Beautiful old bijoux hotel. We first saw this hotel last year when having a day trip to Garachico and felt we had to return. It didn’t disappoint. We were very much welcomed by all the staff who seemed delighted to share the history of this extraordinary property. We had a junior suite which gave us an extra room and it overlooked the square. Don’t worry about the clock tower chiming. Last chimes at 23.00 and first at 07.00. It was a bit noisy on the Saturday evening with families having, what felt like, a traditional Spanish family weekend evening. I enjoyed listening to the children having fun. Only small criticism about the room is the AC didn’t really work, but sleeping with the shutters open cooled the room nicely in February. The courtyard garden was a pleasure to sit in and feel cosseted by the lovely staff. Breakfast buffet was tasty with options for most nationalities. A small suggestion would be have small jugs available for the milk of tea drinkers. I strongly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Overall we had a very good experience at this hotel. All the staff were kind, pleasant, smiley and helpful, always. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was on the seaward side with a balcony and spectacular sea view, but very noisy as the Atlantic waves crash on the rocks directly below. We didn't mind this, but if you want a quieter environment, ask for a room on the garden side. Breakfast (buffet style) offered a lot of choice, including cooked food, fruit, pastries, cold cuts/ cheeses etc. The evening meal buffet was also perfectly acceptable, although we mostly chose to eat out as there are various tapas bars and restaurants within 10-20 minutes walking distance. Loro park entrance is a 15 minute walk away, and impressive black sand beaches and associated beach bars another 5-10 minutes. What we liked the most about the hotel was the extensive and beautiful sub-tropical gardens, where you can swim in 3 pools located at different levels on the site. Because the gardens are so large, you can find a quiet spot if you need one. There's also a pool bar serving drinks and light meals. There were a few downsides, but they were minor. The decor is a little dated and our room could have done with a refresh. To go up in the lift you need to use your room key card, but the card readers are not reliable. It can be a little frustrating trying to get the thing to work so that you can access your room. But these ******* were well outweighed by the positives. We felt that the hotel offered good value and we would stay there again.

I have been to Puerto many times and always try new hotels hoping to find one that I love to keep returning too. Well I booked a standard room but as said in other peoples reviews they are a bit dated so I paid a little more and upgraded to a superior Teide view room and wasn't disappointed! Housekeeping worked tirelessly and on reception Soriah was very friendly and always willing to help! Once fully refurbished this will be a top hotel . Whilst there they was improvements being done to the roof terrace and that was looking very impressive.Location Is a big plus too. This is a very good hotel. Keep up the good work. I am returning to Puerto in October and have booked a superior Teide view room again!

The hotel is nice enough. The pool area and the recreational area could do with some updating. The food was good and the staff were friendly. The beds in the rooms were very comfy but the room itself is dated and there was a bad smell in the room which probably came from the bathroom as it did not have any natural ventilation. The location is perfect and i would come back if the hotel was updated. It is more akin to a 3 star hotel.

Ok. Apartments were basic but functional.. we asked for a toaster and a kettle as our room had none and they were delivered by housekeeping that day.. aircon is fab.. 20 euros deposit which you get back when you leave.. rooms freshened every day and beds made.. towels freshens up twice or three times in the week.. we were on fourth floor so sun loungers on balcony as well as table and chairs and glass front which got the sun all day.. the pool bar man is an absolute legend.. he is very good at his job and the hotels best asset!! The hotel is mainly geared for Spanish but all staff seemed to speak good English and were very helpful.. not too far from town but very hilly.. taxi back is no more than 5 euro.. only criticism is the fact that for the whole week the pool itself was never cleaned. The outside area was brushed in mornings but never deep washed so it was very grubby.. sun loungers had comfortable pads but they were never washed either.. our room had a pool view so we were able to see the “cleaning” process..this worried me as birds washed in the pool and we also caught a rat drinking from it one morning after 8am. also cracked tiles and uneven tiling around the pool.. steps at deep end were very shaky and loose.. but all round a good solid spot for self catering holiday..

