantly heated room and having a possibility of using a private sauna after a tiring day. This room is like your energizing oasis relaxing and refreshing your mind, body and soul. After a good sleep in a big and comfortable bed I enjoyed a tasteful tirol breakfast with individual serving and plentiful choice keeping me satiated until the afternoon. The public transport connections are very good, easy and punctual. The hotel has its own very good restaurant but there are good restaurants within a walking distance from the hotel too. The centre of Hall in Tirol is a small historic and picturesque one with winding streets and traditional small handicraft shops. I travelled to Hall in Tirol in the middle of November and my experience was exceptional. I felt like a queen in my unique hotel room and after my three night stay I did not really want to check out. :-) It surely was one of the best and unforgettable hotel stays I experienced until now and I will be very happy to come back again. This was a very comfortable stay, beautiful room, spotlessly clean. Good food. Very friendly, helpful staff, especially Frau Seixner. I was unwell while there and she came personally to see how I was and whether I wanted a hot drink/ something to eat, etc. Nothing was too much trouble for this warm and welcoming staff. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Was hoping for so much better. We were on a Trafalgar Tour and stayed at this hotel on December 13, 2023. We were told it would be a 5 star hotel. First thing that happened was they lost our (and many others in our group) luggage. I asked at the front desk and they said ”We have never had problems getting luggage to the proper rooms. It's your tour operator's problem, there's nothing we can do further. After 2 hours our luggage still hadn't shown up. Went to reception, and another Trafalgar guest was there, who's luggage was also lost. Finally they had someone from reception go to the tour's rooms. Our luggage was found, however, the other guest's luggage was still missing. Our tour director went room to room (not just our tour's rooms, but EVERY room starting on the first floor.) and finally found their luggage in the 37th room she checked. It was an empty room with nobody staying there. Then, I found there was no remote for the TV or extra pillows. Requested them at front desk. They were delivered to my room, but the pillows were terribly mismatched. Carpet was stained and somewhat dirty. At our evening meal, they wanted to charge my wife extra for a refill on her soda/pop. Overall, this was the low-lite hotel in our tour. Not worth the money they charged our tour. Their customer/front desk service was bad, at best. Most Reception persons had a bad ”attitude”. Would never stay here again.

We booked a Panorama Deluxe room for 3 nights, checking in on Sept. 20th. The property is centrally located along the train station and features a parking directly connected by elevator. The “piece de resistance” of this tall building is clearly its stunning view on the town and surrounding mountains. We were lodged in room 1104 on the 11.th floor which is the top floor featuring rooms, as the 12th accommodates the lounge/restaurant where breakfast is also served. Curiously, the hotel doesn’t have a lobby in a traditional sense: the concierge & cashier counter can be found in a small separate office on the basement and the elevators to the rooms are located in a small hall, across a glass door, which opens directly on Brunecker Street. Access security to the floors being managed by room key-card, you can enter/exit the property and the parking with no contact to any staff at all. Our room was a corner one, rather large, beautifully architected and nicely furnished in a contemporary metropolitan style. From virtually any point of the room (bathroom included) it was possible to spot some additional detail of the stunning panorama. The room was comfortable and quiet (in spite of the near busy train station), breakfast was good and we definitively had a very good time here in Innsbruck.

We stayed for one night whilst travelling from Germany to our ski resort in Austria, with 2 children. The hotel was very easy to find, nice and modern and the rooms were very good value (we got 2 connecting rooms ). It is perfect for a quick stop overnight. Breakfast was simple but there was a good choice and it was a nice way to start the day for our onward journey the following morning. There are vending machines but otherwise nowhere for evening food/snacks. We wanted something quick and easy and did not want a full sit down meal in a restaurant in town so it would have been good to have a bit of something on offer, like pizza, in the evening. But it was a quick drive into town and we soon found something. There is a supermarket next door (it was closed when we were there, as we arrived in the evening)) and a nearby petrol station. There was ample parking in the downstairs garage for 8.50 euro a night, and plenty of electric chargers available for electric cars. Would definitely stay there again if needing an overnight stay en route.
