At first we thought it is not that far from the city center. But, the experience we had with transportation was horrible,making the location not ideal. If you are with a car there is not much of an issue.

We arrived at this hotel and we could not believe our eyes! The building is an old convent/monastery and the rooms have all been modernised with very colourful furniture and decorated in a very unique way! The room and bathroom were quite large and they were very clean and well maintained. There is a nearby terrace on the first floor next to the rooms where you can see Florence in the distance and also the gardens, patio and olive garden that surround the hotel. The breakfast had some hot dishes and also cakes, cereals, hot drinks, croissants and so on. The staff was very nice and helpful. There is a free big parking space. I would definitely reccomend this hotel as it’s in a lovely quiet area, but also not far from the village and Florence.

Reasonable pricing for the room. Great location, nice room. Bathroom was modern, but toilet could have been cleaner. Good Wifi. Rooms are on the 1st floor and fyi there are no elevators. Nice old building. There is a pool. Great views. Nice dinner menu, but service was a bit slow, and it was a bit expensive. Car parking available. And you will need a car to get to the location. Nice breakfast, including hot food , scrambled eggs, bacon. Though coffee was from an automatic machine which was a bit disappointing. English was not an issue. Major CC accepted. As I be said, it was OK.

I have several points regarding the service that I find unsatisfactory and unacceptable but my main comment would be to look carefully at the receipts given. Very frustrating to end up a bad meal with so called “mistakes” in the check. Ridiculous to try to charge 1.5 times more for a bottle of wine and saying there is a price mistake in their own menu.

Villa Castiglione is located on one of the hills surrounding Florence, it is a peaceful and quiet place surrounded by villas and vines. Converted monastery now features artistically decorated interiors. Rooms are just spacious enough for a lovely stay, with ensuite modern bathroom. It is as seen on photos, clean and the staff speak English - even though they appear a bit slow and bored, they were friendly and very helpful, as well as offering advice on travel. Parking is free on the premises but be prepared for narrow windy road to reach the place. Breakfast has enough variety, but don't expect healthy options, it is generally pastries, yoghurt, cereal and eggs. Great coffee, as this is Italy, of course. Dinner is officially served from 7.30 but nobody started serving until 8pm and the menu is rather limited, lacking simple options for tired travellers such as soup or salad - and it was expensive, considering value for money. All in all, this was a great find and we can recommend the Villa.

Contrary to the other reviews I’ve read about this place, we had a very pleasant stay. Check in was easy, friendly and quick. We stayed in room 6… very spacious and clean… and obviously with the shocking gold bed post and accessories :) Pool was very nice, few mosquitoes but it’s the same in Florence / Italy during the summer. Definitely need a car to stay here… we used it as our last stop before the airport having previously visited Florence at the start. Nice stay, would recommend.

My wife and I spent one night at Villa Castiglione on our way back to France. The room was basic yet very comfortable. We ate our evening meal at Villa Castiglione with my wife having the duck breast and I had the beef filet. Both meals were excellent and the wine suggested by our server was perfect for our meal. The stay included breakfast and it was wonderful. There were choices of croissants, cereals, toast, cheese, prosciutto, clementines, yogurt and three different kinds of juices. The server made us cafe au laits and they were great as well. I definitely recommend a stay at Villa Castiglione.
