Congratulations to Lewis and James for having the wisdom to take on the challenge of renovating this now beautiful establishment and rescuing it from its mundane past. I was drawn by the online photos and the numerous excellent comments from previous guests. It is styled and decorated throughout in an elegant and characterful way, each of the guest bedrooms are presented in an immaculate state, it was just perfect nothing has been overlooked. And now the food, every morning we were presented with the most delicious array of food. Whether your preference is for vegan, vegetarian or traditional fare then all your expectations will be fully met. Each morning that we were there; and in addition to the excellent full breakfasts available to preorder, were the most delicious in house baked cakes and cookies to eat. Lewis even provided takeout bags if we were too full to manage at the time. I can confess to helping myself for a later mid morning coffee more than once. I was unfortunately only staying for four nights and I deeply regret not staying longer, I was only able to sample the traditional full amazing English breakfast twice, the incredible full vegetarian once and first time for me the outstanding eggs Benedict. I am a poached egg fanatic and those cooked by James were truly perfect in every way. High quality food carefully prepared by James, hosted and presented by Lewis. The attention to detail was truly remarkable and consistent. I want to come back.

OUTSTANDING B&B – Truly a Home Away from Home! James and Lewis are exceptional hosts who go above and beyond to cater to every guest’s needs. Their warm, personalized service is second to none and makes you feel instantly welcome. The breakfast? Absolutely fantastic – just like home, if not better! Thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and satisfying. Vegans also catered for! This B&B is a true gem. Very highly recommended – 5 stars all the way! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

They are the very best in their job. We felt really comfortable and welcomed and breakfast was very nice and tasty, great hospitality always takes it to next level. They baked us fresh muffins. I really enjoyed their freshly baked gluten free bread. We strongly recommend you to stay here. It is also close to many beautiful places to visit and lots of nice walks around.

I only have positives to say about The Earlsdale! We booked same day as we were heading to Ilfracombe a day earlier than planned so booked in the car. The guys were so welcoming as soon as we arrived. Check in was really simple and quick. The room was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. The breakfast is home cooked after you pick off a menu the night before with lots to choose from. They have a lot of vegan friendly options. We’re not vegans ourselves, but my husband had the granola and vegan yoghurt and said it was amazing. As was their homemade lemon and poppyseed muffins. The B&B itself was lovely, and we loved learning about it. It has so much character and you can tell it’s well loved. They have an honesty bar which I really like too and the guys have lots of recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Highly recommend and we wouldn’t think twice about going back. It’s a no brainer for a home from home feel, with no stress at all!

Wow, where do we start, from the minute we stepped in the door we were blown away by the beautiful building decorated so lovely, the hosts Lewis & James were more than welcoming, anything we wanted we were catered for. The food was spectacular James cooks beautifully, we scraped every plate, we travelled quite a way to support this fabulous initiative of a fully Vegan weekend stay, as ethical vegans being in an environment that caters for us makes us happy & relaxed, vegan food is amazing and the effort put into this weekend was sublime. Thank you both and here's to another stay

I don't very often do reviews good or bad but I felt that everyone needs to know how good this place is. Myself and my wife stayed recently for 5 nights , from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay we were made to feel so welcome by the owners Lewis and James. The room was lovely, spotlessly clean and had everything we required for a comfortable stay including a mini fridge with cold water supplied. The breakfast was superb with cereal and a bowl of mixed fruit to start and a cooked breakfast made with top quality ingredients , home made bread for toast and a range of home made cake and muffins each day. There was also an honesty bar available if you wanted a drink in the evening. I would also like to mention Ray and Gwen working behind the scenes to help keep the place running to a very high standard and thanks to Ray for the useful tips on places to visit. To sum up this for us is the best guest house we have ever stayed at in 50 years and we hope to return in the future. Paul and Susan

The breakfast menu is truly amazing - we had cooked breakfast one day, but the next day decided just to go for the continental breakfast as we didn't have room for both. They have an extensive vegan menu, so this is a great place for vegans to stay. Lewis made us so welcome and was really invested in making sure everything was very good for us. We stayed in the Superking Deluxe en suite which is a stunning room with lots of space. Everything throughout the B&B is immaculately clean. The décor is individual and striking. We loved it. Onsite charger for our electric car.
