It used to be called "Coral Beach Hotel", but now it is "Hotel Shogetsu". Is the name change due to the revetment construction in front of the hotel? This time I stayed on a JTB tour. There were three of us, and we thought we would get an extra bed in a twin room, but we were given a large room with a twin bed in a corner room and a Japanese-style room. It was more than twice as large as a normal twin room, so it was very comfortable. The view from the room was of Kagoshima Bay in front of the balcony, but I was a little worried about the revetment construction on the coast in front of me. In the early morning, a beautiful dawn scene unfolds, so if the weather is good, I think it is essential to get up early. Ibusuki Onsen is famous for its sand baths, but this hotel does not have such facilities, so you have to take the hotel's shuttle bus, which leaves every 20 minutes, to a nearby municipal sand bath called "Saraku", which is also an interesting experience. We had dinner in the hotel's banquet hall with the same tour group, but the tables were divided into groups and the distance between the tables was so far that we couldn't talk to each other. The food was delicious and the portions were ample, but you could also order extras like millet tempura, sashimi, and seared bonito. Everything was delicious and it was nice to be able to enjoy local flavors for around 800 yen. They also had Ibusuki shochu, so I was able to fully enjoy Kagoshima. Breakfast was served in the same venue, but the landlady came to greet me, which I thought was a very polite hotel. The hotel's hot spring was a sodium spring, and the large public bath was spacious and comfortable. It was nice that it was a small hotel so it wasn't crowded.