Recently stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 nights (16th to 19th January) in a fabulous location overlooking the beach and surrounding area of Puerto de la Cruz. We booked a Superior Room with Sea View and were not disappointed. Fabulous views from our balcony. Very welcoming staff on Reception, beautiful well maintained grounds, beautiful roof top pool area with adjoining Restaurant. First class food great quality in Restaurant and buffet breakfast (absolutely everything you could ask for and so fresh) locally produced. Rooftop Restaurant for lunch was fabulous. Menus extensive and all cooked fresh. Restaurant Staff Exceptional, courteous and friendly. Plenty of room around the pool, and no-one getting up early to bag a bed. Top Class Hotel and Staff. Just one minor point to make and this is not a criticism, we would like tea/coffee making facilities in the room. It's just our personal preference to get up early in the morning and sit on the beautiful balcony watching the world go buy listening to the waves crash with a cup of tea or coffee before going down to the fabulous breakfast buffet. Nice clean hotel, rooms are exactly as shown in the pictures. There is a kettle and fridge in the room you can ask at the bar for cups to make tea/coffee. Rooms are kept clean and tidy daily by house keeping and are alternated on a Saturday and Sunday. Day trips can be booked at reception and are cheaper than outside we realised this too late and could have saved ourselves 20€ on Siam water park. The pool is small and cold and you can’t use inflatables. There is a huge selection of pools along the sea front which you can access for 5€ each person, you can use the sun beds and stay all day. The restaurant is fast pace and I was surprised by the variety available for both breakfast and dinner, breakfast offers tea and juice with your food but only water with dinner. We was half board and that’s what was available to us. We are a family of 5 with one fussy eater and we were all more than happy with meal times. The bar sells a wide range of cocktails at a better price than the bars and restaurants outside. Staff are friendly and happy and will do their best to help. Just returned home and this was a wonderful family holiday that I will remember forever. Beautiful views and location was within easy access to shops bars and restaurants. The beaches are volcanic black sand and are rocky with lovely rock pools. Larger beaches are about 20 min walk away but the water was contaminated when we was there so you couldn’t go in the sea but the beaches were lovely to sunbathe on. Watch out for people selling fake bags they can be rude it’s not recommended to engage with them unless you are genuinely wanting to purchase a bag regardless of knowing the quality or price as looking is fuel for their persistent unpleasant pressure for you to buy there and then. Would highly recommend this holiday.

We had a very pleasant week at La Carabela Hotel at the beginning of April. The breakfast buffet was surprisingly diverse; we especially valued all the fruit and veggies, i.g. oven-baked apples, fried bananas, aubergines and courgette, salad leaves and the sweet cakes. The cleaning of the rooms and making the beds were very excellent and took place often enough, so it was lovely to return in the evenings to a well-cleaned room (there might be a need to clean under the bed say once a week though). Although the open-air pool was not in use, we enjoyed swimming a few times in the covered pool, which is of course very handy should it rain. The view from our balcony towards Teide was breathtaking both during the day time and at night. The view from the roof terrace of the hotel was also very impressive and that area would be worth using more. Although there was a need for some repair work here and there (locks on the balcony and bathroom doors, shower handle), the overall feeling in the hotel was tidy and pleasant. The adjacent building was being renovated, but the construction noise did not bother us at all. The area where the hotel is located is nicely peaceful, but yet at a very short walking distance from a variety of shops and restaurants. Also we got a nice amount of exercise when walking down to the lower part of the town, to the beach and Lago Martianez, and then back up to the hotel.

This hotel is excellent we loved every part of it. Stayed in room 620 ideal for reception/pool (level 7) and restaurant (level five) the hotel is spotless the staff are excellent and the sound of the sea each evening is soothing. Tips The hotel is a bit of a distance to the main town it’s very hilly and we only went down once you can walk a kind of cliff path but it’s full of stairs which after a while kills you and gets very tedious. Go out of the hotel walk to the top road go right and you will see a walkway with steps follow them down (they are called the Agatha Christie steps as there is a statue as she had a house there each step has a book title on them) just keep following the road down to the sea front loads of shops and restaurants plus the lido ( which is due to open soon) you can either walk back or get a taxi (4/5 euros) we didn’t bother going again as the Main Street above the hotel had many bar’s restaurants and shops very reasonable priced excellent service not much of a party time if you like that kind of thing down town will be better for you. Food Breakfast is amazing plenty of choice and easy to get through Evening meal got board quickly so used only a couple of times drinks expensive and didn’t approve they charged for water you pay for drinks on the way out or you can charge money to your room and top up when it runs out we preferred to pay as we go drinks wise we preferred to eat out and give to local family business etc. The pool The rule is no personal towels you need to hire them from reception ten euros (refundable with receipt) to change for fresh one one euro exchange but we found we could use both our own and the hotels the reason they like you to use them to show that you are staying there and haven’t sneaked in. The bar is good very professional service. The room Lovely views over the sea the bathroom has been the best I have ever had abroad lives the multi shower lights and the screen window trick great fun to play with tv is crap so we always take a fire stick power lead and remote control Wi-Fi is very good the codes allow two devices per ticket but you can have as many as you like we had three tablets two phones and a fire stick don’t forget to put in the code for your fire stick to make it work you might not get every thing you get at home but it’s better than the tv without it We booked with jet2 excellent transfers etc the excursions we booked was the body trip up the side of the island we managed to see whales and dolphins I do warn it will be a long day 11.45 we left and didn’t get back until eight pm if you don’t like rough conditions sea wise this trip might not be for you as four plus hours on a boat feeling sea sick isn’t much fun there is chance to swim off the boat the food was a bit naff not to everyone’s taste take a jumper it can start to get cold.
