Room was not clean. Specifically: - An insect on the bedsheets - Stains on the pillowcase, apparently fresh as they were still glistening - Inner duvet was filthy with various dust, hairs and stains - ***** hairs in the shower tray - Mouldy shower head - Many small flies stuck to the bathroom ceiling - Loose dirt on the bathmat No staff were available during the night to address these issues. No apology was offered in the morning and my concerns were dismissed. I cut short my stay and will not book this hotel again. Two stars, rather than one, because the member of staff who welcomed me at reception was very friendly and helped lift my luggage up the stairs.

We were with a party of 8 on a 2 night stay. We were welcomed by Jamie on arrival and shown to our room which was clean, comfortable & warm. All staff who we came into contact with were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Breakfast was great, the location is fantastic & we wouldn't hesitate to recommend or stay again. Thanks very much to everyone & our best wishes to the family.

We stayed here for 1 night and overall it was a lovely stay! Location was nice - slightly out of the centre but only a short walk to find places to eat and drink. Room was ok/average - could probably benefit from a refurbishment but was comfortable enough. Fine for 1 night. Breakfast was excellent and very tasty!

So very disappointed and sad to be writing this review. I booked this hotel for my Son who is an 18 year old tennis player, learning to travel independently. We chose this hotel as he could walk to the tennis venue easily. I was managing all of the booking and communication remotely before and during his stay. Admittedly we had a few changes to the booking prior to arrival because my Son's friends pulled out at the last minute. Kristine was very kind and went out of her way to help accommodate the changes and we were very apologetic about reducing the booking from 3 nights to 1 night. However, when my Son failed to remember to check out before heading to his tennis match, I expected the hotel to inform me given that I was managing the booking and he was due to check out. When I queried this I was met with the most remarkably aggressive and rude emails from Kelvin, Kristine's Son. A little understanding or even just a professional approach and response with some sensitive customer service would have sufficed. I am sharing just part of the narrative here as I find it quite shocking and am miffed at why I received this response: On confirming that my Son would check out today and settle the bill directly…. Hotel: We’ve been to *** to say you said he was checking out, he says he’s not so he is with us another night. Me:*** is checking out today. He only stayed the extra night because of the confusion yesterday. He will be to you by 11am to settle the bill Hotel: Well we are being told 2 different stories aren’t we. Me: No you have misunderstood. Thank you Kelvin Hotel: In that case. Please do not contact me again or book anyone in here again. Its all on you, he’s your sone remember. Hotel: Again im not here to look after you son. He’s old enough to look after himself. If not then he should be accompanied. He is a nice young man but obviously isn’t street savvy as yet and needs his mum to sort things out for him. He should be accompanied. If you send another email, i won’t read it I’ll just delete. Many thanks.

What a lovely charming country hotel, stayed here two nights whilst running the Ilkley half marathon. Perfect location next to the beautiful park with a picturesque river walk and five minutes from town centre. Welcomed with great big smiles and made to feel welcome immediately, room was clean and spacious with all the added extras of shampoos, coffee making and hairdryer. Lovely bar area which opens onto a pretty alfresco area just perfect for a summers night. We ordered food and sat in the cosy restaurant area and were not disappointed, the burger with chips and onion rings was huge and delicious, the menu had something for everyone. Breakfast was yummy all locally sourced and a happy chilled environment. Staff were all so helpful and friendly with big smiles on faces, this little hotel is a hidden gem in Ilkley so well done to you all and thank you for making our trip so comfortable and enjoyable especially in these difficult times for the hospitality industry. We would certainly return again.

The location is lovely. The hotel is situated beside the river in a park, with lovely walks. It is a short walk to Ilkley Town, and Ilkley moor is a 10 minute drive. It is centrally located for touring the dales. The lady serving breakfast and on reception, was friendly and chatty Having previously had difficulty getting an evening meal whilst on holidays, we chose this hotel after checking its advertised menu as well as its location. On arrival, we were informed that 'the chef was sick' and given a much limited menu. I had steak and ale pie, which was tasteless and felt like it had been re heated. Ice cream was on the dessert menu, however it was 'mr whippy' only and they had no toppings as the machine wasnt working. The smells in our room and stairwell before each breakfast and evening meal was very unpleasant, and although we had breakfast each morning, which was ok, it put us off evening meal, and we ate out each evening . The room had nice views over the park. There was quite a lot of dust and we moved the small settee to watch the television and the wall behind it was caked in fdust and cobwebs. Although the room was serviced, it wasn't hoovered. We also noticed small holes in the sheets that had been sewn up. On one occasion, the milk curdled in the coffee and a request for more was met with surprise. At no time were we asked if everything was okay. A hotel in a beautiful location with fantastic potential that needs its standards raised.

Awful fish and chips. More batter than fish, not worth eating, frozen oven chips are better. The chips were thin end bits , overcooked, tasted awful and looked and tasted like they'd been hanging around for a while. We both left most of them. When I mentioned this to the waitress she said she could assure us they hadn't been hanging around, no apology she just walked away in a huff. I'll never go there again due to to bad value for money, poor quality ingredients and badly cooked food.
