Our stay at Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá was absolutely incredible — truly a five-star experience from start to finish. The atmosphere, views, and attention to detail made every moment feel special. A special shoutout to our housekeeper, who was absolutely amazing! The room was always spotless and beautifully arranged, with thoughtful touches that made us feel pampered. And the breakfast? Outta this world! Every dish was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented — the best way to start each day. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back!

Excellent experience over all. Very intimate and quiet, even with a full hotel. The visual experience and outdoor vibe of the hotel is surprisingly much better than advertised. Very elegant, well thought out, quiet, intimate and serene. The room's are fairly small (we did get the most inexpensive as the price is just to much to justify per day vs what you get) but thankfully were blessed with a beautiful view of the ocean. We were on the 3rd floor centered (#314) over the pool. MUCH preferred rather than the far right of the hotel which was the fear. The bathroom was huge with a unique design that isn't advertised. Cleanliness was excellent over all with only the standard wear and tear that is obvious for a hotel that isn't new. Service over all was excellent. Staff was consistent with there welcoming attitude and eagerness to help and all with a constant smile and generous attitude. Celebrated a birthday and was greeted with champagne and treats as a surprise in the bedroom and hand written notes, a lovely touch. Experienced a movie night out by/over the lap pool which was a wonderful surprise we quite enjoyed as well, even though we were not aware of it being on any schedule. Guests kept to themselves over all which was very nice, no loud kids or nosy tourist types which we appreciated. Not sure we'll return given the over all price of the hotel but the experience was excellent when considering everything.

What a wonderful stay at the Gran Melia Hotel de Mar. Such a relaxing setting with stunning views of the sea. The suites were modern and felt like pure luxury. We especially loved the bathroom. Super spacious with a waterfall shower and double sinks. We loved the views of the ocean from the balcony. The gym was modern and well equipped. We only ate breakfast at the hotel which was outstanding..Jostin the chef making my sons eggs sunny side up.. perfect! The surrounding restaurants were excellent and an easy walking distance. I would book this hotel if you are looking for full relaxation, no fighting over sunbeds. The beautiful gardens and views are set up for peace and quiet and complete indulgent relaxation. We have stayed at several Melia hotels and what separates this hotel was the quality of the service. Just a completely higher level. Very hard working, very friendly and attentive staff. I Was very impressed. Will definitely return.

incredible hotel, beautiful views, amazing facilities, breakfasts to die for and service off the charts. Including taking our dirty beach towels from the car and giving us fresh ones every day, to lending us umbrellas for the unexpected rain. All the staff were charming, went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating.

The Gran Melia sits on a truly beautiful, "luxury" property with stunning views. Unfortunately, the room quality and service execution were not up to the standard expected for a $4,000 five-night stay. The Good: The breakfast buffet and menu items were excellent. The property and grounds are breathtaking. The Issues: Serious Shower Problems: The water pressure was consistently low, and the temperature violently fluctuated between cool and hot every 30 seconds. We and multiple other guests on our floor experienced this. The manager's response of "we’ll send someone to look at it" felt dismissive and treated guests as gullible, as this is clearly a systemic plumbing issue, not a quick maintenance fix. Slippery Bathroom: The polished marble bathroom floor and shower are dangerously slippery. When we requested a rubber mat, we were told they would "spray the shower to make it less slippery"—another unhelpful and insulting response. Understaffed Breakfast Service: While the food was great, the dining room was significantly understaffed (by at least two people). The existing team worked hard but could not keep up, resulting in persistent delays for coffee refills and prepared food orders every morning. Worn Mattress: Our mattress was clearly overused, showing a noticeable sag/indentation and a subpar firmness level (I'd rate it 6/10). When paying a premium price, you expect excellence and a basic amenity like a reliable hot shower. This hotel failed to deliver on those expectations.
