Find the Cheap Ilmenau Hotels

Service and booking was nice and class friendly, competent staff. Very helpful. Rooms were clean and well equipped, breakfast was sufficient and well provided. We brought our cat with, there were no problems. We also asked for a quiet room and got one about the breakfast room, which was perfect. It was always nice.

Fantastic hotel, with exceptionally good food (I ate breakfast and dinner), friendly staff, generously sized rooms and convenient below-ground parking. A ironing room is available for use, and the staff were only too happy to help. The only thing missing from the bedroom was a kettle - a shame, as the restaurant stopped making hot drinks early in the evening. Will definitely stay here again!

We had booked 5 days in a superior double room because the photos on the hotel's homepage and the reviews on TripAdvisor were promising. So we arrived with great expectations, but unfortunately left with mixed feelings. First the good: The staff is very friendly, the breakfast left nothing to be desired, the sauna area is enormous, the beds are comfortable and everything is very clean. We were dissatisfied: It was only when we checked in that we realized that our room was not in the historic building shown everywhere (there are only suites here), but in the outdated annex from the post-reunification period. The superior double room (under the roof, you have to like sloping ceilings) is very simple and annoyingly impractical: the sleeping area is very small due to the subsequent installation of a shower in the bathroom, and the reading lamps on the bed are mounted in such a way that you hit your head on them , the seating area was uncomfortable, there was no fridge and there was only minimal storage space in the bathroom, which was obviously designed by craftsmen and was cold when we arrived. In the “vital area” of the sauna we missed a bowl of fruit. We were really annoyed about the full body massage. It took place in an oversized, carelessly furnished and, above all, cold room, where we had to lie on our stomachs for 55 minutes despite being asked. After having dinner twice, we avoided the restaurant, which was evocatively named ”Hirtenwiese” but was nevertheless furnished in an anonymous, uniform style, preferring to enjoy the local cuisine in Ilmenau, Gotha and Arnstadt. At breakfast we were surprised that dairy dishes, cheese and juices were served so cold that you basically couldn't taste anything. Maybe these are all just small things, but overall they are not appropriate for a hotel with this standard and price. What left us really disappointed was that the owners had no knack for design (see above). It fits that the entrance stairs are currently being rebuilt in the style of an allotment garden with cheap concrete blocks (porphyry is typical for the area), the meadow in front of the hotel is filled with countless stalls and the new parking lot is completely without trees or other plants (while the only wall decoration is in the room is a poster that encourages the guest to act ecologically). A pity!

Hard to know what exactly to say about the panorama hotel. It’s worn pretty much everywhere. Rooms are small and if you’re here in the summer time you’ll never escape the scorching heat as the windows only open slightly for safety reasons. There’s no ventilation in the bathrooms so if you do decide to use the pool, your swimwear will never dry. Our toilet was clogged and required service so we couldn’t use it for an hour and a half. Bit annoying staying on the 9th floor with two small kids and having to travel to the basement for toilet use. There are no mini fridges in the rooms which is also a bit annoying when it’s 34 degree Celsius The pool is hot - so don’t expect to cool off on a hot day. The pool changing areas are newly renovated and nice but also lacks ventilation. Restaurant is good - buffet is solid well made German food. The play areas are good but again hot, even if it’s only 20 degrees outside

Wir waren nach ca. 8 Jahren wieder hier. Leider hat sich in dieser Zeit nicht viel zum Positiven geändert. Wir hatten ein Apartment gemietet. Es ist großzügig geschnitte, hat jedoch noch einen original DDR-Charme. Steckdosen, Wände, Deko... Die Schränke im Flur waren obenauf sehr verstaubt, im Wohnzimmer die Schrankwand ebenso. D.h. es ware erstmal putzen angesagt. Der Kühlschrank macht ein Geräusch wie ein Panzer - vielleicht war es einer im Miniformat. Einige BAlkongeländer sind dermaßen marode, dass man bereits vom Parkplatz aus sieht, dass sie bald abstürzen. Das Frühstücks- und Abendbuffett sind ok, jedoch nicht gerade abwechslungsreich oder geschmacklich anspruchsvoll. Naja, die Käche sollten vielleicht mal neuere Rezeptbücher studieren. Das Hotel ist ja immer sehr gut ausgebucht. sogar von Spitzensportlern zum Training auf den nahen Sprungschanzen, Langlaufhalle, etc. Da wundert es mich schon, dass man kein Personal zur Reinigung findet oder Ideen für die Speisekarte entwickeln kann. Die Bar war dagegen super! Das Personal weitestgehend nett - nur die Hotelmanagerin ist recht unwirsch und barsch. Wir kommen definitiv nun nicht wieder hierher. Insgesamt auch preislich total überpreist für diesen Service, Speisen und in die Jahre gekommene Zimmer.
