Beautiful place, surrounded with well kept nature. The accommodation great for self catering, with bigger rooms, lounges and kitchens. There are lot of outdoor activities, my favorite was horse riding.

On the 9th August to 12 August 2024 me and my friends visited Midlands Saddle. Huuu what a wonderful and enjoyable trip. From the gate to the receptionist the staff were very nice. At the receptionist we met Songezo, a very polite, calm and down to earth guy. We were group of 8, not knowing that we were suppose to call the resort to inform them about our group, our rooms were far from each other but with the help of Songezo he manage to put us close to each other. thank you very much Mr, you really make our stay to be a memorable one. We also met Dhayniska, an Indian lady with a heart of gold. She offered herself to take us photos with her own beautiful phone and show us some of the beautiful place around the resort. Rooms were very clean and neat. thank you very much Midlands Saddle, surely I will encourage other friends and family to visit your resort.

We booked a family getaway for all 12 of us and were given very spacious units. The one house had a 2 bedroom unit and 1 bedroom unit. No doubt value for money but a few things need attention which I will come back to. Firstly it's such a safe getaway for families with little children and the elderly It's flat no stairs and easily accessible your vehicle Parks right outside your door and safety wise we felt they were up to mark. Property is vast well kept and maintained. Breath taking views of valleys and scenery. The resort has tarred road and kept very well. Horses easily visible and the rides for kids were very safe and reasonable. Staff here very friendly and helpful. I used the la vita spa on premises that was a great experience. Resturant not quite up to scratch I ordered veg pasta could have been better. The units need attention here and there. In our shower the light was left open with no cover. The shower hole had no stainless steel grate to cover it. That was not good very slippery. Towels were often damp and no all were of good quality. House keeping need to be supervised they do not work systematically. All in all a very enjoyable weekend.

On Saturday 3/9/22, Myself and My wife booked to spend the night at Saddle & Trout, when we arrived we were greeted politely by the reception staff and given our room keys etc. We arrived at your unit - no 26B and from outside we could already hear the loud noise of screaming children. As we entered the unit, we realized that the unit were inter leading units with very poorly sound proofed doors and that the screaming was actually our neighbours children. The noise was now inside our unit. It was NOT a dull background noise, we could hear every word they were saying as well as the intense high pitched screaming of little children!!!! No where on the website does it mention inter leading units or a TOTAL lack of privacy, and after a long day one just wants peace, quiet and scerenity… or at least expects it when looking at what is portrayed on your website. We did a U turn and went straight back to reception and asked for a refund, they phoned the manager and he said I should wait for him as he will come discuss the matter it with me. 15 minutes later I was still waiting for him! I asked reception to pls call him again which they did, 5 mins later he arrived. I explained the situation and he advised that he would not refund my money but rather give me a credit note which I definitely didn’t want, he stood infront of me trying to intimidate me and after a while he said he would speak to the accounts on Monday and sort it out. He promised to call me first thing on Monday morning. I’m still waiting for the call and have left multiple messages for him to call me which have gone unanswered. As I drove out a child was riding his scooter in the parking lot and nearly got run over by me - it’s like a crèche with no controls!! I really don’t appreciate some young guy who is supposed to be managing a resort to treat me like this.

Our stay at the resort was absolutely disappointing. The only pleasant experience was the view .Staff at reception were rude and non compliant . There was an issue with the supply of water and we were not notified of this upon our arrival. Candes were supplied as there was loadshedding twice every evening but no matches given .The rooms need to be cleaned thoroughly Blanket was stained . Socket for the use of the kettle was loose and not fixed to the wall . This is not safe. Toilet leaked and although the maintenance staff attempted to fix it , the problem was not resolved . There was no wifi throughout our stay . This place needs a major upheaval.

On a scale of 0-5 with 5 being excellent: Cleanliness: 2 Manager interaction: 1 Restaurant food quality: 4 Restaurant Management: 1 Location: 5 Chalet Setup: 4 Activities available: 4 Staff interaction: 4 The chalets were spacious yet not cleaned well (sheets weren't changed on arrival, floors and outside furniture were very dusty). A deep clean is needed. Could definitely do with a revamp but I think expected for a 3 star place. The food was good at the restaurant but it's poorly run as it's usually understaffed and items (eg: Still water) aren't available. The Sunday breakfast took over an hour to get to us. The managers are mostly unheard and unseen. My single interaction with one was unhelpful and discourteous. Activities available are good for families but need to be paid for (eg: Foosball, adventure golf, table tennis). The lady who ran the games made the stay bearable as she was courteous, patient and kind. Overall the stay was disappointing and I wont be back unless there are major leadership changes.
